Should fishy run for office?

You all know my politics better than anyone in my neighborhood. What if I changed my mind, decided to give politics one more chance...

I want you to be honest, because I would be honest with the voters. I don't think abortion or marital status are any of the governments business, so I am not "Pro Life" or "pro gay marriage" but I am not "Pro Choice or "anti gay marriage" either. I guess you could say I am anti-marriage, no one should marry the government. And I am old enough to remember when women did not even announce pregnancies until the third month. I like that "keep it in the family" attitude, think it should be extended to the 18th birthday.
I'm not going to pretend I buy the 9-11 official story. Indeed, I'd be demanding to know who ordered the clean up on 9-12 and seek their arrest.

I'm not going to watch ANY tragedy unfold without asking, out loud, who is behind this? And I will ALWAYS look for government involvement in "high profile" events.

I won't play nice with the GOP. The Bushes are traitors, not heroes. Murderous in the extreme, linked to pedophile and human trafficking rings. I'm not going to sing their praises, not even a little.
In general, my platform would be "Vote for me because I don't want the job." I would promote self governance, with the Constitution as the framework for interactions among groups.

My slogan would be "ONLY TRUTH LIBERATES."

So, there you go. What do you think? Would you vote for me? Would you even want me to win, or would you donate to my opposition? Or if you were my neighbor, would you run against me?

You don't have to answer me, but you need to ask yourself. Because this is where we are - divided on issues to the point where we eat our own.

sure , just tell us

which government agency you are employed by to come here and post lunatic rantings that make all the Ron Paul supporters look crazy, then we'll dutifully consider it~

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."-- Albert Einstein

I would not vote for you

That SOLELY based on a past thread that was quickly closed - the conclusions hastily drawn by you, and actions you suggested to the woman who posted that thread. I was shocked by what I read (written by you) and told you so on that thread right before it was closed.

I think you are fooling yourself, at best.

Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right.

Sure fishy Do what your heart desires! With no regrets!

Many here would support you. We know you are for freedom and that's huge and says it all. Sounds like you ran for office already once. I know Gigi Bowman is in charge of liberty candidates : http://libertycandidates.com/the-liberty-candidates-team/

Hook up with her!!! I'm behind you as I'm sure many are here as well. Good fortunes! And I wish you the best on this!!!

No, don't waste your time or our time.

Fishy I think you are much more suited for sitting home watching Youtube videos and playing internet detective than running for public office. If you were running for Congress I would not vote for you specifically out of concern for your irrational, paranoid fear of science-based medicine. That is to assume that you would have a chance at winning, which you do not, as running openly hostile to the GOP and Dems gives you essentially a 0% of winning. Perhaps you think that you can 'wake people up,' but if you knocked on my door with a platform about exposing 9/11 I would just roll my eyes and go back in the house.

And wouldn't you be AFRAID? You are the single most paranoid personality on this web site. Now you are musing about running for public office? Give me a break. Personally I don't feel like reading your claims about your opponents trying to kill you, sabotage your campaign, or whatever other delusional narratives you concoct.

You asked for feedback, and this is as honest as anyone will ever be with you.

One thing, if I may

"You are the single most paranoid personality on this web site."

Pretty sure sharkhearted took that title, ran away with it, then buried it under a mountain of concrete, so that no one may wrest it from him.

A signature used to be here!

With a slogan like that ..

I would definitely vote for you.

Actually, knowing you from the DP would be the main reason I would vote for you lol. If you were some random - I would be doubly sure
to check you out hard to see what you were really about.

I echo what somebody said below:

If you are seriously considering doing this, be prepared for evil among the crowd that are involved in the whole process.

They swarm like roaches.

State Attorney General?

Brush up on your Carl Miller links.

Free includes debt-free!

