In truth, technically speaking, we've been hijacked in 1913 by NWO banksters, but 'legally' we've been officially a Police State since FDR signed the War Powers Act/National Emergencies Act in 1933, and EVERY SINGLE POTUS since have annually renewed it.
Yup, not much talked about, but not metaphorically, but LITERALLY we've always lived in an official police state/martial law, since 1933. No really, really:
On November 19, 1973, the Special Committee on the Termination of the National Emergency presented Senate Report 93-549 at the first session of the 93rd Congress. The Introduction to the report, an examination of existing War and Emergency Powers Acts, states:
“Since March 9, 1933, the United States has been in a state of declared national emergency. In fact, there are now in effect four presidentially-proclaimed states of national emergency: In addition to the national emergency declared by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, there are also the national emergency proclaimed by President Harry S. Truman on December 16, 1950, during the Korean conflict, and the states of national emergency declared by President Richard M. Nixon on March 23, 1970, and August 15, 1971.”
“These proclamations give force to 470 provisions of Federal law. These hundreds of statutes delegate to the President extraordinary powers, ordinarily exercised by the Congress, which affect the lives of American citizens in a host of all-encompassing manners. This vast range of powers, taken together, confer enough authority to rule the country without reference to normal Constitutional processes.”
“Under the powers delegated by these statutes, the President may: seize property; organize and control the means of production; seize commodities; assign military forces abroad; institute martial law; seize and control all transportation and communication; regulate the operation of private enterprise; restrict travel; and, in a plethora of particular ways, control the lives of all American citizens.”
“With the melting of the cold war–the developing detente with the Soviet Union and China, the stable truce of over 20 years duration between North and South Korea, and the end of U.S. involvement in the war in Indochina-there is no present need for the United States Government to continue to function under emergency conditions.”
FDR’s Emergency Act has NEVER been rescinded; recently, as predicted, and practiced by every POTUS since FDR, Barack Hussein oBUSHma just renewed it:
The United States has been in a state of national emergency continuously for over 30 years, since the Carter administration invoked it premised on the “situation in Iran”. In November 2012, President Barack Obama informed Congress that the State of National Emergency in effect since November 14, 1979 will be extended another year. The National Emergencies Act grants various powers to the president during times of emergency, and was intended to prevent a president from declaring a state of emergency of indefinite duration.
To me, yesterday and today were just another act in the theater of the absurd.
Currency collapse is coming, all the while the biggest explosion in technology boom is coinciding with that mess. Graphene/carbon nanotubes, 3D printing, anyone?
Where will all this lead??
How will we all come out? Who knows?
We're in the midst of an epic, epic history in the making.
But I know one thing: develop your own parallel systems of 'thrival' (thrive+survival) because the Ruling Class already has.
IMHO, there's no 'fixing' anything. Stock up, but leave a bit of room for beauty and creativity will ya? lol.

Title: Presidential Emergency Powers: The So-Called "War Powers Act of 1933"
CRS report number: 95-753
Author(s): David M. Ackerman, American Law Division
Date: August 20, 1996
The "War Powers Act of 1933" is a name given by some members of the militia and patriot movement to emergency banking legislation passed in 1933 five days after President Roosevelt came into office. It has apparently been so labeled by some because the banking legislation amended the "Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917" in order to give legal underpinning to President Roosevelt's efforts to cope with the banking crisis. It is alleged by its modern-day critics that by that amendment the government in effect declared war on the American people and began a reign of unconstitutional rule through President emergency powers. These allegations overlook the facts that the amendment of the Trading with the Enemy Act has subsequently been repealed, but the powers exercised pursuant to President Roosevelt's proclamation of national emergency have been terminated, and that the President's exercise of emergency powers is now regulated under the "National Emergencies Act."

Senate Report 93-549 was a document issued by the "Special Committee on the Termination of the National Emergency" of the 93rd Congress (Hence the "93" in the name) (1973 to 1975). Its purpose was to discuss and address the 40 year long state of emergency that had been in effect in the United States since 1933. During the continued state of emergency, Congress voted to transfer powers from Congress to the President. The debate to end long-running states of National Emergency was ended in 1976 with the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601-1651), which limits any such declared emergencies to two years.
In this 1973 official report, the U.S. Senate admits that the Emergency Powers given to the President under the pretense of the National Emergency of 1933 have remained in force and that the normal function of the Federal government has been suspended.

Twelve years after the worst terrorist attack in American history, President Obama yet again extended his predecessor’s Declaration of National Emergency for another year. The declaration, which was originally put into place on September 14, 2001, was renewed on Tuesday.
“The terrorist threat that led to the declaration on September 14, 2001, of a national emergency continues,” wrote President Obama. “For this reason, I have determined that it is necessary to continue in effect after September 14, 2013, the national emergency with respect to the terrorist threat.”
The powers provided to the executive branch by President George W. Bush’s declaration include the ability to “detain enlisted members of the Coast Guard beyond their terms of enlistment,” “order any enlisted member of the Coast Guard on the retired list to active duty” and “increase the number of members of the armed services on active duty beyond the number for which funds have been appropriated,” according to a report [PDF] by the Congressional Research Service.
