My point wasn't to point at Gandhi, but rather to understand

why he liked Jesus, but not Christians. From what I can tell there is a disconnect between what he understood of Jesus and what he saw from those who named the name of Christ. That is my concern because I do not want to be a stumbling block to anyone. Jesus is to be the stumbling block, not those who claim his name.

Wrong

Gandhi did not institute Hindu cast system. In fact, he fought against the cast system.

" Gandhi instituted the Hindu

" Gandhi instituted the Hindu caste system once the British rule dispersed."

Patently absurd. At least read wiki or something before making yourself look stupid.

Search 'harijans' for quick education.

You would do yourself a great

You would do yourself a great service if you looked to the man Gandhi pretended to be, Dr. Ambedkar. You should also, look into the Exposing of Mohandas Gandhi. There are a few books on the subject, whit Gandhi himself as the source of the info. As Dr. Ambedkar says in the interview -linked below- Gandhi wrote one thing in one language and something different in English.

You could aslo check out Gandhism.net

I'm sure if I read Decision Points by GWB, it would say that GWB was a great man doing the best any human could do in his position; it would certainly highly points to make him look better than he really was.

Saying look at this book this guy wrote to see how great that guy who wrote the book was. Yes I know it wasn't a typical book, it's comprised of many of the things he said and parts of his Newspaper by the same name.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar BBC Interview 1955 - Exposing Gandhi & Condemning Pune Pact

There is plenty more evidence out there if one truly wishes to look.

Ambedkar for many years in my

Ambedkar for many years in my eyes was an extremist pushing the agenda of lower castes. Do you know 50% of all seats in higher education, 50% of all govt. job, and 50% of all promotions in govt. Jobs except the All India services are RESERVED.

There are reserved constituencies in which only lower castes can even stand for elections. Do these sound like the principles of liberty to you? Well Ambedkar was the guy most influential in making these happen.

Gandhi stayed in the houses of lower castes in a time when no Brahmin would. Just for your information, the caste system has been entrenched in our society since antiquity, so in any case your statement about Gandhi establishing the caste system was absolutely absurd.

During partition have you heard what happened in Punjab? Gandhi was in West Bengal where similar or worse events were expected. Guess what? There was no violence. His very presence stopped it.

He was humble and not attracted to political power which he could easily have had. He also gave the lower castes a new name to reduce the stigma around them. 'Harijans", people of god.

No man is perfect and Gandhi had many flaws, but for all that he has done he stands head and shoulders above most of humanity.

For the record, I came to realize how in many ways India is unique and that BR Ambedkar was fully justified in trying to raise the poor majority up to the level and beyond of the upper castes and he has to a degree been successful.I laud him for that but wonder what it may have been like without affirmative action.

Dominic Lapierre and Larry Collins mention a lot of Gandhi's flaws in their book 'Freedom at Midnight' but do not fail to give him the credit he deserves. I suggest you also take a more balanced view on the man instead of accepting others' biased opinions as your own.

First of all I never said

First of all I never said that Gandhi established the caste system. I stated to the effect that Gandhi had it re-introduced after the British left. While the caste system might not have disappeared 100% while the British where in charge, it became far more troublesome after they left.

I never said that Dr. Ambedkar was pro liberty, I said that he was the man Gandhi was pretending to be.

You could read this
and this

The inconsistency of advocating for peace and non-violence but helping the British suppress the Zulu and recruiting Indians to fight on the side of the British in WWI.

I could say that you are accepting the biased opinion of others as your own. It has been shown that there are two Gandhi's the Myth and the Historical Record; you believe the Myth as does most people because they never encounter the historical record because they never look for it.

I love that the last direct

I love that the last direct quote comes from 1899, almost 50 years before his assassination.

Gandhi did not discriminate against the lower castes and he felt that giving them additional benefits might engender hostility between the castes. A view with which I now disagree, but which is completely consistent with the principles of liberty.

Every man has done enough evil to paint him as the devil if one so chose. Gandhi just did a lot more good than most ever do. He had courage and conviction.

If you want to villify mother Teresa or even Ron Paul, you could. The story of Ron Paul's newsletters should give some credence to this statement. The fact that his contemporaries held him in such high regard in their testimonies should hold some weight at least.

As for why he was known as father of the nation. Haha, I found the article very funny. Everywhere he used to go people used to go, people used to call him 'Bapu' or 'Bapuji' which means father. Since everyone called him that someone remarked that he was the father of the whole nation. Sometimes even today he is referred to as just Bapu. I don't know if I ha e explained it adequately , but I assure its not some evil conspiracy.

Christians are called to depart false prophets & false teachers

Christians are called to depart false prophets & false teachers, not to hang around and grow a false church with them. 2 Peter 2

To depart such as these is not to hate them. That is an overstatement.

We are to read and listen to all of the words of the bible, not just the politically correct stuff that 99 out of 100 false churches tickle the ears with.

One sign of a real Christian is that they will endlessly debate scripture with you. If they take it personal and run off calling you names because they don't like to debate... well, they clearly have not been like Job and his friends, where Iron sharpens Iron.

A false Christian usually gets offended easily when you take the time and effort to try to help him and yourself increase one another's countenance.

.

I don't understand what your comment has to do with my comment

But I will say your words inspired some thoughts.

You said:
"One sign of a real Christian is that they will endlessly debate scripture with you. If they take it personal and run off calling you names because they don't like to debate... well, they clearly have not been like Job and his friends, where Iron sharpens Iron. "

Jesus said this:
John 13:35 KJV
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

From that I hear, I will know a Christian by love, not by an ability to debate scripture.

