TheDailyBeast: The Ron Paul Institute: Be Afraid, Very Afraid

The former presidential contender is back, this time as head of a new ‘institute’ for ‘peace’ comprised of anti-Semites, 9/11 truthers, and dictator-lovers. James Kirchick reports.

The newsletters’ content—a toxic stew of racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, sympathy for right-wing militia movements, and support for a litany of conspiracy theories—had been revealed by this writer in 2008. But Paul’s latter-day resurgence, particularly with young voters and the Tea Party, provoked a renewed round of interest in his shady associations and fringe beliefs. The title of a front-page article in The New York Times, “Paul Disowns Extremists’ Views but Doesn’t Disavow the Support,” neatly encapsulated Paul’s strategy of appealing to the far right while stopping just short of explicitly endorsing their views.

Ron Paul is bringing down the wall like Jericho!!! He is a intellectual Giant was a stacked brigade of liberty loving comrades. Compared to these neoconservative brainless think-ponds.

One of the biggest pitfalls in a "movment" is the temptation to get cultish about it and refuse to realize that it is only part of the picture. -Joel Salatin ; You Can Farm pg 202

A comment about lying and background checks

A few comments about lying and background checks.

First, I always check the backgrounds of writers that I know are lying to me.

Second, I will always mention the background of writers that I know are lying to me if those backgrounds reflect why or what they are lying about.

This particular "reporter" is Jewish, gay, a dual citizen, living overseas and a Marxist. Those are the very things almost every slander he connotes revolves around.

You might conjecture those things about him without reading his biography, but seeing that facts shouldn't be censored, and it's more factual to check things instead of assume them - read his bio.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

By the way,to the two who replied negatively to mentioning facts

Yes, I believe I recall both of you doing the exact same thing at the height of this man slandering Dr. Paul.

Facts should never be censored. If someone is calling everyone an anti-Semite, and he's an anti-American Jewish bigot living overseas, it's relevant. If someone is a Marxist, and he's constantly attacking free markets, it's relevant. If someone is calling everyone a homophobe, and he's received an award from the gay press, it's relevant.

You can't justify censoring any facts as a real libertarian, but especially in this case where it's relevant to the story. Real libertarians let the facts be where they are. The *reader* decides.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Kirchick actually believes

Kirchick actually believes his own bullshit. What a POS that guy is!

A nation of sheep breeds a government of wolves.

;-)))

First time to visit the Daily beast?
Damm those people are Mentally Ill. They should seek a Doctors attention as soon as possible!!.
I was a Neo con years ago. So glad i woke up!!
HOPE they do soon!!! They are so propagandized they don't even know it!. SAD!!! PEACE!!!

Methinks the system is afraid.

Very afraid.

Pandacentricism will be our downfall.

James Kirchick is a Zionist

James Kirchick is a Zionist neocon. So naturally he hates Ron Paul, just as rabid Zionist and war monger David Horowitz does. The neocons are responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people. They are much of the reason why America is hated in so much of the world. They are the reason why our veterans hospitals now have so many maimed and permanently injured casualties of war. And he dares to call *us* haters.

Open and shut case for

Open and shut case for business libel.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

I wouldn't worry about Jamie Kirchik

as the only people that take him serious would never be part of a peace institute anyway.

I would note how easily he uses 911 truther as a pejorative though, along with white supremacist. It should make some of you think about how you look to the rest of the world, and make you realize you are not "winning"

Not for nothing

but the 'white supremacist' charge can been taken down by pointing out that Paul has a more racially diverse following than nearly any other Republican.

Much like 'racist', 'white supremacist' seems to mean "any conservative/libertarian (often regardless of race) who openly makes their views known" more than anything else. Besides, you can't call someone an antisemite without throwing the supremacist charge out there along with it-- completes the whole "Nazi" picture that so many neocons like to paint of anyone who criticizes their favorite country (hint: not the U.S.)

As for what the rest of the world thinks; you mean the people who think being groped at airports is a good idea? The people who think that our endless wars are always justified? The people who think "you didn't build that"?

That's all fine

But with that attitude, you might as well give up politics.

Not that that's a bad thing, I often think it would be better to drop out, and focus more on living by my own terms, rather than spend time trying to convince more people.

But if you choose to be a contrarian, you shouldn't whine when the average person doesn't vote your way.

you are having a positive

you are having a positive impact on convincing others of this message, don't hesitate about that.

The writer is also a gay,

The writer is also a gay, Jewish foreign man, whose written for a host of marxist magazines.

No one here expects to sway everyone in the world to the views of liberty, and certainly not someone like that.

Just about anyone else.

Who cares if Kirchick is gay?

I don't care who Kirchick wants to bonk. Ron Paul doesn't either.

That might be part of Kirchick's groupthink but it's not part of mine.

Rubbish

Rubbish. His views are all conspiracy aided nonsense based on making things up on exactly that.

