UPDATE: Ron Paul, Rand Paul and Tom Davis Endorse Mark Sanford!

_____

Update: PPP Poll: Sanford has momentum, now leads by one in SC-1
_____

As a Carolinian, I'm well aware of Sanford's troubled past and didn't support him as of last week. But the endorsements of Ron and Rand, as well as the leading liberty-candidate in SC, Tom Davis, made me give him a second look.

In fact, I regret not supporting his candidacy until now with just 1 week left. This guy wants to audit the Fed, end the Patriot Act and based off his endorsements, has an understanding of Austrian economic principles.

Yeah he's gone through some ethical problems, but is there anybody here without sin? If Ron endorses him, I'm willing to forgive and allow a second chance.

Sanford's in a tight race. I say vote this post up for Sanford over liberal Colbert-Busch. Getting vocal support out there is the least we could do 1 week from the election. Below is Paul's endorsement:

Dear Friend,

If you’re anything like me, when you hear GOP establishment types coming out of the woodwork to defeat a fellow Republican, it certainly piques your interest.

Well, in South Carolina’s Congressional District 1 Special Election race on May 7, the naysayers are doing literally everything they can to defeat Republican Mark Sanford – even if it means electing a Democrat.

Of course, the reasons they all give are one thing.

But I suspect they know just as well as I do what a strong ally Mark has always been to our Liberty Movement.

Now, even the national Republican Party is pulling funding for his race!

That’s why, today, I’m endorsing Mark Sanford for Congress.

And with time running out, I hope you’ll agree to contribute to him as generously as you can.

As you may know, Mark and I served together in the U.S. House for several years, until his run for Governor of South Carolina.

During his time in the U.S. House and as Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford stood strong for limited government and lower taxes – even when that meant standing up to fellow Republicans.

In fact, when the GOP-controlled House in South Carolina couldn’t stop their addiction to spending, Governor Sanford protested by showing up in in the House with two piglets under his arms named “pork” and “barrel.”

While Republicans in Washington, D.C. were spending like there was no tomorrow, Governor Sanford issued 106 budget vetoes in 2004 alone!

That’s more than eight times the number of vetoes President Bush issued during his entire Presidency!

If elected to Congress, he’s pledged to pick up where he’s left off, including:

*** Auditing the Federal Reserve;

*** Repealing the so-called “PATRIOT” Act;

*** Ending indefinite detention of American citizens without trial;

*** Repealing ObamaCare;

*** Opposing a national ID program.

Of course, that’s far from the end of it.

His stellar record goes on and on.

I, for one, would love to see him back in Washington, D.C. fighting the fiscal madness that’s put our nation nearly $17 TRILLION in debt.

So I hope you’ll agree to generously support him today.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

P.S. During his time in the U.S. House and as Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford stood strong for limited government and lower taxes – even when that meant standing up to fellow Republicans.

Today, I’m endorsing Mark Sanford for Congress.

And with time running out before the May 7 Special Election, I hope you’ll agree to contribute to him as generously as you can.

Sanford vs. Liz Colbert Busch Debate:

Gotta say, as a former lobbyist, Stephen's sister is coming off even slicker than ANY politician, let along Sanford. She has corporatist written all over her, let alone Dem statist's penchant for tax-theft subsidies; frankly I too wish Sanford (despite his hypocritical personal peccadillo) would STOMP this statist hack!

He did a pretty good job when the moderator asked him about his affair; he countered with hypocrisy of Dems forgiving BlueDress-staining SlickWilly, yet pretending to hold high moral virtues:

And there you have it folks,

Former lobbyist: Sanford.

The common folk. With common sense Bush

Isn'taking the first step admitting you're an alcoholic.

Even then an alcoholic knows that once you're a lobbyist you're always a lobbyist.

Just like an alcoholic.

yup:

while no one has a choice in who's family they're born into, spelling differences aside, seriously how many more Busches/Bushes can this country take?

egads!

Dont blame me Adam,

Blame my typewriter, don't blame Mark Sanford either, I mean, as Nixon would say. "{the devil made me do it ".

Do what you want but remember this,

Okay in 2007, Ron Paul had lost the primary in Iowa to Mike Huckabee then in the New Hampshire primary. The voting machines in New Hampshire were rigged and the Gestapo Republican Party changed John McCain's votes to Paul's and vice versa.

