My Area, This Nation, Is Becoming A Dump, All While Going Broke GRRRR!Submitted by ProudAmericanFirst on Mon, 04/29/2013 - 10:26
I am sick and tired of this. So I am spearheading an initiative to have roads be constructed of concrete, rather than asphalt.
Detours abound, to lay or resurface using asphalt, only to have the roads broken up again in less than a year or two due to pot holes, frost heaves, etc. It is constant and expensive work, and I can NOT afford to keep replacing front end parts on my car, much less pay burdensome taxes to do the same thing over and over again hoping for different results. Concrete lasts decades and can be up to 60% cheaper in the long run YMMV. It also requires NO petroleum products, so reliance on potential foreign crude will be less. And, concrete can be 100% recycled, rather than end up in landfills.
I am OPPOSED to green initiatives set forth by Agenda 21 and the like. I am FOR, however, initiatives that are sound economically and will enhance the beauty of my environment, along with providing safer road conditions. Workers can then utilize their time working on other MEANINGFUL projects that will invite business/tourism to the area.
I am Liberty, but I am also Conservative. If we are to involve ourselves politically, let us make meaningful differences that affect our communities, personal lives and our pockets. And especially MY CAR.
Here is an example outline:
