Rumors of the Daily Paul's demise have been greatly exaggerated

That's all I have to say for right now.

I never wanted the Daily Paul to become a cult of personality around Ron Paul. That is why, when the campaign ended, I took down his picture and changed the name of the site. This is not a Ron Paul site, it is a site about principles: The principles of Peace (foreign policy) Gold (Au - sound money), and Love (L).

Ron Paul's presidential campaigns were educational. He was never running to win. Isn't that clear in retrospect?

Oh sure, he was running to win - on his terms. If the populace was moral, educated and informed, he would have walked away in a landslide. But alas, that is not the world we live in.

But what did we learn along the way? Principles are what matter, not personalities. I don't want this site to be a cult of personality around me any more than I wanted it to be a cult of personality around him.

I made some comments in some threads, that got blown out of proportion.

At the moment, I'm frustrated. I live in Boston. I love this town. But the bombings and the martial law came at the end of a terrible week, at the end of a terrible couple of months, at the end of kind of a terrible year for me.

What can I say? I'm human. I hit a limit. I need a vacation.

This week I turn 45. As a birthday gift, my wife booked us on a cruise across the Atlantic, to England. The trip takes a week, and we're going to spend a week there. She's going to show me Oxford, where she went to school and experienced a transformation of her own. I have never been. I have only seen it in my imagination, though the words she has described to me.

In the mean time, the site will be in good hands, with the moderators, and you. And when I get back, refreshed, we'll decide how to manage the DP going forward.

Thank you all. One thing that I do know is that the people of the Daily Paul have huge hearts. I am blessed to have been touched by your generosity and love.

And again, rumors of the Daily Paul's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Enjoy the Cruise

Enjoy your relaxing vacation. Everyone needs to unplug for awhile and recharge the batteries.

Happy Birthday and bon voyage Michael!!

I think a cruise across the ocean is always supposed to be very therapeutic and sometimes it really helps to "get away from it all" for awhile. See you soon, hopefully refreshed and rejuvenated!

Glad to hear it and the

Glad to hear it and the vacation sounds wonderful but..didn't you recently go visit China? I am getting confused....
I do hope that you are looking for things to be grateful for, every day. Living in Boston right now there may be MANY things that take you away from doing that, and try to drag you down. AND down more.
Yet, you are surrounded with many bounties life has to offer. Please look for and at them. Your feet did not go through the floor when u got out of bed and you went to take a breath and there it was, etc., etc. Geography is not the answer..'course diversions are indeed nice.

We, and I am sure there are a many mice in my pocket, or I

in theirs, love you Michael.

I am so glad you have the opportunity to get away for your 45th Birthday. I hope you have a fabulous cruise and a good time in England in your wife's stomping grounds.

You know, I think you keep the Daily Paul from being a cult of personality because you allow us all to be ourselves and express our own personalities. You do that in a wonderful way. Not everyone (me included) is able to do that. It is a nice gift that you have and that you share with us.

"At the moment, I'm frustrated. I live in Boston. I love this town. But the bombings and the martial law came at the end of a terrible week, at the end of a terrible couple of months, at the end of kind of a terrible year for me."

Thank you for being human and for allowing us to be the same. Here's hoping your 45th year will be a good one for you and for Liberty!

If you want to get rid of the DailyPaul...

...let others buy it from you - but only sell to those you're confident will keep this site running as it currently is.

I know this URL belongs to you and all that. However, it would be a real shame if you just took this website down. This site is too important to close down. It needs to exist (and in its current form). If you don't want to run it then sell it to someone who will.

take a snack

England probably has the worst food of any country I've visited.

Everything they serve seems to have the flavor of the really smelly tallow we made candles from in school. We did get good food in 5* hotels, but nowhere else.

I once ordered the "standard fry" at a hotel breakfast. Big mistake. The plate came piled high with every fried meat one could think of, then a fried egg piled on top of all that. It was so awful I pushed it away. Then I found a side order that had a fresh looking tomato. Sadly, this lovely vegetable was also fried in the very same grease as the rest. It went uneaten. I'd actually never encountered a fried whole tomato before.

Take trail mix bars or something in your luggage :-)

Appreciate your work Michael

The Daily Paul is my main source for news. I rarely post, I don't really feel the need to, someone has usually represented or communicated what I am thinking already. However, I do believe that I am like countless others, who truly depend on and appreciate this website. I like the way the site is managed, I like the decisions that are made, and I'm glad I have somewhere to call my internet home. So though I may post on average once a year, the daily paul means alot to me-and I believe, to many others like me. Enjoy your vacation and thanks again!

So good to hear!..

... Happy birthday Michael! So glad to hear.

We have just begun my friend. :)

The principles of Liberty is burning like wild fire, and we are the ones keeping it lit. :D

Keep your eye on the prize! - Ending legal tender laws in order for the Federal Reserve System to self-destruct is of the upmost importance.

Happy Birthday!

Pfff the DP isn't going anywhere! Trolls want it to very badly but we're well aware of their desire. Luckily our desires for Liberty trump theirs.

Have a wonderful trip. We'll look after this place until your return ;)

Thank God

i figured they were only rumors blown out of proportion

Things did get carried away with some people clawing at ever little internet rumor of the bombing. Instead of an actual discussion of questioning details it turned into something ridiculous that have made even 4chan cringe.

