Andrew Napolitano: Why We Should Mistrust the Government

It should come as no surprise that President Obama told Ohio State students at graduation ceremonies last week that they should not question authority and they should reject the calls of those who do. He argued that "our brave, creative, unique experiment in self-rule" has been so successful that trusting the government is the same as trusting ourselves; hence, challenging the government is the same as challenging ourselves. And he blasted those who incessantly warn of government tyranny.

Yet, mistrust of government is as old as America itself. America was born out of mistrust of government. The revolution that was fought in the 1770s and 1780s was actually won in the minds of colonists in the mid-1760s when the British imposed the Stamp Act and used writs of assistance to enforce it. The Stamp Act required all persons in the colonies to have government-sold stamps on all documents in their possession, and writs of assistance permitted search warrants written by British troops in which they authorized themselves to enter private homes ostensibly to look for the stamps.

These two pieces of legislation were so unpopular here that Parliament actually rescinded the Stamp Act, and the king’s ministers reduced the use of soldier-written search warrants. But the searches for the stamps turned the tide of colonial opinion irreversibly against the king.

I don't think this man is

I don't think this man is capable of being anything BUT divisive on almost any subject. He takes great energy dividing one group against another.

Who are you talking about?

Judge Napolitano or President Obama?

I believe in the freedom to be what we choose to be.

Oh sorry .... most

Oh sorry .... most assuredly, obama ... I guess I thought it was common knowledge to all.

Too Bad Their Wasn't Q & A

Because someone could of asked if it was ok to question President Bush when he took us to War with Iraq under false pretenses. Or if Obama arming Libyan rebels (many of whom were Al-Qaeda) is an example of authority we are not supposed to question. Or if the Benghazi attack being the result of a youtube video and had nothing to do with the fact that we fire hundreds of missiles into Libya and killed countless innocent people to over throw an "evil" dictator that we supported and help to gain power...

Ask mother.

well.. I ditto you here!

Did they poison the judge?

He doesn't look all that great lately. Great guy--hope he watches his back.

Yes they Poisoned the Judge

his diet was just another "false flag". Good Catch

Didn't he lose a bunch of weight recently?

Old people skin is not as elastic, we tend to sag for a long time after weight gain / loss. I am not sure if that is what you are talking about, but hopefully that is all it is. He'll be better in the long run for shedding the extra baggage.

He lost weight, alright

Not sure if he was on a diet or not. Sometimes people say that when they want to keep matters private. He just looks sort of tired and his skin looks pale and ashy, his hair is slightly thinner, and he doesn't seems as energetic and happy.

As many of us know, there are very evil people out there. But when it all comes around, they'll get theirs times three. It's just the law of the universe.

We certainly live in a very interesting time--keep your eyes open...there are many lessons to observe in the next few years if people don't change their wicked ways--they won't!

Only about as far as I can throw it....

Not at all!
