Real reason Glenn Beck departed Fox

A Fox News spokesperson explained Monday that conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck left the network not because he was safeguarding his spirituality, but because “he was trying to save his ass” after a massively effective advertiser boycott.

The comment comes by way of Politico’s Mike Allen, who emailed Fox News for a reaction to Beck’s remarks on Friday, when he told a group of students that he left Fox News to save his immortal soul.

“Glenn Beck wasn’t trying to save his soul, he was trying to save his ass,” a Fox News spokesperson told Allen in an email. “Advertisers fled his show and even Glenn knows what that means in our industry. Yet, we still tried to give him a soft landing. Guess no good deed goes unpunished.”

The conspiracy host’s departure was announced in April 2011. He’s since launched a video-based website called “The Blaze TV” and a companion blog. Beck was reportedly in talks with Current TV to buy the network out for $500 million and put “The Blaze TV” on cable, but network owner Al Gore, the former vice president of the United States, turned him down and sold to Qatar-based Al Jazeera for less.

period, his show actually ran without any ads at all in the U.K. for a time.

i find this interesting,,, it seemed weird that a guy supposedly on top of the world would leave the best medium to spread his message. i remember an interview wayback on HLN where he speared dr paul and tried to trip him up, haven't like him since then.
also,,, i notice his radio program has limited advertisers such as goldline and freedomworks over and over,,,, maybe he still has this problem going,,,,, and his new liberty, constitution stance is all an effort to get new marketshare and advertisers. I believe he's eyeing AJ's audience and advertisers. I'm sure he's intimately informed of viewership, ages, and demographics and is plotting to survive and thrive. While he's financially set,,,, he's certainly not in business to lose money or doing out the goodness of his heart and the country.

bottomline to me GBeck is still a snake

found it interesting Gore choose al jazeera over beck,,, many see al jazeera as having terrorist ties,,, and gore found them preferable to beck

i see al jazeera as truthful in many areas,,, and even reporting american events our own media misses,, which shocks me at times

they have an agenda but can get it right many times as well

will beck respond to this story ,,, or let it go as he's still on fox radio,,,, but i bet his ego will have trouble staying mum,,, time will tell,,,, he'll probably spin it somehow
