What To Do When Daily Paul Is Gone

I take Nystrom at his word. DP is nearing its end and he will pursue other projects. Godspeed to him. He has surely reached more people than I ever will. Those of you with real practical goals, including Michael, can consider the following.

***

1. politician vetting

We should realize that our movement and community will become the most coveted source of donations and fundraising for up and coming politicians.

We will be viewed as cash cows, suckers and PREY by thousands of political climbers looking to appropriate the 'Ron Paul' name brand and wield Paulian rhetoric as a path to power.

We need a serious effort to identify and vet genuine worthy candidates from opportunists and hucksters, if we are to prevent the complete coopting and dilution of the message, a la the Tea Party 2008-2012.

This doesn't mean we are 100% purists, we do have to accept some degree of self-interest and maneuvering on the part of all politicians, but some degree of vetting is absolutely necessary to maintain the ideological focus of our ideas and the integrity of the Paul brand.

2. home school curriculum

publishing / private teachers and tutors / lecturing

We can take a page from the Christian movement in America to build alternative educational bodies and infrastructure, including publishing, textbooks, guidelines for homeschoolers, etc. Parents cannot be expected to do this all on their own. Many won't even attempt it if there is no credible support structure to turn to.

3. raising/grooming political candidates

retreats / camps / training

4. to expand on 2 & 3 -- political 'bootcamps,' youth summer camp, setting up simple primary school workshops to assist the homeschooling movement, forming homeschooling collectives with shared responsibility between parents, all on the way toward building an alternative educational establishment.

5. accreditation institutions, outside of official college/university system

The accreditation will indicate to us that the school and the student has gone through an educational process deemed proper according to the tenets of our ideological community.

6. "mutual aid" societies/fraternities

Helping each other, working together, knowing who we are, building a common sense of identity outside of, underneath and above present institutions.

7. commercial collectives

Same as 6 but on a commercial level. This can incorporate elements of private currency, like barter organizations, or local scrip issuers, but presumably based around some hard currency component.

8. legal defense funds and legal aide to help us navigate the legal hurdles and pitfalls in creating and implementing these ideas and bodies

9. cultural, non documentary media

10. lobbying, especially local educational lobbying organizations to influence choice of texts and curriculum, perhaps even national lobbying organizations.

We have to play the game as it is actually played, not as we wish it would be played.

The Constitution may be our rallying cry, the bill of rights our '95 theses' nailed to the establishments door, but -- we need to recognize the small 'c' constitution of power as it actually exists, and engage in it according to its rules and realities.

11. scholarships.

12. fundraising for all projects, especially single purpose projects like production of media

We should pioneer the use of chip-in style fundraising to organize goal based projects. We can contract writers, producers, managers and other non-political talent to carry out projects on a one-time basis to produce a project embraced by the grassroots.

The whole scope of our activity should be aimed at creating an alternative society and set of institutions under the radar and off the grid of our official, corrupt and sclerotic institutions.

Something living, vibrant and lasting beyond single election cycles. Something to catalyze our energies, focus our efforts, and employ our time and talent in a way that accumulates rather than squanders them.

This means building social capital, including institutional and economic capital, and having structures in place to subsume the roles of the state structures we hope to see disappear.

This isn't the job or work of the campaign -- the campaign will be over one way or another by the end of 2012.

This is your work and my work for the next 5 to 10 years and beyond, whether we succeed on the the political level or not. The future doesn't pause because we win or fail to win an election.

Whatever is coming, we need to be there for each other in more than mere words and sentiment

OK just a suggestion, hear me out.

I mean how about we take it in a different direction, sell our possessions, don sack cloth, daub our faces with ashes, build a massive pyre and throw ourselves into it screaming?

Just think about it, talk it over for a bit.

Get your preps together! Learn historic food storage and preservation methods and the science that makes them work now, start saving money and the future

just an observation and feeling

I think I would like your post better if you would delete 1-12 and leave in the part below it. The 1-12 seems to be just political techniques that have been around for eons....copying old ideas. The other discussion seems more like living life in a new way and making a base.

I think the folks who are burned out and discouraged will be surprised at how life changes down the line. Later you will see what you set into motion and you can be proud.

I like this site because there are so many different people here. The disagreements are what provoke thought and reflection.

We shoUld definitely do those

We shoUld definitely do those things, regardless... But please keep the DP going. It's my favorite news source! I check it daily! Thanks to everyone who posts!

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. - Matthew 10:16

I hope it keeps going, too.

The loss would really be felt.

Maybe someone will start one...

...called "Here Comes the Judge"...inspired by...guess who?

When one door closes, many doors open.

This is my first post. I started reading the daily paul daily about 6 years ago. It has been one hell of a ride. There is no other site devoted to Paul that comes close. The ride has only begun Mr. Nystrom. Through the years this site has come under attack by unforeseen forces. We stand together none the less. We are on the way up. Keep loading the wagon and quit worrying about the mule going blind. Ron Paul taught me more than just the conspiracy. I believe in myself and we don't need the gubermint to show us the way. I quote Dr. Paul, "We are in it to win it."

Give me Liberty or Give me death.

dailypaul is the best site for our movement.

That being said maybe Rand Paul should do some leading and speak to us directly. Because of us Rand became a national figure. Because of us we helped hand him a Senate seat. Without us where would Rand be?

If Rand wants to be respected by this community he she take it upon himself to lead us. Rand is the only person that can unite us. It will take bold leadership and speaking directly to the most fervent base in politics.

