Obama administration lifts veil on hospital prices

We get to see how much some hospitals charge for their services! I read a book once that said that insurance companies are happy to pay for exorbitant prices, because those prices make their services essential.

The United States spends more per capita on health care than any developed nation but isn’t healthier for it. American hospitals outperform their international peers on some health measures, such as breast and colorectal cancer survival rates, according to an analysis by the Commonwealth Fund.

But it has among the highest rates of potentially preventable deaths from asthma and amputations due to diabetes, and rates that are no better than average for in-hospital deaths from heart attack and stroke, the group found.

It would be nice to see a

It would be nice to see a comparision of labor, equipment, and materials costs versus what they charge.
I can tell ya one thing though, doctors make an obscene amount of money compared to many ther jobs.

If you take 15 patients a day on average(some number thats like a rule of thumb) and say the doctor makes 182000 a year(although thats low for a hospital dr but its easy to use)So thats $500 a day or about $33 a patient visit.
Considering that hospital visits cost 10 times that or more, just what does anyone think of that? I am not sure what to say.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.