Don't ever let emotion get in the way of using your sharp intellect. Be sly. Be friendly. Be positive in your message. Be prepared for evil if you're considering a run for a higher office. Go the way of Rand Paul, if you want to win.

well depends what you are running for...

depends what kind of voters are in your community.depends how much money you have. depends how much money you can raise to get your message out within your community. Depends if you can keep a steady cash flow.

1st i would survey what kind of voters are based in your community.(Republican , Democrat or Libertarian and so on)

once you established this info you will need to figure out what those voters want.

Remember when you run for office you are a civil servant(serve the constituents).

personally i doubt you would win if mentioned truther 9/11 since the status quo cannot comprehend with that theory.

i say try and see what happens.

I think you'll do well

if you say the "right things" and try to infiltrate i.e. Rand's method.

If your slogan reigns true (Only Truth Liberates), it will make the real criminals distance themselves from you and you will not be voted in.

Yes, imo, I believe Diebold also plays a roll in small town government. TPTB don't want any real "brush fires," because they spread easily and quickly.

Any way to get a paper-only ballot?

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Sure but first what office

Sure but first what office are you considering? Also, I understand wanting to push for truth but I'd rather have you win so don't be fringe please.

Nope - Dont do it

Liberty = Responsibility

Well there is some merit to

Well there is some merit to running interference in the current corrupt system as long as it is the system that has the most influence on us but you know as well as I do that trying to become prominent in the mafia will not rid us of the mafia... ;)

It's a sort of catch 22 we know running for office and politics will not solve our problems yet if we do not get involved they just clamp down more police state tactics on us however getting involved validates the corrupt system...

A word about fishy since I know her outside of DP she is no stranger to politics she was a state committee woman and is a great speaker too so she speaks from experience when it comes to politics just FYI for those who do not know.

End The Fat

Get Prepared!

For sure Fishy

You would have my vote, although we are far apart.

I had considered running for a low form of office but politics are so corrupt I don't think I could handle it.

I may never vote again.

But if your skin is thick enough, go for it.

I started with PTA, then School Site Council, and then was considering city council but especially in my area people are really liberal. I do have a streak of liberal running thru me living here, but realized I'm more of a classical liberal rather than progressive.

We need people like you in the SF bay area in CA. There's no way I could hack it. My grandfather was on city council out here and had a park named after him, and was an olympic trampoline coach, and I also think he was a firefighter. He died 25 years ago. He was cool as heck but died early. I still have a giant Oly beer bottle he gave me to put silver in, although I wasted it all on ice cream.. :(

But times have changed so much. The republicans here are not even republicans. In fact my Democrat grandfather was much more conservative than the republicans out here.

Seeing all the RNC BS really woke me up. Heck, even with PTA and SSC it's a popularity contest and I don't do it any more. It's the same jocks and cheerleaders I never got along with.

It's good to ask questions which you do. I don't think you'll get along well, but it may be worth it. I would love to have someone even on city council like you.

edit: I know you live nowhere near me

Aren't you Canadian?

Aren't you Canadian?

Go for it!

Better to be a small fish in a big pond.

Absolutely! The power of one fish on a local level is huge!

I wish you were running in my district!

You have my support

100%. Let me know what you need.

I would want for you to win.

I would much more want for you to maintain your integrity.

Winning would be very difficult for you---my guess.

Keeping your integrity if you won would be much harder.

"Authority" makes everyone who believes in it into a thug *and* a coward. ---Larken Rose

You would get some

You would get some enthusiastic support here, but not from Ron Paul ironically. All he would have to do is read your posts, particularly your signature (which slyly suggests he believes 9/11 was an inside job, speaking of untruths). There's my honesty on the matter.

10-15 million more voters need to believe in non-interventionism (liberty) at home and abroad to change America. Minds changed on Syria. Minds changing on privacy. "Printing money" is part of the dialogue. Win minds through focus, strategy.

Only Truth Liberates. In that case...

