Tribute to our our brothers and sisters in Boston

I am running a a trail marathon Sunday. i havent trained or conditioned for it but signed up anyway. I would like to do it with some purpose in memory of the 3 lovely people who died in Boston and for all those that may never lead a normal emotional or physical life as a result of the bombing.

My last ultra marathon I dedicated to the Revolution and tatooed my arms for the race.It was sweet!

What are some ideas from team DP that will show we support our fellow men and women effected by the tragedy?

There will be a few thousand people there. It will be a non traditional marathon in that it is run on the trails through the woods. The crowds will be only at aid stations and packed around the start finish.

Great opportunity to make a positive statement and show we care.

Love to hear from you....

HOT Damn Brother!

Way to represent!

The best way to move on, doing it, unafraid, moving forth, among and with fellow men/women.

Great Job Dex!

This is a good idea.

That is great dex

I don't have any ideas on how to show your support for our fellow men, but I think the fact that you're running it is awesome.

The last (and only) marathon I ran was in Seattle was in the late 90's. It was easy as far as marathons go - it was all flat, starting somewhere on the east side of Lake Washington, and mostly run on the Burke-Gilman trail.

I thought that if I'm still here next year, I'd like to run the Boston Marathon. There is no way I could qualify, but there ways around that - if you're running with a club to make money.

If I'm going to do it, I would have to start training ASAP - like right now. But I'm still not sure where I'll be next year.

Best of luck, best wishes, thank you for all of your contributions and support here at the Daily Paul. Please keep us posted!

If you run it and want to do it for a cause, I'm there !

How awesome would that be huh, we could have a fundraiser all while generating awareness to some real positive stuff. I am confident we could generate some fantastic support all while doing something really healthy.

If we do it right we might even get an endorsement from the man himself (RP).

How long did you train for Seattle? We're you sore after that? Seattle would be a great place to run.

Sounds like you have some personal decisions your grappling with and only you know what's best for you. I sure hope your around for selfish reasons but I also understand a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

But if you decide to hang in there, I thinks a Nobel goal and we could have a lot fun doing it.

You rock Michael!

I think I trained about 4 months for Seattle, but I was in a lot better shape starting out.

Was I sore? Very! For a couple of days. I was still a smoker back then and the first thing I did after crossing the finish line was have a cigarette!

It would be a great challenge to do Boston, not the least of which would be training through the winter. The Seattle marathon was in the fall, so it wasn't so bad training through the summer. I don't think I could deal with training here in the cold, or doing it all on a treadmill, so that would be a challenge.

But I am considering a move to a warmer clime, so maybe I could come back here for it. That would be wild.

I'm sure you'd be way faster than me. I don't remember my exact time for Seattle, but it was over 4 hours (but under 4-1/2).

Thank you for the support Dex! I'll think it over and see. My knees aren't so great these days, either, lol. I think I'd need a lot of Advil.

We will do it together your pace....

Heart Break Hill man! It's calling your name.....

Lol ....a cig at the finish...your killing me....