I hope you have a great trip Michael, and an early happy birthday to you.

Homeland security statement: patriotism is now considered terrorism.
I love www.isidewith.com shared it with everyone I know. If anything they realize its not just a red and blue idiot running for reelection.

happy birthday

but who exactly started the rumor about closing this site
and or trying to see if theres a way to keep it going
if you felt like leaving in wander lust?
if you didn't mean it,then it shouldn't have printed it.
it appears i might have mis read, but then again so did others

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

Glad to hear it!

Happy birthday!!

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

This is good to hear. I

This is good to hear. I thought you were really gonna pull the plug this time. Happy birthday and bon voyage!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy Britannia!

Michael you deserve Nobel Peace Prize...

maybe you should put ron

maybe you should put ron paul's picture back up. a cult of personality sounds really awesome.

i shouldn't joke about it

i shouldn't joke about it

Courage and love

are strongly needed anecdotes to the fear the bombings generated. Thank you for such a reminder.

Enjoy yourself fully on your vacation. As you do so, please also be comforted that you are leading a community of people who are acquiring the skills to cope; in the end, however Orwellian that proves to be, our survival will depend on our sharing our critical thinking in the rational manner the DP allows us to do while retaining a sense of humanity so that we are less victimized by tragic events. This is what the DP contributes in the big picture the importance of which cannot be underestimated. Very good news that will continue!!

You Can't Get Rid of the Passion

Michael, the Daily Paul is an official iconic American treasure; a living monument to the freedom of expression. Maybe you think you no longer want this responsibility but you have to push on. You can’t stop because the Daily Paul is one of the few popular forums for good people to come together. In time it will become part of our history, depicting how the people resurrected themselves from destruction. Get use to it Michael; you are for all intent and purpose a digital founding father.

You may have been divinely inspired or simply wanted to awaken your fellow citizens that our country is in trouble, that our natural rights are in jeopardy, that America has serious problems that will only get worse if corrective action isn't taken.

We who post here do so because we share with you our love for liberty. We all know to a man and woman there are many, many things wrong with the federal government. We exhort our neighbors to change; we rally around victims of the abuses of the State; we commiserate with one another when personal tragedy strikes one of us and we show immutable distrust for anything the government tells us through their channels of controlled media. We give council to each other when asked for advice. We make comedy to lighten our day.

Some of us bring our children and grandchildren here to read, think and become educated about the importance of free markets, personal liberties and independence. We argue with one another for sure, sometimes with over the top emotional diatribe that necessitates behavioral admonishment.

The Daily Paul is our home, our place of refuge from the growing weight of enslavement put upon us by government. It is the light of freedom that pierces the dark heart of tyranny. We need this place to talk, to listen, to grow, to sustain our indomitable will to be a free people, an American people.

I implore you to not abandon us; we need you.

Enjoy yourself Mikey! You

Enjoy yourself Mikey!
You deserve a vacation, and the finest scotch if you can get to the peat covered Highlands when across the pond.

Godspeed and good rest and never let any message board get you down :)

Non-PC offensive joke warning: Stop reading now if you are offended easily!

Q: What does arguing on the internet and running in the Special Olympics have in common?

A: Even if you win, you are still retarded.

i feel your pain

i had that overload feeling myself this week

i'm not real religious,,,, but this week it hit me,,, wickedness and evil is everywhere you look

congress, media,,, wall st, cops,,, more big gov't,,, most j6packs are clueless and begging for more,,,, and constant arguing and left-right battles

it seems unwinnable or even unchangeable

it seems the campaign gave us all a common enemy,,,, or at least a task to share in
but now we're rutterless and trudging many different paths that are bring division more than commonality

a vacation or 30 day electronic anything blackout may be just what i need

an atlantic vacation sounds awesome

I thought Dr. Paul was running against Keynes

But I still held out tons of hope he would become president! :)

Bump for joy!

Google is government.

thanks for the clarification, Michael

I haven't been very active on here recently, as all this conspiracy nonsense bores me, but I am glad the site will go on. I have learned to accept these waves of paranoia and I just wait till the tide recedes back into rational discussion.

Well, have a great birthday and have a great trip! Don't think about the site too much while you are away. Peace.

a cruise across the Atlantic and . . .

time in Oxford sounds ideal.

Happy birthday, YOUNG man!!! LOL!

Thank you for this site. Thank you for not making it about Ron Paul. I like him; I miss seeing his face on youtubes (still on some, but not as much), but I appreciate not having a cult of personality; that is a dangerous thing--

for everyone involved.

Are you going to boat down the Thames? Take along a copy of Three Men in a Boat: To Say Nothing of the Dog--

You don't have to, of course, but that place is so iconic.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Now, where's Jefferson? He

Now, where's Jefferson? He should apologize for fanning the flames on his own false rumor.

if you'd maybe read this comment,

you might have a different take on things, although it sometimes takes a while for things to sink in for you. (kind of like how you continue to call Mich-ael "Mike" even though he's emphasized how he likes his name spelled) Since I share the same name, I don't care much for people calling me "Mike" either as you would probably not like people calling you "Vulva."

late there processed cheesemeister. I already submitted my apologies to MN last night privately, and I humbly offer my apologies to the kind folks at the DP as well.
