Court approves hiring discrimination against high-IQ cops.

Court OKs Barring High IQs For Cops
ABC News, New London, Conn.

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upheld a lower court’s decision that the city did not discriminate against Robert Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test.

Honest, this is not a story from The Onion. According to the story, they're just afraid that smart people would be bored by police work. So the guy who wanted to be a cop is working in a prison, instead, like that's not boring? Rationale: FAIL.

Much more likely: intelligent people might be more likely to notice the sheer malevolent evil of enforcing "laws" crafted by scum-of-the-earth politicians which threaten, rather than protect, life, liberty or property. Intelligent cops might hesitate to enforce such laws. They might even become Oath-Keepers. Can't have that.

Just noticed that this story is from 2000! Somehow it got to be news on today's Liberty Crier (May 4, 2013). If such policies have been in effect for the last 13 years, that could explain a lot of the police abuse cases recently . . .

Racial quotas...

..rather than "bored with the work" is the more likely culprit.

Affirmative Action for any licensed service that involve any sort of merit testing were a problem in the 70s, so the tests were dumbed down to the point that that right number passed.

You're right about the 13 yr time span - probably close to

full turnover by now, all with low IQs, just how they like it.

Somebody remind me why people think...

that police services are better left to the State and not the market.

I'm at a loss here for a rational explanation, but that would probably be because that belief is wholly irrational.

It becomes less interesting

when you realize that the list is not based on any of the people listed actually having taken a standardized IQ test. It's just some guy's opinion about the relative intelligence of the people on the list.

Ahh, that explains it...can't have thinkers on the force...

they might actually reason with the 'suspect', or support the Bill of Rights! Can't have that, now, can we? (sigh)

Not so sure

I read somewhere before that George W Bush's IQ was 131 and Obama's was 130. I wonder what the IQ is of the average tyrant.

Seems to be OK for the leadership

but not those doing the drudge work....

Ancient Athens, Greece Used Slaves for Watchman Police.

Scythian Archers policed ancient Athens, Greece. A ‘police-force’ of Scythian archers, armed with ropes dipped in red paint, would try to herd those citizens present in the city to the Pnyx for the meetings. The late-comers tainted with red paint lost their right to payment.

In ancient Athens the so-called “Scythian Archers,” who may or may not have been from Scythia and many may have been archers, served as a police force, keeping order in public gatherings (the Council, the Assembly, and the Agora) and perhaps authorized to use force against citizens under certain circumstances.

They were public slaves (δημόσιοι) who served as guards (φύλακες) or watchmen (ὕποπτοι) in the city. Evidence is from either the 5th century comedy of Aristophanes — which is difficult evidence to interpret — or from ancient scholarship from many centuries later.

Well, that

explains a lot.

I have been told...

I have been told that they want people just smart enough to do the job and just smart enough to realize they can not get a better job so that they will stay on the job.

well now maybe they can stop

well now maybe they can stop giving bachelors degrees in "police science" LOL

Smart people need not apply.

That's just embarrassing.

Its because they want people

Its because they want people to enforce stuff without question, not think for themselves.
