A Major New Liberty TV Network Is On The Way!

Jennifer Grossman (formerly w/Cato Institute, now Senior VP at Dole Fruit) is heading up a liberty/libertarian television network along with Michael Strong (run’s John Mackey’s Conscious Capitalism org) and Ricky Ray Butler. (Plaid Media/Endorse Liberty PAC) Ricky Ray is also introducing Jennifer to the other tech geniuses/Silicon Valley creatives who were the motor behind that PAC that supported Ron Paul last year.

The branding will evolve, and I've introduced the team to my friend Justin Machecek, who is the senior on air producer (and an Emmy winner) at an established network. Justin has experience branding something that's already on the air, and this will be much easier.

I've also been busy introducing the team to other great content creators and journalists like my friend Mark Basile, (who produces a show on Spike TV right now) Tyrel Ventura, (Jesse's son) Jill Trammell, (produces a show on Discovery) Josh Tolley and Ben Swann, as well as Hollywood heavyweights like Michael O'Donnell, (worked on Spiderman and Pirates of the Caribbean) Rick Probst (Hansel and Gretel and the latest Die Hard) and the libertarians who have to go to secret meetings just to keep their jobs at places like MGM.

What sets this network apart from Reason.TV, Infowars and the Next News Network? The vision for this network, is not for a libertarian version of Fox or MSNBC, but a full spectrum network with everything from reality TV, cartoons, movies, comedy, lifestyle shows, etc, as well as the evening news, with undercurrents of liberty throughout the programming. We’ll create something the general public will watch, be entertained by, and the liberty message will spread like never before. The existing liberty networks will grow with us. We also plan on making this available beyond the internet, and on satellite and cable. It’s what the other side has been doing for decades, and it’s time we turned the tables.

We're still looking for a few amazing and well known individuals to fill out the board of directors. We want people who have executive level experience in film and television, but we also want a few more people who are just passionate about the cause of liberty who have business experience. We're also still looking for 1. other investors 2. talent in front of and behind the camera. Filling out a weeks worth of live, original and compelling content is a tall order, but something we'll be able to pull off with the caliber of people we are bringing onto our team by the time we launch this fall.

It’s definitely a project long overdue. Please let me know if you’d like to know more and are interested in being involved.

We’re also going to be having a membership drive over the summer, and are looking for fun things and cool items to auction and raffle off to help spread the word. Your donation will be much appreciated and not forgotten!

Donated items and gift vouchers can be sent to

Larry Elder supporting JAG TV?

I noticed that Larry Elder is one of those people in this video promoting JAG TV. While I certainly support the idea of a Liberty TV network, but it's a little difficult for me to get too excited about anything that "libertarian" Larry Elder supports. Larry Elder some years ago favored the "War on Drugs" and the "War on Terror", not exactly libertarian views, while promoting himself as a libertarian.

Now Mr. Elder's views may have changed, as it has been a few years since I listened to what he has to say. So some questions arise? Is Larry Elder going to be part of this network? What are Larry Elder's current views about the "Drug War" and "War on Terror"? If Larry Elder is going to be part of this network and he hasn't changed his views, then I would leave the network behind in the dust.

If on the other hand, Mr. Elder has changed his views, so that he is a true libertarian, and will be part of the network, then I welcome the effort. Since Mr. Elder is promoting this network, it remains to be seen where it stands on the "Drug War" and "War on Terror".

Maybe this is "Psy Op TV"?

.

Zak needs to ask that, often.

They will try to get control of it, I am sure he is aware.

religious / secular

One problem religious libertarians seem to have, other than being shocked to discover how many libertarians are agnostic or worse, is the unspoken assumption that morality is impossible without religious faith. Those of us who read Ayn Rand know better. Some of us knew better BEFORE we read Rand, and it was only reinforcement.

At the risk of seeming to do the Lord's work in a strange way, we doubters welcome all who will use the word properly. The modern founders of this movement were predominantly, but not unanimously agnostic.

