DP Special: My book "Stick it to the Man!"

I put on a promotion today for DP readers, my book "Stick it to the Man!" is free today. There is also a paperback version, but they won't let me give that away. Oh well.

It's a quick read, and has a lot of simple, safe ways to assert your independence, and some snappy illustrations that might look nice on a rally poster.

Interested in how the Kindle Select giveaway works for you, I have a book of my own I'm working on to put out in the next few months.

Kindle Select

has been really good to me. I've gotten a few hundred downloads in just the few hours that this thing has been on DP.

What service are you working through? I used Createspace, and it was just amazing. I published on Tuesday, it was reviewed and posted on Amazon the next day, I ordered and had a paperback in hand by Saturday morning.

Currently

I'm just working on finishing the book, and was planning to only produce an ebook version for now through Kindle. If I were to do a paperback I would use CreateSpace.

Or...perhaps I should do a paperback as well? I go back and forth.

Started the book today and I will be sure to review it when I'm all done.

Createspace all the way

Go with Createspace, no question. You format everything, make a paperback, and then you have the option to basically press a button and port it over to Kindle Direct Publishing. You can do both for essentially no additional effort.

I submitted the book for review on a Tuesday, bought it on Amazon on Wednesday night and had a paperback on my front porch on Saturday.

I'm starting to think

I may just go the CreateSpace route. The book is nearing it's final editing stages and the more I put into it the more I think I want a hard copy sitting on my bookshelf!

Love the Recommendations Section

You have some great ideas in the Recommendations section of each chapter. I haven't seriously thought about getting passports for everyone, since we kind of have a Von Trapp Family-type situation here. It would be a big expense, but may be worth it. It would be hard to determine the point when this would be wise, but not yet too late.

You can get passport cards for 55 bucks

but they only work for Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. They're 40 bucks for kids.

I agree it's a big expense if you've got a pile of kids, but thats better than 135 for a full passport. Also, if things get bad enough to need to leave the country, I suspect that Canada or Mexico will be the only viable options.

Passport Cards

I didn't know that there was this cheaper option. We are pretty close to Canada and used to go there for fun before you had to have a passport. Thanks for providing the book! I am on a tight budget, so that was really a blessing.

Greetings fellow author!

Hey I really like the illustration so far. With so many of us publishing we're almost ready for our own forum. I'm still learning but the process has been pretty fun. Let's talk.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

There is a cool function

on Amazon where you can make lists of related books. Perhaps we need to do a "Daily Paul Originals" or something like that. I believe its called "Listmania".

really?

I was just thinking now how can we support one another as authors beyond the usual "like me on facebook" and that sounds like a good start. We need no other common theme for that one.

May I PM you?

You may,
