The Judge looks/sounds far more qualified to become president than Rand Paul. If Rand ran as a VP pick on ticket with the Judge as the top pick, such ticket would get my vote.

Vote for a ticket with Rand Paul as president at this point? I'm not terribly convinced, still sitting on the fence.

And that's why we should be wary of the words:

"I don't care".

I believe in the freedom to be what we choose to be.

i agree, all out ban on govt use of drones.

and all out freedom of private use, of course, negative externalities will ensue... but atleast we will have a claim against those that create them.

A true flower can not blossom without sunlight and a true man can not live without love.

Warrant Smorrant - Don't they bust down the wrong doors and

kill people? Tell me how a warrant makes it OK to kill?Th Rand DID NOT SAY come out of the store shooting and even if he did how is a drone operator going to know whether he has a hostage or not?

Opps? Wrong target? Oops? Wrong store? Seems I remember watching a drone take out a van in the middle east with kids in it. The van had stopped to help a journalist who had been shot.

...

yes

What we need is accountability! Right now, if a cop kills the wrong person by mistake, they cannot be charged with murder. That needs to change. If a drone kills an innocent, whoever programmed the drone should be liable for murder.

“The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants.” — Albert Camus

You know,

I saw the story on the DP today that the ladies in the blue truck that was shot up during the Dorner chase got something like $4.2M to split. I could be off on number...but the thought went thru my mind of money laundering. When I saw that truck riddled with bullets back when it happened I could not see how anyone could have lived thru it. Can you imagine if a drone had been used? No ladies to pay $4.2M, but then I guess it would go to the family. Anyways the money laundering bit is off topic, but I just had to toss it out there as I find some of the strangest things go thru my mind nowadays when it is so hard to know what the truth is.

...

If you come out shooting, USING drones are STILL NOT OK

First, all police actions should seek to contain and capture and kill only as a last resort. Its not kill first.

Most of all, You repeal force with like force.

If you use Drones or a jet airplane bomb against a thief shooting his gun, that is OVER KILL.

Not only that, it opens up the high likelihood of innocents being killed

Slippery slope

The use of drones in America will become an American nightmare.I can't believe people are on the bandwagon.Rand Paul is just trying to get the judge to get him out of hot water over his silly statements.2 years from now drones will be armed in every city and all the fools on this site will learn what FORCE really is via of your buds like rand paul.Do you want a police state because we already have one today!

I'm with you.

He keeps explaining as if I did not understand him the first time, and I did.
Giving cops the authority to kill remotely is ridiculous in an out of control police state, if that is a "compromise" it is a bridge too far.

Fishy,

I agree, and I have tell you personally because I know from time to time we disagree.

:)

Thanks, bear.
Don't you worry about disagreeing with me, I disagree with me some days. In the big picture, I know who is in this fight for the right reasons even if the details get blurry sometimes.
Peace and love, bear!

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

lol

"I disagree with me some days." I know the feeling, and then when everyone else disagrees with me I can't figure out who I am anymore. But that is what it is all about I suppose when reaching for the truth in these crazy days.

I watched the whole interview

not a soundbite and drones should not be used on active aggressors or anyone without court approval. The reason for this is called check and balances because the law enforcement and the mainstream media can claim someone is an active aggressor and then kill them with a drone. The law enforcement and media have lied a lot of times where they said that someone was an active aggressor when they were not. A perfect example of this is the Boston bombers. both brothers were pictured after the bombings with their backpacks on so they are not the ones who did it obviously. Boston Bombing: "Craft International" (Military Contractors) Photographed at Bombing Location Before Attack. It’s been revealed that at least two men, possibly a third man with them, were photographed at the bombing scene in Boston wearing matching military grade boots and khaki pants and carrying large black backpacks that match the description of the ones the bombs were in.: http://educate-yourself.org/cn/craftinternational17apr13.shtml A large newspaper in boston called the boston globe on their own twitter page one hour before the boston bombings said that the police are going to do a controlled explosion in a certain location they gave in one hour. One hour later two bombs went off at the boston marathon exactly where and at the location that the boston globe said on their twitter page that the boston police were going to do a controlled explosion.

