Is anyone else NOT mad at Rand?

He didn't switch positions. He supported drone strikes in an "imminent threat".
This even fits the libertarian position. Why are we listening to Foreign Policy magazine? Do we listen to The Economist? Do we listen to Salon.com?

It seems the establishment is trying to create conflict out of nothing.

Well, he can't betray his own

Well, he can't betray his own Father again unless Dr Paul runs so in that sense everything must be ok.

I'm not mad at Rand

I'm not mad at Rand.
I'm just very dissapointed in him and do not support him because of his actions

never blinked twice

the ones bashing Rand are people from the libertarian party, but i gurantee you he will win more people over then Gary Johnson. Rand is our last hope.

I'm not inspired by Rand

and I did in fact vote for Gary Johnson last time. Had Ron been the candidate he would have gotten my vote. I also joined the R party because of Ron. I'm not nearly as impressed with Rand and still unhappy about his endorsement of Romney, but if he does in fact become the Republican candidate I will choose him over Johnson. If I thought a 3rd party had a chance of winning things might be different, but as it stands Rand is our best hope for 2016.

If I remember correctly

If I remember correctly everyone that voted for Obomney, I mean Obama had hope for change.......

Not mad. I'll probably take

Not mad.

I'll probably take some heat for this, but I'm not going to get excited until he actually announces he's running. Why? Voters nominated McCain for 2008 and Romney for 2012.
It is my belief that while he may sound "neocon-ish", I think he is doing so as not to be dismissed by voters early on. Rubio is already out because of immigration... who is left in the stable? Jeb? pfft. Christie? pfft. Paul Ryan? pfft.. It is going to take some time for Republican voters to be open to ideas not fed by conservamedia...

I have a hard time believing he isn't aligned with his father's values... he knows he is already under scrutiny by the liberty movement, I don't think he is going to do anything to alienate them, but I'll forgive him if he has to "politic" a bit to win the nomination and Presidency. His most recent budget release shows that he is the only one serious about fixing problems.
Either way, it is still important for us to reach out and engage all voters...

I still engage my progressive friends on political views on FB, not that it will change their mind, but at least demonstrate to their friends that may not be like minded... there are other points of view out there (plus it is so frigging easy to destroy thinkprogress.org talking points).

Your view is what I'm hoping

Your view is what I'm hoping is going on, that it's all strategy. I think that is a big difference in Ron and Rand. I think Rand wants to be President, I think Ron didn't real have a desire to be President. Ron wanted to change minds and change the course of discussion and thinking in this country. He wanted to spread the message and educate, change the country by changing the debate and the way of thinking by the people. I think Rand believes real change will only come if we have the power to change government, by actually having a President who will. So he's trying to do what he thinks needs to be done to have a real shot at it. I don't know, that's my hope anyway.

That's clearly the case

as he's trying to appeal to social cons and the broader Tea Party element by choosing his words wisely w/o selling out libertarian principles. He's very prolific at making libertarian ideals more mainstream and I'm saying this as an ancap. Besides, this interview he did with Cavuto was on Fox Business which no one watches yet this has become such a big deal.. It's obvious there's a divide and conquer MO going on and some libertarians are falling for their tricks. I expected more intelligence out of this base writ large than to knickel and dime a proven defender of liberty. If you need me to provide proof of this then clearly some haven't been paying attention to what's been going on in the Senate.

No heat from me.

I couldn't have expressed my opinion better than you just did for me.

I'm not mad at Rand. I

I'm not mad at Rand. I understand he's a conservative with libertarian leanings, not a libertarian, and that his approach to politics is to work for incremental change rather than to take principled stands like his father.

He's definitely on the right side, though he'll never inspire like his father did. He is what he is. No need to get upset about it.

Ditto. I'm not mad at Rand,

Ditto. I'm not mad at Rand, just not enthusiastic about him like I was for his father. I might vote for him if he runs for POTUS, but I won't campaign for him or evangelize for him the way I did for Dr. No.

I would campaign for him and

as long as a certain JB and company are not on his paid staff, I would donate to his campaign fund.

I am FOR Ron Paul

and Rand Paul.

I intend to STAND WITH RAND in 2016

There is nobody else.
The only thing that would change my mind is if he were to hire Jesse Benton again. If he does that...then I will seriously have to reconsider my position.
I never trusted Jesse, and never will.
Jesse is only in it for Jesse and the money.

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

people in the community, as

people in the community, as in most, just jump to conclusions way to fast. We just need to be patient and see how it unravels. Rand will probably say that he misspoke or that the context was wrong.

just relax.

Yep.

Me

It's time! Rand Paul 2016!

"Truth, Justice, and the American Way!"

It ain't just the establishment "trying to create conflict

out of nothing". Have you read some of the comments and posts on DP lately? Seems like a lot of people are getting very agitated these days, including me. Sure feels like some one or some group is busy stirring the pot around here again.

