I don't care what another person does in their bedroom... Should I start going around and shouting from the rooftops how straight I am?
Seriously, who cares?

Meanwhile... Israel is doing drills on the Syrian and Lebanese borders. I find this to be a big provocation, yet not a single peep about it: http://www.dailypaul.com/283974/surprise-israeli-military-dr...

While Jason Collins is national news right now, Israel is rattling sabers. Which is more important to you?

I'd like to point out that,

I'd like to point out that if you are supportive of this guy's public proclamation that he is homosexual, such support does not automatically apply also to the MSM's reaction to it.

Who Cares?

Seriously. Who cares? The hoopla over this is indicative of how absolutely brain dead our country has become. WHO CARES?!

Who cares? Well, a bunch of

Who cares? Well, a bunch of people clearly, including yourself.

What's the big deal? That is

What's the big deal? That is news?

To be libertarian

is to be to the left of the democrats on social issues, and to the right of republicans on fiscal.

I see very little difference between most "libertarians" and republicans on social issues.

Least we forget

there have been plenty of high profile homosexual republicans.. Cheney's daughter..

I agree with your statement that libertarians and left to democrats of social issues and right of republicans on fiscal and constitution issues, it just seems to me, that when it come to the homosexual issue.. what we really have is a religious issue, democrat, republicans and libertarians belong to many different religions and even the same.. those who believe marriage is a sacrament will not stand for any other marriage (ceremony) in their Church.

There may be a vocal minority MSM likes to give the soap box, but Americans in general really don't care what other's do.. and that would include my church.. you have a church that will "marry" homosexuals (Unitarian I believe is one) GREAT! But it's not going to happen in MY Church, and that should be OK.

It is absolutely OK

Why I love our constitution: separation of church and state. The government has no say in the matter with regards to your church or who they are willing to marry or not and it should (will) stay that way.

Government can offer civil unions with the full legal rights granted to church-sanctioned married couples. For the government it is just a contract. If you are religious, marriage means more than that. Yep, go find a church that will do it if you need greater meaning.

Homosexuality a religious matter? Only if you are religious.

and most intelligent people are able to discern between a civil marriage and a religious one. As a libertarian, you should be fighting for rights extended to one class of citizens to be extended to all classes.

sexuality is a class.

IF we are going to have the government recognize marriage, THEN we must extend that right to any two consenting adults.

Yes we can argue that government should not recognize marriage, but IF they do, THEN we must.

Civil Union - contract between two people, granted by government and the law. Recognized by the state but not by a religious entity. The government over-steps when they call this "marriage".

Marriage - relationship between two people, granted by a church, defined by the rules of that church and recognized by its members and the God the church believes in. In addition, government and the law impose a legal definition and recognize the marriage (you have no choice in the matter).

"Sexuality is a class" - no. We are all citizens.

"One resists the invasion of armies; one does not resist the invasion of ideas" Victor Hugo

sexuality is currently a class because the right has divided people by it. we all become citizens again when they are allowed to marry.

Civil Unions for anyone. Marriage is the domain of a church and they do not have to grant it.

Until government stops interferring in marriage religious institutions will continue to feel threatened and will continue to lobby against civil unions and push laws like DOMA.

For a religious person, who is also homosexual and feels shunned by their church, their conflict is with the church. They can't ask goverment to step in and rule if it is fair or not.

Don't you mean

there should be no special rights for anyone?

My liberal friends will point

My liberal friends will point to threads like these as to why "Ron Paul conservatives/libertarians" cannot be taken seriously. There isn't much of a counter-argument.

The vocal minority argument

The vocal minority argument is quickly being exposed as a myth. It is enough to push most people away. Being a member of this site may soon be as harmful to your reputation as being a member of stormfront if things do not change.

Even cancer is an unmoderated, uninhibited, organic growth. Doesn't make it good. This cancer will kill the liberty movement unless the leaders check and correct its path.

It isn't like we don't do it

It isn't like we don't do it here. The "communists" that supposedly plague the "left" are really a miniscule minority of liberal/progressives.

The thing is, it is very difficult, when it comes to human nature, for individuals to not like something and yet still tolerate it (as in, tolerate it by not using government to force it out). We've seen Ron Paul struggle on this issue when it comes to abortion and gay marriage.

People need to believe (as I think this is the correct belief) that gays deserve to be treated equally because gays are no different from straight people. Right now, aside from the loonies who don't want libertarianism applied to gay marriage, I think there are a lot of Ron Paulers who say "I hate gays/think they are immoral, but I guess I shouldnt' use government to put'em down".

Not only does that lead to people who overtime change as their principles are eroded, but it leads to discrimination in the private sector, which isn't exactly a desireable outcome. Of course, that is because I personally want to see a society where the private sector voluntarily does not discrminate in such a fashion.

And you can see where the

And you can see where the problem comes from. Gay people feel victimised by the majority and are fearful so they go to the govt. to 'officially' protect them from hate crime and mobilize the left for this purpose.

Until fewer people hate them and believe they are going to hell, it will be very difficult to stop them appealing to state power for protection and special rights.

Good to see so many

Now tell me honestly, don't

Now tell me honestly, don't you think the MSM was spot on in its characterization of Ron Paul's supporters?

Good thing is another two intellectually challenged members have been banned so here is hoping MN takes a look at this thread too.

It sickens me

I'm a social liberal and a fiscal conservative who beleives in free markets. I was not welcome at dailykos for my economic views, and i'm clearly not welcome here for my liberal social views (WHICH ARE LIBERTARIAN).

But don't let me stop all the bigots from preaching.

If you people want the liberty movement to go anywhere, listen up.

libery and justice for all means just that, especially those who you do NOT agree with. You will never get the much needed youth to join enmasse with these archaic views of sexuality.

If it is wrong for the government to tell you how to spend your money, whether or not do do drugs, etc, then it is clearly wrong for the government to tell you who you can love and marry. By using religious fiction to back up your prejudiced beleifs, you are no better than the social conservatives and the neocons. You might as well just put an R next to your name and leave this sight all together.

I hear ya

It's a bit frustrating but I know it's just a loud minority of former neo cons that can not break that last shackle.