You say this:
"A false Christian usually gets offended easily when you take the time and effort to try to help him and yourself increase one another's countenance."

Paul said this:
Romans 14:15 KJV
But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

From that I hear, if my brother is unlearned in the scripture and unable to debate, I am not to destroy him.

Paul told Timothy to do this:
Timothy 2:24 KJV
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

You say this:
"Christians are called to depart false prophets & false teachers, not to hang around and grow a false church with them. 2 Peter 2"

(2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring indamnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.)

Paul says this:
Romans 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

I hear this: There is a difference between false teachers and prophets and those that are weak in their faith.

I also hear this a time and place for this:

Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

I hope to make a difference.

"Romans 14:15 KJV
But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

From that I hear, if my brother is unlearned in the scripture and unable to debate, I am not to destroy him."

This is a good takeaway for me tonight, and I'll read this particular post later, as I haven't heard this scripture expressed quoted on a thread before, and it's good studying.

This sub-thread saddens me.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Not sure a real Christian

Not sure a real Christian wants to endlessly debate scripture.

We have a better source of understanding, the Holy Spirit, and if I am just trying to learn, praying and studying the Holy Bible by myself is a lot better than discussion.

I don't like all the talk about "real Christians" on this thread - you here, and someone else earlier. One sign of immaturity is an over concern over who is a real Christian. God knows who is his own! And also, debate with less mature Christians or non-Christians I sometimes like to avoid. It depends on the purpose.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Whats the chances of someone

Whats the chances of someone finding these fellas, asking them questions, and recieving anything other then "no comment"

Good god, there are bad

Good god, there are bad fiction stories better than this.

First, its he shot himself in an apparent suicide attempt.(I had to question this to begin with because you shoot yourself in the head if you want to commit suicide, not the neck)
Next, its he wasnt armed while in the boat.
Then, its finally changed to this where its a knife wound?

I am sorry, but while I am forgiving of some stuff, this jumping around in the story is utterly rediculous. I could see them maybe getting it wrong at first because of hearsay whatever, but its changed into 3 different stories. Someone fucked up.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

The original narrative was

The original narrative suggested the boy tried to kill himself, in this version, with a knife. Did he have a knife? From what I understand we now know he was unarmed. SMH

The narrative just won't hold together.

A cut from shrapnel - that would not bleed so much, and that would leave you able to leave a boat without assistance. But while the story included raging gun battles, we needed everyone to think the kid had a gun, so the neck wound became a "gunshot" - self inflicted. Now we know the boy had NO GUN....
Did you see the article I posted about the boys' Uncle? Close connection to a CIA "rogue" agent per Sibel Edmonds.

The lighting and camera angle show no neck wound

He had a magic, bloodless, shrapnel wound to the neck, really?

Look, I'm trying to be generous.

The lack of any pools of blood in the boat, the lack of blood on his shirt, it stinks to high HELL if there was a bullet wound. At least a shrapnel wound could be minor enough to not bleed profusely. Of course, one that minor would not render one silent, would it? But I am trying to throw what bones I may to those who insist I am seeing what I want to see.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Is it called generous when you toss them dry bones?

We can, in good humor, hide our outrage at this major credulity test; but just because some folks want things to always be as they're told doesn't mean we ought to coddle them by pretending to see what clearly isn't there, eh?

If this is the brothers in

If this is the brothers in the shootout with police, which I don't expect you to admit, but I think is clearly the case. Do you not see one of them with a gun pointed back at police in this picture?
http://www.policemag.com/channel/patrol/news/2013/04/23/neig...

No way to tell if that is indeed another pressure cooker bomb as is suspected, not claiming that, but one of them with a gun pointing back at police can be seen.
Why couldn't have the younger brother have been shot during this standoff where 200 rounds were fired? He was bleeding before the cops ever knew he was in the boat, the boat owner attests to that, so he apparently already had some injuries.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/23/us/boston-attacks-boat-owner/i...

I am just saying I don't know and you don't know, but it does seem likely he was injured before they ever knew he was hiding in the boat.

"if this is the brothers in the shoot out... "

What is it you expect me to admit or deny? I don't know. I have seen pictures of the first one spread eagle onthe ground before he was stropped naked, with no ripped up clothes, blood or any bullet wounds. Saw him walk on his won, naked, into a cop car. Now he's dead. That bothers me. I certainly don't claim I know what happened, that is why I ask questions.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

I'm sorry,

but you never saw suspect 1 naked entering the cop car. That was a drunk college kid arrested because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. His name was out there and is slowly disappearing, luckily for him. You can find it if you look for it. It was also stated on the police scanner that night who the person being arrested was, before they had names for Speedbump and Suspect 2

Who knows what could have happened to his gun?

Last night on a CNN show they were showing 50 or 60 people in white hazmat bunny suits sifting through the landfill looking for their laptops. Some how they found out someone ditched Tamerlan's computer so they are going through the dump with a fine tooth comb.
Dzhokar was only found with his ID. School ID and Driver lic. and a wallet.

Don't deny he may have been injured before getting into the

boat but the helicopter photo of him climbing OUT of the boat doesn't look like he's got blood on his face or around the top of his shirt. I wonder if something happened when they "grabbed him and ran like hell"? Like maybe they drug him handcuffed over something sharp in the yard? Not saying the cops didn't intentionally do something to him either.

In the helicopter photo,

In the helicopter photo, there is a spotlight on him and his dark blue sweatshirt looks white all except the left arm. So if you can't even see the yellow stripe on his sweatshirt or tell that it is dark blue, how can you expect to be able to see blood?

Look how bloody his face is in the picture of him on the

ground handcuffed. That would surely have shown in the photo - his hair color showed for example.