I still stand with Rand.

Is It The "libertarian position"

That government can have whatever weapon they choose and the people have no say? That these weapons can be used as a constant threat, a constant fear? That these weapons have the utmost capability of enslaving everyone?

@ECHO OFF

I see no good in these things! I guess that I am more real than the libertarians that know how to send a fright, as well. Gettin' chilly in here.

If anything Im only mad that he didnt clear this up

quickly and easily.

I got what he meant when he said it, he just said it in a very stupid way that would be blown way out of proportion. It was just a simple misstatement and a simple "what i meant was this etc" would have cleared it right up. Instead he's letting proxies speak for him and rumors and railing accusations float about that muddy the waters even more. In this day and age it isn't difficult to put a simple statement out yourself. It seems every time he sticks his foot in his mouth he doubles down on it instead of just clearly explaining what he meant and diffusing the misunderstanding. It's not that hard. His true meaning is finally now getting out there thankfully but some damage has already been done. Im sure he'll recover.

Anyway, that said I still stand with Rand and Im thankful there are still many level headed people here who wait out the facts before flying off the handle or jumping to conclusions. Some here are like chickens with their heads cut off about stuff like this. It's embarrassing to see anti liberty sites use our own members quotes against us and our leaders in their articles. Have patience please.

So tired of the troll-generated fake outrage!

99% of real voters are NOT PAYING ATTENTION to 2016. The only people paying attention right now are the "inside Libertarian baseball" players (the ones who insist on making the "unattainably perfect" the enemy of the "excellent" and are okay with losing election after election), Ron Paul diehards (like myself), and PROGRESSIVES AND PAID TROLL OPERATIVES WHO WANT TO DEFEAT RAND PAUL AND DESTROY THE CONSTITUTION.

Why are there no anti-Feinstein rants or anti-Harry-Reid rants on the DP? Surely, petty tyrant gun-grabbers and economy-destroyers like them shouldn't be getting a free pass here, of all places?

Why is the single most PRO-LIBERTY voter in the U.S. Senate the target of all the invective and insults?

Because THEY'RE SCARED OF HIM, that's why.

99% of the outrage here is FAKE, bought and paid for by the George Soroses of the world.

Why Be Mad?

What on earth is wrong with you people who are "Mad" at Rand? Don't you understand that the attack on Rand is 24/7? They are just waiting to jump on anything Rand says to twist it to affect people's opinions on him. You are quite naive if you don't believe this.

I listened to the interview that brought this all up, and I know that Rand is having to play a very fine line with everything!! He has to play the "political game" to some degree and you really need to understand that! I am quite solid on where Rand stands with everything, and I also know what he is having to do at times. I have often said Rand is our Trojan Horse to the White House. You are an idiot if you do not understand that.

never been mad at him

as a matter of act,i love hearing him railroad the other reps
but some here think if you question him,you are a rand hater
like a question is a moral attack on their personal beliefs
or to their person
i reserve the right to question anyone, anything and including
myself
deacon

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

yup, NOT mad at him

In fact if you watched the interview on fox, it almost seemed as though neil cavuto was baiting him to take an anti liberty position. I can count on one hand the times I have seen a fox anchor side w constitutional protections over the police state.

I think Rand did a good job not taking the bait.

They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds. -mexican proverb

I'm not mad...

I think his analogy was wrong to use. I don't want any drones ever used but what if there is an imminent threat to civilians that can't be stopped say for instance a terrorist with a bomb in a train headed into a large city? You would have to use some type of strike against the train whether its a F-1 fighter plane or a drone. Sending a drone to attack a person holding up a 7-11? Nonsense.

If this ever happens and innocent bistanders are killed, drones will be outlawed in a matter of minutes.

Big gulp

"If this ever happens and innocent bistanders are killed, drones will be outlawed in a matter of minutes."

Like pressure cookers? No weapon Big Brother gets is ever outlawed. Big Brother could come right out and admit the Boston Marathon bombing and 9/11 were inside jobs, and the vast majority of Americans wouldn't demand anything. The sheep have been completely domesticated.

Rand, "I ain't mad atcha, got nothing but love for ya."

The stories and the links on Drudge stating that Rand changed his position are hit pieces just like the ones they used to launch at Ron Paul.

(Quote above from the late great Tupac Shakur.)

Rand Paul is an absolute

Rand Paul is an absolute genius. I stand with Rand 100%.

Only idiots

take what he said out of context. Idiots or trolls.

Ron brought the Liberty movement together, Rand is expanding the crap out of it! :)

I'm still standing

Officially NOT mad at Rand. I find him to be very consistent and trustworthy. He's only guilty of acting more like a politician than his father, which may prove to be a strong point and not a weakness.

Thank you

GroverCleveland2012 for this post. Liberty Movement should accelerate despite occasional bumps.
