Why His Crazy March Might be Legitimate

He is protesting how Washington DC updated its firearms laws since they were ruled unconstitutional by the supreme court https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller. I dont understand any of it. Anyone care to explain?

Basically Heller dealt with

Basically Heller dealt with the idea of the right to KEEP arms more than bear. At least that is how the liberals in DC are interpreting it. So Adam is challenging the right to BEAR arms. But he's doing it in a way that a Court will see him as a clown and be very biased against him. He's doing it in a way that will destroy the right to bear arms in the US.

Ventura 2012

No government or the

Supreme Court can destroy the unalienable right of the people to keep and bear arms. We the people can only give this right away, which we have allowed to happen. "Congress shall make no law..." infringing on the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

We have to work to get rid of "the US is a democracy" agenda. Ron Paul wants to follow the US Constitution, as does Tom Woods and Lew Rockwell. They're all crazy according to the MSM. Sanity is defined as, wiping out the 1st amendment, the 4th amendment, the 5th amendment and now the 2nd amendment which protects the 1st, 4th and 5th amendment.

Democracies are established and are vital for socialism to flourish, which governments devolve into communism/dictatorship, and end in mob rule. As far as I can see, people who want this form of government are truly crazy.

Keep in mind, whatever happens on July 4th, the seat of government, Washington DC., and our representatives are tasked with the job of protecting our rights...the chief of police in Washington, DC. tells us, more or less, the Constitution doesn't apply to Washington, DC., ironic isn't it?

Crazy and discredited?

Anarchy: Without rulers, NOT without rules. Heaven forbid! I don't care what the "movement" is all about, this is what I'M all about. From one Adam to another, thumbs up brother!

I foresee bad days ahead

If it all goes to sh*t when they try to cross the bridge, the liberty movement will forever be seen as a bunch of crazy gunslinging wingnuts, and that is not what it is about. Ron Paul is not an anarchist. It's just crazy. I will tell you what anarchy will bring to this country: Total destruction. So perhaps using ones brain power instead of brute force should suffice in changing the system. I, for one, cannot condone violence, or the idiocy of running around Washington, DC brandishing weapons "just because".

Since when...

Since when did exercising your rights become a bad thing? Since when is fighting for your rights a bad thing? I don't consider myself to be an all out anarchist and of course I don't want things to turn violent but if it becomes necessary as it had during the American Revolution then so be it. Are you saying that you wouldn't have condoned American freedom fighters taking up arms against the tyrannical British? If it wasn't for patriots willing to fight tooth and nail for our freedoms there wouldn't even be a United States.

Adam Kokesh was the guy to turn me on to Ron Paul

Made me a delegate in the convention.

He is all right in my books, a revolutionary, pushes the envelope WAY more than his cowardice critics would ever do, and has balls of steel.

I SALUTE the guy.

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

I did call on a million man

I did call on a million man gun march on D.C. in my past writings. If Adam took up this call I made or did it on his own, I will March with Adam.

We need to show the politicians in DC and the MSM who is really in charge of our country.

Bmore-

I'm afraid the DP community isn't what it once was. Perhaps this is because we lack the focus of an electon with our trusted Ron Paul as the figurehead.

Bringing your guns to DC will not bring liberty to America. Liberty is an idea, a state of mind, a philosophy. It cannot be brought about by force or by removal of government, it comes from the consciousness of the people. Awakening.

To the down voters- Yes, anarcho-capitalism is the state of libertarian enlightenment. Our society is not there. We must first push for a republican form of government, "to secure these rights, governments are instituted". Get it? The founders set up a republic. It is the smallest form of government one can have and still survive the world today.

Bmore has been on this site for a while and he's no dummy. He's had great intelligent contributions to the cause of liberty. I wish there were more sensible folks around here anymore. I'm afraid the DP is gasping for air. It is not Michael's fault. It is the lack of introspection from the community.

By the way, I bet Ron Paul, in his heart, thinks it's a bad idea too.

God Bless

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

Im just furious over this.

Im just furious over this. You're right, this site has been taken over by anarchists.

Jim Karger is correct:

Some readers of these stories will reel backwards in horror. The very suggestion that the end of violence will result from violence is abhorrent to many who subscribe to the non-aggression principle, but history tells us that change, real change, results from revolutions, from standing up and saying, "no more," and then defending against the onslaught of the State as it retaliates to crush dissent.

Which brings me to the point: "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." Chairman Mao said that, and while he was wrong about a lot of things, he got that one right and every anarchist and libertarian should remember it, too, not with a view toward primary aggression to accomplish a political goal but to understand that the State will aggress against those who question its legitimacy, especially those who are prepared to defend themselves – like Brownback, Kokesh, and Wilson.

http://lewrockwell.com/karger/karger14.1.html

Bmore

I am sure you have heard what lew rockwell thinks of AK's plan. Not all anarchists are backing it.

I don't think it is the greatest Idea, but I think most people who are either pissed about it or thumping their chest over it are making a big deal about nothing.

My feelings are Meh, it won't be a big deal one way or the other. Granted that opinion is subject to change as the 4th draws near, but right now...it could go alot of ways.

If I were betting, my money would be on the police state over reacting with lots of black tanks, apc, humvee type stuff. Kokesh says they will turn around and that's my bet, they do just that. No arrests, no shots fired.

I would also hedge my bet with this side bet. They arrest a bunch of people including adam a head of the fourth for some pre chrime. They have done in the past in MSP before RNC 08...and they weren't even talking about bearing arms.

