Educating Voters - Reading Lists
Submitted by kpage3 on Sat, 06/09/2007 - 10:44One of the best ways to help Dr. Ron Paul's campaign (which is also an educational endeavor) is to learn about his ideas and to be able to educate others. Just as Dr. Paul gave Giuliani a reading list, I think it would be great for us to provide reading lists as well. I would like to begin with a short reading list myself.
Dr. Paul is a brilliant adherent of the Austrian School of Economic Thought, which is devoted to a sound monetary policy and free market entrepreneurship. In fact he first entered politics in the early 1970s in an effort to educate the public on sound monetary policy and the gold standard. As a fellow Austrian school of economics advocate, I would like to provide a short reading list of books that provides a significant foundation for Dr. Paul's views on economics:
- Human Action by Ludwig von Mises
- Theory of Money and Credit by Ludwig von Mises
- Socialism by Ludwig von Mises (he actually cited this book in NH the other day)
- Planned Chaos by Ludwig von Mises
- What Has Government Done to Our Money? by Murray Rothbard
- Man, Economy & State by Murray Rothbard
- The Case Against the Fed by Murray Rothbard
- Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt
Dr. Paul wrote an essay, "The Political and Economic Agenda for a Real Gold Standard" in The Gold Standard: Perspectives in the Austrian School (ed. by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.)
Check out the Ludwig von Mises Institute for a host of resources, books, audios, etc. on the Austrian School of Economic Thought.
Addition:
Thanks "Jackstraw" for reminding me of Ron Paul's A Foreign Policy of Freedom (we can't forget that a noninterventionist foreign policy is fundamental to a sound monetary policy and a strong economy).
Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

Add Ron Paul's A Foreign policy toward freedom
I know it's a no brainer but to be familar with his speeches etc is a good thing.
