Mayor Bloomberg on Boston Bombing: "Our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.”

"[W]e live in a complex word," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said today, when asked about the Boston Marathon bombing. "[Y]ou’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will. And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.”

More, from the New York Observer:

“The people who are worried about privacy have a legitimate worry,” Mr. Bloomberg said during a press conference in Midtown. “But we live in a complex word where you’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will. And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.”

“Look, we live in a very dangerous world. We know there are people who want to take away our freedoms. New Yorkers probably know that as much if not more than anybody else after the terrible tragedy of 9/11,” he said.

Only our own government can take away our freedoms

The idea that foreigners can take away "freedoms" through mass murder is noxious and laughable. Bloomturd is a traitor. We do indeed need to change our laws and interpretation of the Constitution. Since 9/11/01, the U.S. has been in a death spiral dissolving the Bill of Rights and passing fascist laws which need to be reversed.

In this complex world Bloomturd speaks of, with all the mental and emotional distractions, we more than ever need resolute confidence in the founders' genius in creating a Constitution which never goes stale, a masterpiece that can continue to guide us for another 220 years hence if we don't lose faith and let fear lead us to the certain death of sacrificing our precious liberties for an illusion of safety.

Language, Lawyers, Liars, and Satan

LANGUAGE, noun.
The music with which we charm the serpents guarding another's treasure.

LAWYER, noun.
One skilled in circumvention of the law.

LIAR, noun.
A lawyer with a roving commission.

SATAN, noun.
One of the Creator's lamentable mistakes, repented in sashcloth and axes. Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favor that I should like to ask," said he.

God: "Name it."

Satan: "Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws."

God: "What, wretch! You his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul — you ask for the right to make his laws?"

Satan: "Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself."

It was so ordered.

Good one...

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Change?

I didn't think there was much of the original intent left . . .

Magna est veritas, et prevalebit. Truth is most powerful, and will ultimately prevail.

This nation has survived

saboteurs and terrorist during both World Wars without removing the protections of the Constitution, other than the cowardly and Eurocentric imprisonment of the Japanese citizens in this country. The safety of the population is not what this is about, rather it is a cold blooded grab at security for the so called elite, such as Bloomberg, when they finally come out and can no longer deny their agenda. We were shown just how many law enforcement personnel as well as citizenry will get caught up in the fervor of oppression during the test run just last week. It is they who will be in the vanguard of Bloomberg's army. My suggestion to anyone thinking to stand up to them is to have your affairs in order. They are ruthless as well as mindless and will gladly slaughter men, women and children while our fellow citizens are pointing us out to them.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

One of these days a flash mob the size of a football stadium will get riled up by one of these treasonous anti-American statements and serve justice.

We can only hope.

We always hope that SOMEONE will make "that difference".

AnAppeal, this response is not directed at you, in particula. Actually, what you said got me to thinking about people in general.

In this world of events, we are always hoping that "someone else will do something about it". We stay in our comfy environments, sometimes as "keyboard warriors" with an idea, but hoping that someone ELSE will implement it and put that idea into action. Perhaps we ought to sometimes ask ourselves if WE (the individual) are capable of doing something that is sound and reasonable... and can make a difference......as opposed to always "waiting for someone at the big dance to be the first ones out on the dance floor".

My thought of the day.

The Mayor has a right to state his beliefs

And in a candid fashion. Even Bill Maher asked on 4/19 why people will not address altering or repealing the 2nd amendment like they did decades ago with conviction. This is the only way to get such legislation like Feinstein wants passed. Stating that the Founding Fathers were genial, but not sooth-sayers, is a compelling argument as to why the Constitution should remain a living document. Even Jefferson, the key author of the document, had reservations on imposing his generations beliefs on countless millions in the future. SO it actually is a good argument to have a referendum on modifying the Constitution. I suspect it would fail, but if the Congress would stop filibustering and actually do their job once in awhile, a vote would put an end to such conjecture, at least for a time. This, of course, involves a 2/3 majority in both houses.

Jefferson wrote the

Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence.

______
"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

Correction

Jefferson did not write and was not even in the country when the constitution was being written.

Translation

We know it's almost impossible to amend the constitution. So what we have to do is redefine the constitution so that you can have a 1st amendment but one with no free speech, a 2nd amendment but one with no guns, etc.

There you go...trying to make this a liberal thinktank..

"[Y]ou’re going to have to

"[Y]ou’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will."

I couldn't agree more, Mikey. We definitely need MORE guns in civilian hands. :)

He's Right.

"We know there are people who want to take away our freedoms."

Unfortunately, he's one of them. In fact, a principle one. And he's letting himself be the pawn of those he perceives as terrorists.

If the objective of the 'terrorists' is to take away our freedoms, he's helping them out gloriously.

There's stupid, and then there is just plain dense.

Dangerous world?

Yes, Mr Bloomberg,

And, you are making it more dangerous! Your fear is increasing the possibility of a tyrannical government, taking us over!

Who

Does this guy thinks he is? How in the world are New Yorkers not rioting after this nonsense he spouts.

Man, it's weird, but after 9 /11 people in that city are

just seriously fucked. People I went to grad school with and who were politically skeptical and highly detail-oriented about it are now... well, they seem to get exhausted talking about any of this.

It's understandable, given the traumatic experience through which they went. People seem like they just don't want the boat rocked too much. And, yes, Status Quobama's spell is still in effect. Dunno (and of course I only speak from my sliver of a perspective on the matter), but it seems people like / are satisfied with their authoritarian leaders whom they allow to do everything to "keep everybody safe". Buck wild.

What would the Founders do?

Understandable?

I'm giving a thumbs up because you state the truth that many New Yorkers, maybe millions of them, have become mind-fucked since 9/11/01, but it's not "understandable." Maybe forgivable, but I sure as hell don't understand it.

Buildings crashing down now and then is regrettable and I'd like to prevent it, but only without infringing on liberty. I'm not willing to sacrifice any of my freedoms for some promise of safety real or fraudulent.

Bombs a few miles from my house didn't make me suddenly want to cease immigration from Chechnya or anywhere else, didn't make me want peoples' phones to be tapped, and didn't make me want firearms or fireworks or gunpowder or kitchen appliances to be banned.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

"Forgivable" is sorta what I meant, really. Same difference.

It is either both or neither. In this case, if it is not understandable, it cannot be forgivable.

(Now I think we've *both* split enough hairs!)

Not forgivable because the result is the deference to, acceptance, and even support of the curtailment of Liberty... plus by a mayor who has a NATIONAL agenda to wreak further Constitutional harm (Which in my book makes him a treasonous domestic terrorist who needs to hang.). Dig it?

What would the Founders do?

Obama got 90+% of their votes

Obama got 90+% of their votes in NYC thats why

New Yorkers can't stand Bloomy, it's the media playing music..

I am from NY and there really are not many Obama lovers, only the hoemless like him. Since we know Ron Paul really won over Romney . Romney got a pittence of a vote, so it didn't take much for Obama to win. Its all an illusion to keep us divided. Peace.

Yeah

But they did prop up a loser against Obama.

This Israeli will push hard now

the agenda of the motherland - all civil liberties & the Constitution must be done away with to keep us safe from the terrorists - who in reality is them

I say FK them - this is a call to action - get yourself in the best physical shape of your life, if you don't know how to defend yourself - learn by taking some martial arts - trust me you will be reborn . You must eat healthy.

Money. Plain and simple. I dread every time I have to enter the city for jobs but am glad that I moved out of it.

The word treason gets thrown around a lot

but is there any other word for this?

Madison would have shot this guy in the face.