I did. And Lew should

I did. And Lew should recognize that not all people are like him where he can spout his harsh(often deserved) rhetoric against the "state" as "criminals" etc and the expect everyone to be as passive as he is about it. Lew is actually the one with cognitive dissonance here in my opinion. Adam is acting like anarchists historically usually act. Not the intellectuals but the activist radicals.

Ventura 2012

Historically anarchists are strange

Lew is new age anarchist...most of the historical anarchist I think of in history would be of the leftern persuasion. I am not entirely sure of their beliefs and motivations for attacks. It would be an interesting read if you know of anything good out there.

Some how I doubt one could prove the anarchists that have historically lashed out violently understand the state as an entity the way that Lew does. But it would be interesting to find a way to compare and contrast those views.

I always got the sense the Anarchists that have acted violently were closet communists. Anecdotal the "anarchists" protesting the RNC 08 were definitely lefty kooks, I know this b/c I spent 2 days with them. Their idea of anarchy wasn't no government. It was no leaders. Boy were their planning meetings interesting and extremely long.

I don't think Lew is suffering from cognitive dissonance. I think he is extremely intelligent and has seen this battle in his own time fought several different ways and has also studied how it has been fought through out history. He is 100% correct when he says violence is the tool of the state and that if you believe in the N.A.P. you should at least consider the most peaceful means to tear down the state as the first course of action. Might makes right should vanish along with the state.

So what if he stirs up a lynch mob? He isn't leading a mob, Kokesh is. Those are very understandable reactions to the state, but violence won't serve anarchists' goals, it will only serve the state goals. People make their own choices and Lew has told people to stop demonstrating in DC and go read a book on more than one occasion.

Liberty Movement

Well the liberty movement should move quick to distance themselves away from Adam Kokesh if he is going to have a bunch of gun wielding loons marching through the streets of Washington. He has not made clear what his goal is other than a gambit. I would trust the elected representatives of this government more than some guy wielding a shotgun with a troop of militants down Pennsylvania Ave. For me this is against Ron Paul's message of trying to change the system through ideas. While Ron Paul is going all around the country speaking to university kids, this guy is brandishing weapons and acting like a tough guy. Its stupid. Gun control is not going to pass so all he is going to do is possibly get a lot of people arrested or killed, which would be a tragedy. And most, sane, rational people will understand that despite his claim the 2nd amendment is universal, those days have long since passed. It would be crazy if the entire population of Manhattan was armed, but perhaps not so crazy, if this was the case in a small town in Tennessee or Texas. This matter has been rightfully left to the states, for the most part, other than a background check to prove you are not a criminal, which I think is rational is a civilized society. His ends do not justify the means. Well, such tactics never do.

Wtf

Why are they loons for wanting to disobey unjust laws?

This movement at times seems like two prisoners...

...who can't agree on whether to climb a wall to escape, or dig a tunnel. Instead of doing either, they do nothing but argue, which alerts the guards and foils both plans.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

Well they both still want to

Well they both still want to escape so that's what we'll have to work with.

Libertarianism is a fine

Libertarianism is a fine short-term goal. But the overall objective, logically, should be anarchy/voluntarism.

Well

I'm definitely not agreeing with the op, but there is a debate to be had regarding anarchism vs minarchism.

If you guys don't see how

If you guys don't see how this nutjob running across the river with a loaded rifle in the middle of the hostile political climate post-Sandy Hook is horrible then I don't know what to tell you. The worst thing is that they are going to call him an anarchist(because he is) and then tie in his past support of Ron Paul to paint us all as crazies. We don't want your toxic sludge attached to our movement!

Ventura 2012

Well then

During the Revolutionary War, a man was shot and fell dead on the battlefield. His wife, 7 months pregnant, immediately took up arms in his place. I guess that if that "nutjob" man would have stayed home and creamed his pants every time Fox News said the word 'Libertarian', and his "toxic sludge" pregnant wife just sat down and watched Desperate Housewives texting on her iPhone, the tyrannical British would have fell on their own bayonets and victory would have ensued.

Liberty: Too big to fail

You mean Fox news

was talking about toxic sludge and libburtarians back then? Shit howdy! I just spat my Pabst. Grunt Grunt.

Ventura 2012

Let's imagine what would

Let's imagine what would happen if a few hundred show up. He, and a lot of other people get arrested/shot. Largley the protest is a failure, an embarassment and a setback. Though if the government decides to display its brutality, a few people may finally wake up.

Lets imagine now, what would happen if a hundred thousand or more people show up. Exactly what will the government do besides piss in their collective pants as these guys march around DC, then leave peacefully?

You think the parasite politicians won't think about the 100,000 armed Americans displaying how fucking serious they are the next time they are asked to vote to steal more of our rights?

Or lets say that our insane government decides to attack them? What do you think will happen when a hundred thousand armed men who are fed up with tyranny start getting shot at and seeing their fellow Americans dying?

I think wether this goes well or goes bad depends on the turnout. I also think those complaining about Adam don't have a fraction of his courage. I think if I didn't have kids, id march with him. However I do, and my threshold must therefore be much higher than his. But I admire this man. Like other's have said, if there were men with such balls in the past, we wouldn't be where we are today.

The last time men of courage like this decided to risk it all to show a tyrannical government that they were unappologetic of being free, they ended up tossing out a whole lot of British scum.

I want this to happen politically, not with voilence. I think taking over the party is the best way. That said, I have nothing but respect for Adam Kokesh at this point, even if im not sure its the best way.

If 100,000 armed protesters showed up in Washington, DC

This would be considered sedition and in many ways an armed rebellion, in which case, I would think, nothing would quite be off the table to ensure the security and continuity of the United States government. If the goal of these "protests" is to overthrow the government, I want nothing to do with it.
