Scientific Method has it´s flaws...

Very nice video to watch. Problem in todays society is that most scientists are controlled by money and can take in to account what facts they want to get the right conclusion.

I have seen scientists start from the conclusion and base everything to match it and say it is "correct according to the scientific method". This is of course not the right way to go but that is what we are told because they are "scientists".

BTW those guys in the white robes on TV really aren't doctors either. In case you were wondering,

There is not a flaw in the Scientific Process if you are not using it.

I agree...

But how do you know a scientist has used it if you can´t understand the data he based it on and is too complex for you to read?

Again, the scientific method is FANTASTIC, I agree, but it is done by humans so in THE REAL WORLD things can turn out differently. Just because it says something has been done by the "scientific method" does not mean you can trust it IN THE REAL WORLD (which we live in I hope).

Using the scientific method

Using the scientific method lends itself to peer review. If people who do understand complicated data and testing procedures independently review the conditions of the test and the data the results must be reproducible. If they are not, than the conclusions of the originating people and process can not be accepted.

I will add,, no matter how much media propaganda is applied to the result it will still remain untrue. No matter how many true believer's and advocates are paraded behind the conclusion it will remain untrue.
If it becomes applied in real life it still remains untrue but becomes politically accepted though not scientifically correct. We tend to have a lot of that happening at the macro societal level these days.

No, the method is sound, its

No, the method is sound, its the people that are not.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

That is what I ment...

The method gets flawed because humans are doing it.
I am not saying the method has not helped us a lot but if you trust someone just because they said they did the scientific method then it is a problem because face it not everyone can understand the basic data that has been used if it is more complex stuff, you then base it on faith that the scientist is telling the truth.

You realize that that is a

You realize that that is a flaw in the person, not the method right?

The Scientific method over many years has proved to be the best way to arrive at truth.

All scientific papers are subjected to the strict process of peer review. That tends to iron out most of the bad science. Yes, the conclusions can be made to fit an agenda but if the methodology in collecting the actual data is flawed it is sure to be uncovered in one year or 10.

Good example is the dead brain cells due to marijuana study.

As explained above...

I completely understand that it is the person that is flawed, but who is doing the study and the person reading it, is it not a person(s)?

Peer review studies are very good I agree, problem is that it can in some instances become "censorship by the main stream", we have several defectors in Europe that have dropped out from the UN (Climate Panel) because they say they do not follow the scientific method yet the majority signs on to it to get it "peer reviewed".

In a world without factors from outside the scientific method can be done scientifically correct, but in our world it can be done as propaganda as well, to be blind to this is very dangerous.

There is PLENTY of peer

There is PLENTY of peer reviwed science out there that contradicts global warming as it is presented to us today so those European scientists may just have made some mistakes in their method.

Now I'll tell you where the confusion comes in regarding global warming. All the doomsday scenarios are not based on current rates and projections but simulated climate models. To do a simulation you must make a lot of assumptions such as cloud cover, climate sensitivity, contribution of ice to reflecting solar radiation etc.

These parameters may be manipulated to get a 'desired' result but the science remains accurate for the parameters used. Of course any paper HAS to list ita assumptions as well as how it arrived at them.

Why you see a relative consensus about global warming is real because the two factors that temperature has been rising in the last 30 years(except perhaps the last 5,I'll have to check) and carbon dioxide causes warming if concentrated in the atmosphere are undeniable.

The main question, however, is how sensitive the climate is to increased levels of CO2, and if it IS that sensitive then can we have a measurable effect by adopting the proposals outlined in the various climate conventions or if its cheaper to simply adapt.

Science is awesome. Just use google scholar when you want good scientific papers to make your point. It is my favourite tool for obtaining information =)

I wonder if the answers she might get from adults

would be closer or further than these kids guessed. I wonder how concise many of my own replies would compare with the definitions given. At least one would be out-take worthy, no doubt :)

Definitely a homeschooling project. Sadly, I wouldn't expect this kind of clear thinking and camera presence from most government schooled young ladies her age. Great job, everyone! Thanks for sharing.
