Ron Paul sticker indicate a possible criminal?

Idaho State Police Harassment of Ron Paul Supporter

Is this a Police State? It is interesting that when the Troopers see the Ron Paul bumper stickers they make a comment like they feel there might be something they can arrest me for.

I was driving on Interstate 84 through Boise when I suddenly heard a very load noise coming from my car. I pulled off at the next available exit and noticed an Idaho State Police vehicle which already had somebody pulled over. Not wanting to interfere or be too close to them, I stopped on the off ramp about 1000 feet behind them. At that time I proceeded to find a few tools, pop the hood of my car, and make a quick roadside repair. By the time I had finished and was getting back in my car, sure enough, the State Troopers had turned their car around, drove the wrong direction down the off ramp, and pulled in behind me with their lights on. At first they acted like they were just concerned for my safety and asked if everything was OK. I told them it was, but then they wanted to know where I was going and what I was doing when I got there. I didn't want to be a jerk, so I simply told them it was for business. That was when they asked for my ID and I told them no.

Normally, when you are driving, and stopped by the police, you must give them your ID. Police can't stop you, while you are driving, and just ask for your ID. They need to have a reason. These Idaho State Troopers had no reason! I told them that over and over.
We argued back and forth for a couple of minutes and then the State Trooper in charge threatened me with going to jail. It wasn't so much the threat of jail that made me comply; It was more that I just didn't have the time to spend a day in jail as I was on my way to a business appointment.

Good video Idahomadman. Keep your camera rolling? The more of this stuff you do the better you get at it. This isn't a critique, just feedback... I would've asked for a copy of the Supreme Court ruling he claims gave him the authority to hassle you. If that didn't work, I would've then asked to talk to his supervisor. I would've rolled up the windows with just a crack of a gap so he could hear me and sit and wait until his supervisor showed up. Yes, it's a waste of time. Yes, it will piss you off. But I like to think of it as long as I am waiting for them to do the right thing, it's one less person they are out there violating.

This is really outrageous

It's discrimination. I wonder what Ron Paul would have to say about this?

Excellent you got their video and filed a complaint. I would have loved it if that jerk's gal Friday had said, "But I support Ron Paul, too!" HAHAHA That idiot cop would have had a fit!

Are you going ahead with a Title 42 USC lawsuit?

Anytime a public servant violates your constitutional rights we need to start filing Title 42 USC §1983 lawsuits.

Don't you know.. only the @sshole cops are the good guys

Everyone else is bad.

The cops have a saying... "It is them Vs. us." And they mean this when they say it.

Cops are in the business of pre-crime... Pre-crime is basically any activity that might be associated with costing an insurance company money.

Cops work for the insurance industry, but most are TOO STUPID to even realize this FACT.

99% of a cop's work looking at insurance lobbied pre-crime crap as opposed to an act that actually involves a VICTIM.

I say no victim, no crime.

.

Never thought of that

I had never thought about the link between all the revenue created by the police, and their tickets, with the insurance companies. Good point!

Pure genius! What does his bumper sticker tell you?

Ahhh...that he supports Ron Paul? I can't stop laughing!

bumper sticker

It's really a small part of the video, but I thought the Ron Paul community would really enjoy that. Notice it was the only part I added captions for!

Thanks!

The ISP recently pulled me over for not having my turn signal on for 5 seconds before we turned. We turned "suddenly" (we DID use our turn signal) because the asshole was tailgating us... I need a dashcam, I would have taken it to court.

How Did You Get The Police Video

out of this hired goon and hired goon in training?

skippy

Video

To get the video I had to file a request for the report/record of our interaction. I didn't know what they had, so I just asked for any information regarding our contact. Generally the State, City, or County police have to give you that, and sometimes you have to pay for it. I would say it was worth it.

:)

You really intimidated that male cop and made him look like a complete pussy to the lady cop he was training. Nicely done! The Constitution is to tyrants as garlic is to vampires. Score another one for liberty!!!!

Unfortunately, this is not a

Unfortunately, this is not a point for liberty. The police violated his rights and got away with it.

Well, I think as a result the older cop likely

went back and clarified what drivers' rights actually are in the case of an already-stopped car (if not other scenarios as well). That's a plus! He was clearly concerned about a complaint being registered against him. And by now he knows, too, that the driver got a copy of the police tape. That's probably something else he'll want to avoid in the future. So I think some good did come out of it. But also, don't think this incident didn't have an effect on the rookie cop. SHE saw what was going on.

The younger Trooper

I hope you're right about the younger Trooper. She had some hesitation and was being bullied around by the older Trooper.

I cannot stand bullies...

I wrote-in Ron Paul,
acted as a rep. for the state of Oregon in the nation-wide lawsuit filed by Richard Gilbert esquire,
I wore my wrote-in Ron Paul campaign t-shirt to the store tonight...

no criminal history,
husband, father to two and American Citizen...not a US citizen...

this makes me sick.

So

What was your reaction?

Did you file a complaint? What was the result of the complaint?
How did you obtain the video?

I'm in the process of filing the complaint. I will keep everyone up to date on that.

Do you have people helping you?

If not, and you need it, PM me and I will send you the name of the guy I would call if it were me.
