The draft thing idea sounds a little extreme. Just say this continued war will bankrupt america and DO NOT USE THE WORD EMPIRE. I think paul makes a huge mistake using the word empire. If he would just say these wars are bankrupting america and that we cannot help anyone if america is in the financial toilet.
Romney already leads in Delegates and has more money than us. People who know nothing about Economics (most voters) will tempted to believe Romney's BS because of his buisness background. How do we beat him?
.
I am not a psychic or clairvoyant, but I knew - the moment that Fred "Flubber" Thompson announced his candidacy - that it would only be a matter of time before he hit the wall.
Back then I suggested he would better serve the United States if he learned to play the banjo and sing "Zip-a-dee Doo-dah." I hope he does this - or re-start Hee-Haw and star in it. I bet Flubber has lots of folksy stories he could tell, sitting in a rockin' chair on a front porch in Tennessee. Or maybe he could mosey down to the fishin' hole and catch himself a catfish. These are all admirable pursuits for Flubber, but not running for the presidency.
Seems like a decent sort, but just way, way out of his league.
.
He was one of the people that would buy a company, slice and dice it for a profit and then resell the stripped hull. He never actually ran a business, and in fact, when he was governor, his state performed well below national average.
Oops... This was meant as a reply to below where he asked about Romney's background.

Thompson was my 2nd choice after Ron Paul, a distant second I swear!
There's no way Lieberman and Mccain teamed together will get anything. They could do fine in a general election but talk radio would team up to anhilate that idea before the nomination. I think it was Deutchsbanc or someother large financial firm with Deutch in the name that stated if the if the economy goes extremely south then Ron Paul could get the nomination and win. Does anyone know Romney's so called business expierence? Whenever I hear him talk about the economy he sounds as clueless as guiliani or mccain. How is that he has 200 million dollars of wealth?
Can someone clear that up with me? I'm startin to think his parents' clout is what got him high positions in corporations. He's another bush it seems.
First. If someone is really hardcore like wanting to bomb Iran they will be tough to convince. There are alot of republicans that don't want another Veitnam and are more into this war for prides sake. They can be reasoned with I think. Use this approach.
First we acheived everything we wanted in Iraq. We verified there were no weapons, and we got rid of Saddam. Ron Paul want to take not only those troops but all of our troops home from places like Japan and Germany where they don't help us at all.
So now we will have over 1/2 million troops at home rested and ready. They will be available for border, coast, and port security. If we are attacked and there is a state that can be held responsible and Congress actually declares war then Ron Paul will have the largest Army rested and ready. Right now Iran doesn't see us as much of a thread because we are bogged down in Iraq. If we get out of their backyard it will calm then down and also having all those troops available will shut them up. It's a win win.
You know if I were a southerner sitting out on the front porch drinking my mint Jullep, Thompson would be my man. He's actually pretty funny, nice enough, personable....however a strong looking leader he is not.
I can see going out fishing with Thompson out of all the candidates, but that's about it. He didn't really have any platform except "I'm an easy going conservative southerner..if ya like me, vote for me"
Once Huckabee joins Thompson and goes bye bye....the republicans have a problem. Who is the most socially conservative candidate on issues like the constitution and abortion?
Romney? No. Giuliani? No. McCain? No. All moderates and flipfloppy on issues. That only leaves one man: Ron Paul.
It seems as though many local "insiders" here in Florida are backing Romney. I do see some Ron Paul signs on the main roads here in Sarasota County (yes, Katherine Harris country). We're having a meet-up here tonight, and we're fairly well organized. However, we are up against a lot here in the Sunshine State. The GOP wants a clear front runner to emerge at this point. I think they are a bit torn between McCain and Romney, but I can't help but think that a McCain / Liebermann ticket will ultimately emerge after Fred T endorses McCain and.....well, you know the rest. At this point we need to keep fighting and growing our movement. If RP doesn't get the nomination, I think that a 3rd party run is in order!!! By that time, our movement might be strong enough to move mountains.

And his withdrawal story on MSNBC's website makes mention of the other GOP candidates, but nothing about Dr. Paul. Nothing about his candidacy. Nothing about his raising nearly $2 million this week. Nothing at all, as if he did not even exist.
I'm beginning to believe that once Dr. Paul is elected President we'll never hear about him again. He'll continue to be a non-entity.
This type of reporting makes me sick. No wonder people have never heard of him. I'm going to hundreds of houses this weekend to leave literature and that might be some potential voters' first exposure to Dr. Paul.
We cannot depend upon the "old stream news media" to inform people. We must do it ourselves. Let's rededicate our efforts. Let's spread the word. Let the Revolution continue.
Far be it from me to yell through the bullhorn to do something, but since I have no talent or resources to do video editing, I will :) ... what do you guys think about this: Create some very good Youtube videos highlighting POSITIVES about Thompson and then compare them to Paul's views. Focus on the positives ..... have the videos go viral and hopefully at least the open-minded Fred supporters might be convinced to take another look.....

soooo... thompson is out! giuliani's people are having to work for free and he's finished 6th or last in 5 of the 6 primaries, only beating RP once, by 1%... and ol' huckabee (media darling) = http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080122/ap_on_el_pr/huckabee_money
Great Idea, I was thinking the same. I just signed up for a name at the forums, awaiting approval. I'll see you on the blogs. Everyone please be nice and sympathetic . Explain that Huck, McCain and Romney are spenders and Rudy is off on the moral issues. I at one time before hearing Ron Pauls message was a Thompson supporter. Paul is now the only fiscal and moral conservative in the race.
If they research Dr. Paul, they'll join us for sure. In spite of the mean and ill-informed comment or two their former candidate had for RP during a couple of the debates....
On a side note, here in Georgia Martha Zollar had some "semi" complimentary statements about RP this morning on her radio show, hosted just outside of Atlanta. She still thinks she wouldn't want him as President, she says, but certainly VP or head of OMB (which she said she thought he'd be "more than perfect" for). Wish she'd consider a bit more deeply her thoughts on his Presidential bid, but it was good to hear several complimentary statements from a southern Conservative. She complimented his character, intelligence, etc. Not a perfect piece, but at least it was positive overall.
False!!! MANY Fred supporters had Ron Paul as their #2; they just chose Fred Thompson because they thought he was a more electable small federal government conservative.
Many FT supporters will go to Ron Paul. Fred Thompson was highly critical of the other top tier for their terrible records, and these criticisms are true and they don't go away now that he is out.

TWO WAYS - The Draft & Flip-Flopping
1) His continuous support for the war will cause an upcoming draft for men and women 18-42 years old.
2) He is a major flip-flopper. See the videos in "other candidates" section at www.BestRonPaulVideos.com

A way to get to pro-war Republicans.

Thompson was personable

How about
the fix is in for Rudy (I'm not kidding)
and McCain/Leiberman will be a Third Party ticket, as well as Bloomberg.

Thompson favors the Patriot Act
One contrast that can be drawn is that Thompson favors the Patriot Act while Ron Paul wants to protect our Bill of Rights and our Privacy.

You liked Thomson because he was Reagonesque. ( I guess cause they were both actors) but Ron Paul is the most Reagonesque republican!
