Buried on Page A13 of Today's Wall Street Journal

I only happened to spy it because I'm packing, and happened to be wrapping a vase in page A13. After seeing it, I wanted to come share it.

Karzai Confirms Accepting CIA Cash Monthly for 10 Years

By JUHANA ROSSI in Helsinki and YAROSLAV TROFIMOV in Kabul | Wall Street Journal

Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Monday acknowledged that his office has been receiving money from the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency over the past 10 years, dismissing the monthly cash payments as a "small amount."

Mr. Karzai addressed the issue after the New York Times reported on Sunday that the CIA has made tens of millions of dollars in secret payments, often cash packed in shopping bags, as it sought to maintain influence over Afghanistan's mercurial leader.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai, here in Brussels last week, Monday confirmed that his government has been receiving CIA money for a decade, but dismissed it as a 'small amount.'

"Yes, the office of the national security has been receiving support from the United States for the past 10 years," Mr. Karzai told reporters at a news briefing in Helsinki, Finland, responding to a question about whether he has received CIA cash. "Monthly. Not a big amount. A small amount which has been used for various purposes."

The CIA declined to comment on the matter.

"CIA has been secretly delivering bags of money to his office"

[This stinks and is corruption to the core.]

"After a report in this week, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has acknowledged that the CIA has been secretly delivering bags of money to his office since the beginning of the war more than a decade ago."

"The money is allegedly used to buy loyalty — that of Karzai and the people he doles the cash out to. and he's grateful for it."

Sweet.

You found a good use for the Wall Street Journal. It's also good for starting a fire, paper mache crafts and compost.

Usually

The New York Times is great toilet paper but I hear they had it on their front page..Can the CIA be tried for using tax payer money to bribe foreign countries without congressional approval....or...maybe they had approval?

I don't remember the exact history of this,

but didn't the CIA get in trouble for doing this in south america a bunch. Didn't they fund various drug cartels and Contra aways back. I thought this type of meddling was explicitly banned by congress and that it only continued via less official channels of funding. So, I guess buying favour of dictators and hired guns is officially back on the table.

For most, a large CA$H WITHDRAWAL from your bank account is rife with regulations, and scrutiny (by both bank AND IRS).

Been there...done that.
There's even a "protocol" that the tellers, and bank manager will follow, which is essentially an attempt to stonewall any attempt to withdraw your funds.

Let me repeat that: YOUR FUNDS!!!!

Using "government" math...

Just a few tens of millions PROBABLY means 40 million (and I'm being very generous, if you know what I mean).

So, 40 million divided by ten years (120 months) is grocery sacks full of about $330,000 dollars a month to shady characters. This surely DOES NOT count heroin/poppy, drug laundering money that the too-big-too-fail banks control!

330k a month for 10 straight years passed around in grocery bags? I wonder how much cia agents sent home every month for their retirement? 10-20k? ALL American tax money.

How much will we, the people endure?

Commenting on there is a better way to get the public more aware of how bad the government actually is.
We should at least try to wake up millions more Americans to the Corporate controlled Duopoly. (At least that's what I think.)

Use the DP to get lots of info - then spread the word any place you can.

Come on guys, it was just a couple tens of millions. Let's get back to what really matters -- Bush and Obama's outrageous vacation spending.

A couple of

tens of millions is government speak for a couple of tens of billions, or is it trillions?

Great example of the criminal

Great example of the criminal activity our US Federal Government is engaged in, in the name of the American people. Why wouldn't foreigners want us US citizens all dead?

The CIA....

A private mercenary army, paid for by the tax payer. No wonder dick cheney had to have a new heart, he probably wore the other one out with laughing!

Dick Cheney having a heart attack was a false flag.

How can you have a heart attack when you don't have a heart?

a youtube video of NBC covering this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9duu0g2DPo

so... doesn't this violate a HUGE list of US laws? like RICO, bribery, misallocation of taxpayer funds ect?

its pretty fucking obvious from our side what is going on... but will anyone be punished... i doubt it.

also this made the front page of reddit a few hours ago and is still up(as of this post)

Tools of war are not always obvious. The worst weapon is an idea planted in the mind of man. Prejudices can kill, suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has an everlasting fallout all of its own.

OK, here's the thing... Which

OK, here's the thing... Which laws have actually been broken and are actionable? Does anyone seriously believe this has been going on without the knowledge of either Congress or the president?

Who is accountable? No one. Therefore it makes no difference how many laws were broken or who broke them. Don't lecture about how wrong it is unless something can be done.

So you want to know where?

just look in the US budget under Bribery!

"...(AND) are actionable".

"...(AND) are actionable". Who goes to jail? Who signed off on the OK to bribe, right? The answer will always be "no one".

Well obviously if it's the

Well obviously if it's the CIA, whoever is heading the CIA needs to be relieved or imprisoned after a full investigation. I mean, are you insinuating that when there is no individual in particular to investigate that those who are in management and supervisory roles aren't considered "actionable targets" for reprimand?

The CIA has the ability to privately fund itself...
