Thought Experiment: What If Ron Were To Run In 2016 As A Democrat?

Just a crazy idea not yet 12 seconds old...

The idea is floating around that Ron Paul might run for president again in 2016. The assumption is that he would never try it again as a Libertarian or independent, but most likely as a Republican.

Makes me wonder: why not run as a Democrat?

There is certainly a lot of support on the 'left', particularly among the younger folks. The two-party system is a joke anyway. And best-case scenario, Ron debates Rand in run up to election?!?

Probably just a thought experiment, but still something that could happen in this cool, cruel, crazy world...

Ron Paul has said "if you're not having fun, you're not doing it right." I think a run in 2016 as a Democrat could be a lot of fun.

What do you think?

good educational opportunity

He fits in just as well with the Democrats as the Republicans. I doubt he would do it though.

democrats would LOATHE Ron...

He's pro-life and wants to cut the Dept of Ed. Those two things alone would eliminate him from the primary.

There's a reason he decided the best party to run with is the Republicans.

Liberty does need a voice in the democratic party, but I don't think we should put that burden on Ron.

I'll tell you one thing

that would happen: Ron Paul would STILL have my vote.

Ron Paul would have even less

Ron Paul would have even less chance of winning as a Democrat than he would as a Republican. Yes, the mainstream Republicans don't like him because he favors peace and non-interventionism. But the Democrats love big government and entitlements, so wouldn't give him the time of day.

In any case, the brute fact is that at his age Paul is very unlikely to run for national office ever again.

The reason why it would be intersting

The reason why it would be interesting is to see the Democrat party treating Dr. Paul exactly the same.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

This idea has already come up

This idea has already come up for Gary Johnson to run in the democratic primaries. It'd be great to have a liberty candidate on both sides.

Sure...

If you wanna siphon off votes from Rand Paul and his republican supporters ensuring neither win the election... but thats just my opinion lol.

LIVE FREE OR DIE

I think you meant to say siphon off votes from Hillary.

Hillary Clinton that is...

It was probably the pandas.
