Conspiracy Theorists Here on the DP

Dear DP,

Sorry to break it to you, but YES there ARE Conspiracy Theorists on this website. In my own personal life, I started researching "The Illuminati" about 5 years ago. Yes I do believe they exist, and yes I do believe they are working behind the scenes to bring forth a "New World Order."

That being said, it was my conspiratorial mind that brought me to the Liberty Movement, so like it or not, we are a part of the movement. Yes, I keep the conspiracy stuff to a minimum here, because yes this site is about Limited and Constitutional Government first and foremost. But the attacks on Conspiracy Theorists should stop. At the end of the day we are all on the same team.

Unfortunately there is a lot of dis-/misinformation on the subject of the Illuminati, so YES there are a lot of "conspiratards" out there. They just haven't figured it out yet, and are probably in it for "Conspiratainment" anyways. Just because there are a few crazies out there, doesn't mean we are all whackos or nutters. Even I have subscribed to some off-the-wall stuff, but my mind is not closed off to debunkers and I have been debunked before. I am ok with that. All I am after is the TRUTH. Nothing more, and nothing less.

That is all.

Good post Mike.

A conspiracy is defined as 2 or more people planning to commit a crime. Often times when police are investigating crimes they have to come up with a theory on how the crime was committed. Does that make all investigators "conspiracy theorists?"

Also consider this: If a government wanted to stop citizens from investigating criminal activity by government officials, would it not be effective to demonize such behavior? "We can't have citizens investigating crimes. That's only for the police to do!" Can you see how the whole "conspiracy theory" label chills citizens from researching crimes? You can't very well report a crime to the cops if you have no evidence. You can, it just probably won't lead to a conviction. If you do have evidence, and you go to report the crime or treason to the cops, and they refuse to take your police report, then they are guilty of misprison of felonies, or misprison of treason, (18USC2382).

There is nothing wrong with coming up with theories on criminal activity planned by 2 or more people. Like another poster said, be willing to have your theory disproved, and willing to accept the truth if the given theory is disproved. Also, people who are not conspiracy theorists need to objectively evaluate the truth when facts and evidence supports the theory that 2 or more people planned to commit a crime.

The problem is not with "conspiracy theorists" - people who pose theories on how a crime was planned by 2 or more people. The problem is with the negative connotation society has given to these 2 words when they are put together. If one wanted to say, "making claims not supported by any grounds, or by weak or unwarranted grounds, hurts the liberty movement.", Ok that is a fair criticism of certain particular individuals who engage in that. However, that does not justify collectivizing all of those people into a group and affixing to them a label intended to be demeaning. That's not logical to do, if one is opposed to collectivism. Besides, putting these 2 words together and giving them a negative connotation is not much different than redefining the meaning of the words like the progressive left does all of the time, like redefining "income" so that it no longer means "gains or earnings on some sort of corporate activity", for example.

Well, that's what I think.

Welcome. Can I say welcome?

There are coast to coast type woos who just like to think there is magic in the world.

This is not aimed at you. It is aimed at woo-tropic people.

Woos do nothing to help us to be free. Shadow people. Reptilians. WTF ever.

There is disinfo. How do we know. Because you can look on youtube and see some crap about ufo's flying around the towers.

Don't be a woo.

My issue with the use of the word "illuminati" is that it's not necessary. Why not address the actual known criminals and conspirators among our elite? ILLUMINATI is simply too shadowy to finger known people and institutions.

I refuse to

acknowledge scum as my "elite". Toerags one and all.

best info on Illuminati

In your opinion, what is the most reliable source of information on the Illuminati?

For you Vickie

First off, don't listen godsfavson down below. Robert Langdon is a FICTIONAL character from The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. Tom Hanks was the ACTOR who played Robert Langdon in the book to movie films. And Dan Brown was the AUTHOR of those two books.

+1 Mike, for the interesting thread.
Conspiracy : 1. an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons; plot. 2. a combination of persons for a secret, unlawful, or evil purpose: He joined the conspiracy to overthrow the government.
Synonyms = 1. collusion, sedition. 2. plot, intrigue, cabal all refer to surreptitious or covert schemes to accomplish some end, most often an evil one.

You wrote - [ yes I do believe they are working behind the scenes to bring forth a "New World Order.]

The NWO has already come about in the shape of the UNO. This was the project of two world wars, and it$ goal. Many sub-plots were made for the greater one. UN created the Zionist state, which was planned in secret by the British & european aristocrats. This way the brats of the european ghettos were shipped to/ arrived in Falestine. Now the U$ veto protects all mischief of zion.
Corrupted-religion & malice play the biggest roles, some downplay it for a reason.
Their main tools to gain power are usury, war and divide & rule..

Some of the West , Texas missile theories may have come true

They just arrested a paramedic with a pipe bomb in his house. ATF are all over him.

Missile = pipe bomb?

Sorry if I missed the sarcasm.

I posted this a few minutes ago, but it got deleted:

When Sandy Hook was causing the corporate media believers grief, they put up a thread for all things Sandy Hook. It seemed to calm things down.

If they did something similar for Boston, maybe it would tame tempers and there wouldn't be 10 Boston subjects on the "Most Viewed" list. The corporate media believers would probably stay away from the thread and a few people wouldn't have to go report to the Mod Suggestion Box every 30 minutes.

Just so ya know

I up voted this idea.

I have nothing wrong with

I have nothing wrong with conspiracy theorists in the movement. I just don't want the conspiracy theorists to have people associating the movement and libertarianism with conspiracy theories because it would turn off those who aren't receptive to conspiracy theories.

You are right

The majority of conspiracy theorists are loud, generalizing, and jumps to conclusions, as well as bad at explaining their points to the normal folks.

Libertarianism wants minimum government, regardless of motive, "we" want the outcome

I want to add that it might

I want to add that it might be a good idea to not associate libertarianism with skeptisism either. That way we don't turn off conspiracy theorists. Damn edit expiration time rule.

you mean skepticism?

That is like saying you think we should not allow content here written by people with advanced degrees. It might offend the uneducated or intellectually lazy members! We should also ban anyone who has actual knowledge and experience in the subjects they post about, as that might offend the armchair critics and dilletantes. ;)