Last year during the primaries I briefly worked for FBN (Freedom Broadcasting Network) doing audience interviews and commentary around three of Ron Paul's appearances. I was tipped off to this opportunity by a veteran activist who did a couple of California appearances with his hand-held. Ron was of course not getting any media coverage, and no one else was streaming his speeches nor providing commentary, so we were proud to help get this concept underway with our new handheld HD cams. FBN hired a video crew and uplink for each location to get the speech itself. We had done Texas A&M, flubbed it in San Antonio (but ate well), flew to Pittsburgh and got that one perfectly.

We proudly stood in the cold rain in front of Independence Hall in downtown Philadelphia and interviewed about 25 of the three thousand-plus stalwart freedom-lovers who showed up that Saturday to hear and cheer Ron Paul. After the speech, a sizable swarm of wildly cheering, exuberant young people chased Ron's departing SUV down the street and across the intersection. Even we missed this great video moment.

It was shortly thereafter that Ron suspended actively campaigning. Neither this shocking event nor any others surrounding his delegation's disenfranchisement from the GOP convention were ever reported clearly and completely, or with any depth, nor followed up on to any great extent. There was only rampant speculation and few insider tidbits revealed on DailyPaul.com. Doug Wead providing answers is better than no answers at all.

Only by spending hours on YouTube searching for comments and listening to conspiracy theories can you get any kind of picture of the turmoil and consternation this brought upon the groundswell of new young activists that was well on the way to nominating him for president. After seeing this enthusiasm for myself, live in the rain at Philly, I was convinced he was on the road to the nomination.

You thought it was only idealistic, foolish, unsophisticated kids behind Ron Paul. We've been libertarian activists since 1971 and we were at his announcement for office in 1974.

This did confirm my opinion if we want to produce good product that the mainstream can't ignore, sneer into oblivion or cover up, that we need to develop these media skills ourselves, immediately.

I will be glad to help in any way I can, especially in regard to providing secular-based commentary. Please contact me at the email below for a more detailed description of our website plan for accomplishing the same basic idea.

This is cool

I wish you luck. This will not be easy for you! It makes me wish I had television skills to help out.

I'd like to suggest one thing if you don't mind. You need to be really careful with programming. Libertarians have our own language and we speak about things in a certain way. That certain way is not at all marketable to the general public.

Writers talk of showing the reader, not telling the reader. This means, don't say "the government sucks" but show the viewer what sucks about it. The trick for you, I think, is to not speak the libertarian language while still showing the libertarian message.

Also, your newscast will be especially tricky. If you start reporting on FEMA camps, the network will sink and lose credibility with the public. If you don't, it will lose credibility with the infowarriors and they will throw all their liberal hate your way. That probably wont matter for your ratings, but it's still a landmine to navigate.

You've really got me thinking! I wish I had TV experience now because this sounds really fun! Best of luck! (I hope you have streaming because I ditched the cable bill.)

Zonation is in their line up?

You mean the guy who did these:

I do understand the need for a diverse offering, but some of these guys are definitely antithetic to liberty. I can stand Beck better than this guy.

Don't enforce purity please. That kills movements.

Lol

Did you even bother to read my comment, where I said I understood the need for a diverse line up, or did you just dismiss and downvote?

How is pointing out someone who ridiculed libertarians and Ron Paul is in a line up for a supposedly libertarian network, "enforcing purity"? Not everything with the libertarian branding is beyond scrutiny.

edit: FYI I'm on their mailing list and subscribed to their youtube. I want to see this do well and succeed but as something that is supposed to be representative of the liberty movement, it needs to be able to scrutinized and held accountable.

Would you want John McCain and Lindsey Graham have a show on this network? I'm not likening Alfonso to them, but you should get my point.

So you just want to see

So you just want to see yes-men on this channel? I like that guy because I don't always agree, but he always makes his case.

hello, anyone home?

Did you even bother to read my comment, where I said I understood the need for a diverse line up, or did you just dismiss and downvote?

Straw man an argument much? I guess I'll return the sentiment, since you feel the need to corner me and accuse me of things.