If you didn't know he was gay, jewish, foreign, or marxist, you'd wonder why he was constantly calling everyone else anti-Semite, anti-gay, or a capitalist pig.

His entire set of works revolves around slandering others that he perceives as threats, usually wrongly, towards his biases. And I don't mean a little bit. I mean his entire work revolves around this.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

It matters a great deal to this particular writer

What a person is may not matter to speaking the truth. But it may matter a great deal when someone is lying as to why they are lying.

Everything this writer makes up or smears about is reflected in exactly those things. Each slander last year, for instance, was either homosexual baiting, Jewish racist baiting, anti-American baiting, or based on his communist views. So, yes, a writer's background may reflect quite a bit about how to decode his writing, particularly his motives if he is making up stuff.

Looking at a writer's background should be a necessary stop for any good critique of writing, particularly if it's fiction.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

For that matter

who cares if he's Jewish?

I mean...yeah there's a common denominator when it comes to Jews and politics/media, can't deny that, but I just wish that people wouldn't point out someone's "Jewishness" as it were some sort of crime in and of itself. Plays right into the whole "antisemite" label.

A signature used to be here!

Facts matters a great deal - and shouldn't never be censored

Again, Rubbish.

If someone keeps accusing others of being anti-Semitic falsely, than the fact that he's Jewish with dual citizenship and living outside the United States by choice DEFINITELY MATTERS to reading the articles.

The background of a writer matters a great deal when interpretating stories. It suggests why things were written, for instance, in fiction, or in the case of political fiction - motive.

The writer is a homosexual jewish dual citizen marxist who apparently hates America. That isn't just conjecture from reading his works, that is his biography.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Kirchick is a pro-war, pro-Israel lobbyist and neocon hack.

James Kerchick, who had ties to the Newt Gingrich campaign, is a fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a pro-Israel, pro-war neocon think tank that is probably, at this very moment, lobbying for a U.S./Israeli attack on Iran.

Here's an excerpt from an article in American Conservative magazine about the FDD:

In early 2001, a tightly knit group of billionaire philanthropists conceived of a plan to win American sympathy for Israel’s response to the Palestinian intifada. They believed that the Palestinian cause was finding too much support within crucial segments of the American public, particularly within the media and on college campuses, so they set up an organization, Emet: An Educational Initiative, Inc., to offer Israel the kind of PR that the Israeli government seemed unable to provide itself.

At first, Emet floundered, without an executive director or a well-defined mission. But that changed after Sept. 11, and Emet changed too, into what is now the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. The name is different, but the goal of influencing America’s opinion-forming classes remains.

According to 2001 article in Foreign Policy Magazine, the FDD...

"...has been in the vanguard of the campaign for war with Iran, reflexively supportive of the Israeli right, and a fertile source of fear-mongering Islamophobia. It will therefore surprise no one that its primary financial backers are also hard-core Zionists, and that the democracy it seems most committed to defending is located far from Washington D.C. "

Ron Paul wants to end all foreign welfare payments, including aid to Israel. Ron Paul wants to keep us out of undeclared, unconstitutional wars in the Middle East. Ron Paul is not a collectivist, so he doesn't believe in special status or benefits or treatment for certain groups or religions or nationalist movements like Zionism. In other words, Ron Paul is everything James Kirchick is not.

It's a simple case of "follow the money."

Very true. I think it is time

Very true. I think it is time for a crowdsourced expose on Kirchick. The man has no journalistic talent or integrity, he is kept around by beltway types and publications simply as quid pro quo for smearing Ron Paul on demand.

ok

The beast goes on my boycott list right next to cnn, never to be clicked on again..........ever.

Banned list

Hope you add Fox to that list because Fox spelled backward is Jew War Lobby.

I wonder

Does Mr. Kirchick rely on people not actually looking at the links he puts in his articles. He makes big claims about the people he is tearing down, but when you read the articles for which he is tearing them down (which are convenintly linked) they tend to not say or conclude what Mr. Kirchick accuses them of saying and concluding. I have read other articles by Mr. Kirchick, and they tend to follow this pattern to a tee. Dies this guy really think so little of his readers that he will lie to their face, and then link to the proof of his lies and exagerations knowing very very few will ever follow those links?

Unfortunately

I believe that the majority of his readers probably won't click on those links. They will assume he is being truthful based only on the fact that links are provided. Too many people aren't willing to do the little bit of extra reading in order to form their own conclusions... it's much easier for them to just let someone tell them what to think.

Why should anyone be afraid of the truth. It has been said, "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free".

Its high time American's knew the truth about our government and all of its policies.

Another man seeking truth, Derrick Grayson aka TMOT (The Minister of Truth) has formed an exploratory committee in consideration of a run for the US Senate. http://www.graysoncommittee.com

More truth please!

I wanted to expose people to other points of view, after all.

But I thought it was more worth it to them to get me to register on their site than for me to reveal an alternative point of view to a bunch of paid trolls, and maybe even some robo-trolls. Not gonna reward them for bad behavior.