Ron Paul would've easily won the New Hampshire primary in 2007 if the voting machines hadn't been rigged.

The Good Doctoer desperately needed a win in South Carolina, to actually look like a credible candidate to win the Republican nomination. Did Mark Sanford endorse Ron Paul oh no like a snibly little coward that he is, Mark Sanford decided to endorse the winner of the New Hampshire primary John McCain.

Yes that's right folks , the principaled and trustworthy Sanford was nowhere to be found when liberty really meant something, when Ron Paul actually had a chance to be President in 2007. This Judas goat is worse than a Judas goat.

He should've been flogged and tarred and feathered along with Sean Hannity instead of thrown snowballs at by the wonderful patriots in New Hampshire.
Think about this Mark Sanford's campaign could've cared less about Ro Paul in the liberty movement that is UNTIL.The establishment stopped supporting him, then he desperately went back crying to Ron Paul Ayn Rand Paul for an endorsement.

Ah.l that's so sweet, if Sanford is nominated he will only desperately disappoint you as a congressman, he will bow to the whims of the Republican neocons and easily forget Ron Paul's endorsement. A man who cheats on his wife, will certainly cheat on his country.

No idea how, but I got on a Dem mailing list a few weeks ago.

Here is today's email (that gap was closed quickly):

BREAKING: NEW POLL SHOWS SOUTH CAROLINA SPECIAL TIED 46%-46% WITH 5 DAYS TO GO

You’re not going to like these numbers:

We’re 5 days out from the South Carolina special election and Mark Sanford and Elizabeth Colbert Busch are all tied up at 46%.

We always knew we were going to have to go through high water to win this damn thing. Well, here we are. 5 days to go and Sanford’s money advantage is finally working.

If we still want to win this thing, we need to seriously step up our game and break this stalemate. Are you in?

URGENT: Will you donate $3 or whatever you can to help us break the stalemate and fight back against Republican attacks in too close to call races?

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know Peace." - Jimi Hendrix

heh, they're complaining of Sanfords "money advantage"

Yep, the Dems are pouring millions into this race, and the Republican establishment won't send Sanford a single dime. I'm betting this is all about how much money Sanford is spending, and not that this district leans HEAVILY republican.

6 days left. This is goin to

6 days left. This is goin to be a close race. One of the mos conservative districts in the country and a Nancy Pelosi clone has the slightly better chance to win.

Boo Ron! Hiss Tom!

Why endorse this a$$hole?

Mark Sanford can't even keep his oath to the mother of his children, what the hell is the US Constitution to an Oath Breaker like this? A lobster bib? A BBQ napkin?

"First rule of Government Spending: Why build one when you can have 2 at twice the price?"
-S.R. Hadden

Well, he has always been pretty good as a politician

Including going against his own party when they went over the line. There is a reason he got thrown under the bus so rapidly over the whole mistress thing, and it wasn;t because of the shocking nature of what he did. To be honest with you, I could care less about the guys personal life, as long as he votes the right way in congress.

No way he gets my vote in

No way he gets my vote in Republican primaries, but he won it. There's no libertarian candidate. There's a Green Party but I don't like them. Thn there's liberal Colbert-Busch. I would at least vote for Sanford. Far better than losing an ally in Sanford and putting an Obama yes woman in office.

Perfect reasoning: The lesser of all evils

That still doesn't work for me.

He's the man.

The only person you'll agree with

100% of the time is yourself.

If you vote for someone you don't agree with all the time, are you not voting for the lesser of all evils?

Where do you draw the line? Vote for someone you agree with 99%, 95%, 90% of the time?

Go by records, not the names.

If Sanford has been a friend of Liberty in many areas, and his records shows that, it would be a mistake not to give him a chance.

romney was NEVER a friend of Liberty. He deserved NO chance.

There is a vast difference between a lesser of evil, and somebody who may not be 100% perfect.

To those who are blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, open your closed eye and you will see.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

I get that. If it was just

I get that. If it was just Romney and Obama last November, I don't vote. But I do t see this as the lesser of two evils. Sanford's a friend of liberty in many areas, and has earned endorsements by key liberty people because of that.

I don't have a problem giving people second chances. People make mistakes.