"without court approval"

So, we found flin's price. If the COURT says the cops can kill the guy, its all good. Because we all know the court system is beyond reproach...
You cannot give that kind of power to anyone, they WILL abuse it. But don't take my word for it, just be patient. They will prove my point soon, I'm sure.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

i agree with you on that. I do not think that drones should be

used to kill that guy even if the court sais okay because all the courts in the us are corrupt. But I said that they can only be used with court approval because i thought if I went further then that then people would not agree with me. But I agree with you there. The courts do make mistakes all the time and all the judges are bought off are threatened into ruling the way the goverment wants.

jhon

Cavato: Rand Paul did seem to draw the line that to the degree

that you could track down bad guys and we have that technology i think and have at it? What do you make of that Ron Paul? Ron Paul yeah when the courts approve that will be fine, but it was never meant that we would have this gigantic police force from the federal government. we had martial law up there, fbi and all these agents coming in and closing things down going into peoples houses, no technology is fine but it has to be guarded and if there is a question you guard liberty before you say well if we catch a bad guy that is good. You do not give up liberty for 9 people because you might find one person. So I would be very cautious about that. The federal goverment is not supposed to be our police force yet we have over 100 thousand federal officals who carry guns to enforce these laws and they own boston. It is criminal that people tolerated this so much that we tolerated this martial law and total acceptance that they can come into our houses that we can not even go out of the house. You know what if we wanted to go to the store and go buy a loaf of bread. No you cant do that. It was serious. It was a crisis. There was 3 people killed. We have 48 murders every single day. There is a lot of murders out there. Do we close down cities because there is 10 murders over the weekend in Chicago. We dont do that. Here we closed down a whole city, not even allowed to go to a baseball game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZcLGO...!

In other words, we should

In other words, we should have drones flying around shooting people from the skies?

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

if somewone is claimed to be in the act of comitting a crime

the law enforcement can not just shoot him with a drone because they can claim that he is committing the crime and the news and he could be innocent. That is why drones should only be used to track down bad guys with court approval.

Obvious

This clarification wasn't even necessary, at least for me.
It's obvious (if you actually watched/read the entire interview, not a soundbyte) that Rand wasn't endorsing the use of drones on suspects, but only on active aggressors. Anyone can give a bad or unspecified example, metaphor or analogy - if you've actually ever talked politics with someone, I'm sure you've done it yourself.

I'm not even a big fan of Rand, but it's not because he has the wrong drone policy. That's one of the areas where he's mostly right (acceptable quantity and use of drones in so-called 'self defense' is certainly debatable.)

The thing that gets to me about the backlash Rand faced for this is that people are forgetting the most important fact of the political realm: there are actions and there are words - and only one of them matters even remotely, and the other one is just there to amuse or distract you. Rand's words are irrelevant just like Obama's words are irrelevant. If you want to hate Rand, do it because of the actions he takes. If you want to love Rand, do it because of the actions he takes. The same can be said for Obama or anyone else.

how is the Judge's health?

The Judge is looking slimmer in the face than in years past as I remember when he made appearances on Beck's Fox show.

I hope the Judge is ok and is eating healthy.

He gave

up bread and pasta from what I understand.

That sure worked for me.

That sure worked for me.

Ahh I'll catch flak but f**k it:

Imo, I still think Rand is playing rope-a-dope. He's saying "all the right things" to be considered by the Old Guard as a 2016 POTUS candidate.

One thing is certain: Rand is not saying everything on his mind. Just like his father...

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

The thing that bothers me about that scenario

is that "conservative" people watch FOX and lap it up...so Rand is taking part in telling people it is OK to kill people if they come out of a liquor store with a gun and $50.

It is not OK. Rand said he didn't care if a drone killed the person or the police killed the person.

Since when is robbery a capital offense? Since when is a single force the jury judge and executioner?

Alot of eople believe what they hear and don't think twice, so now when someone else says the same thing or when it starts happening, no biggie. To me that is problematic and Rand should not take part in that type of disinformation playing a political game.

The masses need educated, not further dumbing down, IMO.

...

Holding Out Hope That You're Correct

I still think there's a chance (though maybe I'm deluding myself because I'm hoping for it to be the case)

I"m right there with you

It's tough to defend Rand when he says stuff like this, but, again, imo, I think he's appeasing a certain audience.

I bet you that the Old Guard will push Rubio/Ryan/Romney on us in 2016. Maybe even throw in a Bush or a Palin.

God damnit: already thinking about those idiots gives me a headache...omg and Palin's voice....shit. And Bachmann?!?!

AAhhhhhhhh!!!!! Someone HELP!

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Glad the Judge clarified this

Still, I don't see how it was that difficult to infer this same argument from Rand's comments. Rand misspoke a little, but everyone does on TV or talking to anyone from time to time. Can't expect people to be perfect!

Upvote!! THis is what people need to see if they can't understand where Rand is coming from!

I am Ron Paul

SteveMT's picture

Rand himself should clarify and fast.

Real fast.

the Judge is great as always

thanks for posting
