Multi-national corporations upset with Rand Paul, lobbyists cannot budge him

Multi-national corporations upset with Rand Paul, lobbyists cannot budge him

Senator Rand Paul is coming under pressure from some multi-national businesses to drop his opposition to tax treaties between the United States and other nations.

Citing privacy concerns about Americans' tax data, Paul, a Republican and libertarian, has single-handedly blocked Senate action on treaties with Hungary, Switzerland and Luxembourg that have been signed by authorities on both sides, but have been awaiting Senate review since 2011.

"Rand Paul is not a typical senator who may bend over to business lobbyists," said Chris Edwards, director of tax policy at The Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank.

No new tax treaties or treaty updates have been approved since 2010, when Paul was elected as the junior senator from Kentucky on a wave of support for Tea Party-aligned Republicans.

Rand Paul says a preemptive strike on Iran should be on the

table. Let's Get Illegals in the System So We Can Tax Them
Here we go again. Rand Paul says a preemptive strike on Iran should be on the table. Amazing. Just how does Rand see Iran in any way as a threat to the United States, or for that matter the 51st state? If Iran launched a nuclear weapon in the future (The country doesn't now have any nuclear weapons), Iran would be instantaneously pulverized by Israel, which has a arsenal of between 100 and 200 nuclear weapons.
Also note Rand's reasoning for allowing illegals to become part of the above-ground economy, so that they can be taxed!! This, in no way, is a man thinking about shrinking government. Instead of advocating a program that would tax even more people, a person concerned about ever growing government expansion would only be calling for reductions in the taxes for those already paying taxes--not advocating that more be brought into the tax system: http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2013/02/rand-paul-preem...

That, ladies and gentlemen, is what i like to call an, unintentional compliment

And if the Liberty movement wants to win

... we'll have to convert a lot MORE Neocons to our ideas.

But go ahead and flame Rand for being a Neocon in a Libertarian suit. It'll help him as he talks to them, getting them to put more energy into the issues where we agree and convincing them to agree on more issues. B-)

I've though for sime time that Rand and Ron are playing "good cop / bad cop" on the Neocons. Nothing I've seen yet convinces me otherwise.

Raimondo was broke, so he was hired by the multi-nationals to attack Rand and get the treaties signed.

I bet Senator Rand Paul feels no pressure whatsoever personally.

I remember Dr Ron Paul in a video talking about abolishing all trade treaties and going back to Bilateral trade agreements. Does anyone know where to find that video?

Against the Islamic Republic. Iranian journalist Kourosh Ziabari interviewed Flynt about anti-Iran sanctions last week; We have come to see U.S. sanctions policy toward Iran as embodying American foreign policy at its “imperial worst.” The interview contains some of our strongest criticisms so far of that policy—and of the hypocrisy at the heart of purported U.S. concern over human rights conditions in the Islamic Republic. "At least six other tax treaties or treaty updates -- with Chile, Spain, Poland, Japan, Norway and Britain -- may soon be added to the Senate's queue for confirmation votes.

Major U.S. businesses such as IBM Corp and Fluor Corp are lobbying for Senate action on tax treaties, according to Senate lobbying disclosure documents.

I really

dont understand the point of this title. On the one hand Rand is advocating for privacy. Wouldn't multinationals be for this?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm just well-informed

No the multinationals are represented here

an Obama German joint initiative to increase tax revenues, informational control, and a type of regulatory capture for the EU and some US banking houses while dissuading investment in the US so that the center of power further transfers over away from the US.

By both simultaneously increasing tax revenues for both sides (US , EU) by exchanging information (even if its one sided) and creating disincentive for FFI (with expanded definition) to re-invest in the US the "internationalists" are encouraging domestic investment in a flagging Europe instead. Any short term gains in information flow to US institutions will be undone(or benefit longer term) as financial influence will shift to the EU in the long run (when it crashes, it crashes the US, and then uses our pieces to build itself up back whole).

This is why that Organization (which really represents JPmorgan , Halliburton, Occidential Petrol) listed in the chicago tribune article is trying to pressure Rand. Rand is allying himself with the Amero centric neocon side of the anglo order (as opposed to the eurocentric side). Still, this is a net benefit for us that hes blocking the treaties at the senate level.

helps protect free market ideals

corporations are not private. they are public institutions; everyone already knows how much money & where its located. money earned overseas isn't subject to US taxes. private business & individuals staying under big biz & biz tax radar by legally keep their foreign earned money overseas. gov & corporations will crush free marketeers if these earnings are reported. gov wants to taxing foreign earned money. competitors want easy access to detailed activities. allowing them to copy and steal your business.