I guess you don't think its odd to have those who trashed Ron Paul, called him a kook, and possibly single handedly prevented the liberty movement from reaching a tipping point during the election, being part of a libertarian network to further said cause?

This seems like a ploy to draw people from Fox news only. When there is a great deal of independent, and yes even left oriented people looking for a decent media source. I want to know their goals and their strategy in pursuing hiring people like Allen West, Alfonso Rachel, Andrea Tantaros, and Steven Crowder (Pajamas Media), before I even consider throwing my full support behind it, and you should too.

Do you want Lindsey Graham to host a show? I mean, he's definitely not a "yes man". I understand the need for middle ground to show a diverse offering. But to hire people who have ridiculed and harmed us? Seems more than odd.

Yes, I read your comment

My point is, you understand the need for a diverse lineup, but don't want one still.

Ok, i'm done

whatever dude

I guess you just see trolls in everyone who disagrees with you. That explains your original comment and all of them since.

yeah ok

One sentence responses that entail "Nuh uh" as your only rebuke is totally not trolling. /sarcasm
Perhaps you should look up the definition.

So now people who are concise are also trolls. Dang.

Love the concept, but the name...?

I understand the libertarian angle on the name, "JAG", but unless there is a really catchy way of using the acronym to imbed this channel's defining scope and message that sets them apart from other media; then it may not serve them well except to distinguish themselves alphabetically.

We will ALWAYS be skeptical...

its the nature of our game, right?

We have been burned too many times to just roll over and say, "I'll buy that", to the next big "thing".

We are all like Missourians...show me.

I don't think many would fault us for that.

Having us here, willing to listen and watch, that is the key. You have our attention. How will you present yourselves? If you are true "liberty-minded", ORIGINAL "tea-party" driven folks, we will get on board and embrace you as we do manystrom's "project" here.

If you are not, we'll tell you. Fair enough?

I want guys like Ron Paul, G Edward Griffin, Jim Rogers and Peter Thiel on the board of directors. The problem with that is what?

It's called knowing your

It's called knowing your target audience. Lots of things do not appeal to the hard core liberty minded however if we want to reach the masses we have to reach down to their level and offer them a hand up in a manner that does not alienate them at the get go.

hmmmmm......

"target audience"?

I'm already disillusioned!

LIBERTY sells itself. You start talking "watered down" liberty to appeal to the masses and you are losing me and a LOT more of US here.

If that is the premise of this show, to water down Liberty to appeal the "masses", why are you here trying to sell that to us?

US, after all? In that case, we will catch up to you in a year or two when you reach OUR level of "Ron Paul" LIBERTY.

We don't have time for your Liberty 101 class but we wish you well, will help all we can, and won't block you in your "mass appeal".

Thank you for bringing the "dumbed down" masses to us. There is a place for that and we absolutely respect you for the job you intend to do.

With all due respect, just a note of caution. You seem to be alienating a lot of people with your "choices" here in the beginning. MOST people would rather have an unknown Libertarian commentator than a well known "personality" with a checkered past vis a vis the Liberty movement.

its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...
Rockin' the FREE world in Tennessee since 1957!
9/11 Truth.

Sigh!

So you woke up one day and was magically a hardcore libertarian? Where do you suggest we start if liberty 101 is not the place?

No one is talking about watering down the message you have to get them to listen first. If you just blast them with an A to Z shit list they won't even listen. Millions come home turn on the TV and let their guard down to what ever propaganda is on the tube and we see the results. We have to get on that playing field to turn the tide before we are in full lock down.

You guys that want all or nothing would have us sit on our thumbs if you don't agree with every little thing rather then take a few steps forward.

No journey is completed in one step. It takes many to get to the destination. Some of them may be missteps but then you have learned and can correct course...

We have not even been in on the same playing field as the enemies of freedom. This gets us on that field and we can promote liberty to these same people in a manner they are accustomed to hearing things promoted instead of the crap they normally get. Someone has got to do it!