We matter. We didn't donate, work and set the stage for him for nothing. There has to be a way we unite.

The greatest leaders throughout history have emerged during the hardest times.I'll keep my fingers crossed.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

TO: MICHAEL NYSTROM

"The problem is people who live with their backs to the future, always looking to the past to determine how they think things should be in the present.

The DP is not the same as it was because the times are not the same as they were.

Why the fascination with how things were rather than how things are? People who cannot let go of the past will never make their way into the future."

That is the biggest cop-out that I have read. Head my words: Without knowing where we came from, where we started, there will be little forward direction. Your statement is exactly what opposition is using to mold this nation into something other than Liberty, Freedom. History is filled with folk songs, traditions, story telling, in order to remember those valuable times and lessons in life. Look at the TV as of late. It is so-called reality shows, war shows, shows that entertain by others grief. It is nothing but chaos. This is now our culture, none of which resemble Little House, Happy Days, and the like. It is up to those who remember and recite to make our history/values popular again.

I have refrained from participating on this board for 3 reasons. First, it has become somewhat unrecognizable; it is ebbs and flows. Second, because I needed a break from this place. Third, because I am actively and diligently working on local/state initiatives. But that does NOT mean that I do not visit here twice daily looking for cumulative/valuable news and uncensored opinions/discussion.

Ron Paul did not quit. I did not quit. Nobody likes a quitter, and I am saying that to you.

My suggestion is this: Take a break. Regroup and rethink. If you are then unable to maintain this place, offer it to somebody who can. Even though we have disagreed from time to time, I have 100% admired the hard work that you have put into this place. Quitting now, just when we [Liberty] need this place, just when things are beginning to get underway, will be a slap in the face to all who have and continue to work so hard. You may consider this a personal decision, a business decision, but it goes well beyond that. You are part of this and have an obligation to see it through.

You get my drift so I will end here. Take a break Michael, and get back on the horse. GRRRRRRRR.

If it is frn's, let me know. Things are slightly a little better this month.

PS: It was me who voted your post down.

WHY????

We need someone to continue the site??? Can't he just hand it to a fellow supporter to take it over and carry on the Daily Paul?

Good idea!

If there is someone who can devote themselves in the same manner.

Nothing is ever the same as it was

The problem is people who live with their backs to the future, always looking to the past to determine how they think things should be in the present.

The DP is not the same as it was because the times are not the same as they were.

Why the fascination with how things were rather than how things are? People who cannot let go of the past will never make their way into the future.

I don't understand...

..though, why whatever you see as now gone could not be brought back. I get the feeling that everyone got so burnt out from the campaign, that we're all kind of exhausted and sitting back waiting for somebody to reinvigorate the movement. What seems to be missing is that upbeat, underdog optimism that was so vibrant a year ago. Of course the news headlines can take the wind out of the sails in the meantime as well, adding to that mental, emotional exhaustion.

That's because there isn't

That's because there isn't any set objectives for right now.

For instance, sponsoring a bill to take back our rights. The opposition's do it all the time to terrorize everyone, can do it to give people hope too.

End the Fed rallies.

Speaking rallies of Ron Paul,

Candidates for 2014.

etc.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

there are a bunch, actually Amash may be running for Senate,

many states are doing nullification bills mostly on guns or NDAA, and people should push those locally... Frankly Ron still is the message to me, so his youtubes etc are the ones I push....

But I'm remembering one of Ron's interviews where he said 'I'm not just trying to get elected -- I'm trying to change the direction of the wind!'

It's a big task and we have to recruit reinforcements constantly, imho.

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

I am burnt out too.

So what. I am still fighting.

Do something about it. If you are stuck, pm me and I will help.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

I'm doing my part with Ben Swann

I can't say whether it'll be the game-changer we envision it will be because that will take time to see it all pan out. But we have big ambitions and are aiming to make a huge dent in the media spectrum beginning on June 1st. I've been a filmmaker for over 15 years now and have worked with a solid range of celebrities and business leaders and among them.........Swann is absolute tops. He can galvanize the movement. He is the only other man I have seen have the presence and integrity of Ron Paul.

There's much more to him than his Reality Check/Full Disclosure segments have led on to. I've had the unique privilege to observe this numerous times. There are many layers to this man and he has the goods to make a real difference. So, for what it's worth, please know there are many out there who are working insanely hard at the next big thing for Liberty.

Ultimately, it's up the market if this will be as successful and as game-changing as we think it can be, but we are definitely swinging for the fences. Time will tell.

That is so...

...encouraging and exciting to hear! Will stay tuned to check out what you guys are up to in June. :)

Exhaustion

Is a good way to describe it.

Sometimes it feels like people say, "Oh, here's some terrible, depressing, crappy news. I think I'll post it on the Daily Paul."

I'm guilty of it too. I think the reason is that we want to reinforce how shitty the world is.

Heaven up there is looking to relive the magic with Rand Paul.

To me that is like saying, "I didn't get the girl I wanted, so let me try out her sister," which is a logical fallacy when you understand that everyone is an individual.

- - -

We all remember the upbeat, underdog optimism you speak of. But even with Rand it will be impossible to duplicate here because this community is so split on Rand. It is just going to be one huge fight. I can see it coming. Like the Gary Johnson days, only bigger and uglier.

How to mitigate it? How to avoid it?

Ban those at the extremes, who can't control themselves. Both those who respond with, "Rand 2016 - 'nuff said" as well as those who say, "Rand doesn't deserve to wear the name Paul."

Not looking forward to that...