You'll have my vote

I don't agree with you on every issue, for sure. If that were true, you'd be me, certainly easier, but much less fun. ;)

If you do take an office, the voices you will hear loudest will be the unhappiest (and the richest). :)

I only know you from your posts here, but you have an integrity of thought, and have never been anything but open and reasonable, IMO.

And, BTW, if you do run, take the salary. You deserve to get paid for your time (donate it to charity, if that's how you feel). The arguments about "robbery" and such are for another day. We have what we have. We will get robbed for that salary, whether you take it or not.

If you get in, you can affect change for us all. You (personally and alone) have my permission to "rob" me for your salary. (hollow words, since I am one man, and probably don't live in your state). ;)

Just open the box and see

Are you hot?

As Ron Paul says

The only concern with running for office is... You might get elected!
I think Congress could use some fishy culture. What would you have to lose?

Do As You Wish

Just remember banks are for fishing:

"When I was a small boy in Kansas, a friend of mine and I went fishing and as we sat there in the warmth of the summer afternoon on a river bank, we talked about what we wanted to do when we grew up. I told him that I wanted to be a real major league baseball player, a genuine professional like Honus Wagner. My friend said that he'd like to be president of the United States. Neither of us got our wish."

-- Dwight D. Eisenhower, quoted in Baseball's Greatest Quotations (1992) by Paul Dickson; cited in "Game Day in the Majors" at the Library of Congress

All the colors of "should"

Answering any question of "should" implies a moral standard giving direction to your choices. I don't know what your overall moral system is, but I do know that the ethical system you prefer (i.e. the subset of morality concerned with the right and wrong ways people should deal with one another) comes from the Non-Aggression Principle. So some of the questions rattling around in your head are most likely some of these:

1. Can you afford to "take the job" without accepting the salary that goes with it?

2. If not, are you willing to accept the salary, knowing it was extorted from unwilling folks like yourself?

3. Is the fact that the same "taxes" will be extorted whether or not any of it goes to YOU, relevant?

4. Are you willing to take an oath to uphold the Constitution -- including the powers "granted" to Congress which no "normal" person possesses (i.e. tax, regulate, declare war, yadda yadda . . .)?

5. If you would prefer not to make that pledge, do you have a problem with lying under oath?

6. If you feel that no "good" person should have to put up with all that crap . . . is it inevitable that only "bad" people will be willing to run for public office?

7. If you believe that "public offices" should be abolished, rather than staffed by ANYONE -- is there a way to achieve that goal without getting inside the evil machine and taking over the controls?

"If you believe that "public offices" should be abolished, rather than staffed by ANYONE -- is there a way to achieve that goal without getting inside the evil machine and taking over the controls?"

Is there another route you've got in mind?

The tortoise and the hare

I strongly supported Ron Paul's campaign with time, money and effort -- mostly for its high educational value, rather than its slight chance of winning a rigged political game. Politics is a fast way to get results on a large scale, but it's not the soundest, because hearts and minds do not get changed by thirty-second sound bites.

But playing the political game is not necessarily the best way to convince people that the game itself is NOT a necessary evil, but an unnecessary one. As a practical matter, developing private alternatives to government "services" has the twofold advantage of getting things done economically and demonstrating, as a practical matter, that government doesn't work as well as freedom does -- thereby deprogramming those who have been indoctrinated into the cult of state-worship.

Promoting the ideas that justify liberty and de-legitimize government control is also necessary, to form an intellectual basis for doing away with government. Which explains my regular signature line. Read my review of the book on Amazon, for more detail.

Changing hearts and minds takes longer than winning an election or two, but slow and steady . . .

if you tell them that

if you tell them that Communist China is purchasing large swathes of land in Idaho, you would have ears open to your message.

uh....so besides wonderful feelings

overworking yourself, having no time for husband and family, doing thankless jobs and politicizing your core activism, how exactly does this benefit you?

Politics and off grid pulls us in two separate directions hon. And you just got everything going right.
