I'm glad that he is speaking out

but the best way to do is to to unschool.

Get out of there kid you are not helping yourself.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

He should have yelled at his mom.....

For enrolling him in a public school.

    Sounds like the school and

Sounds like the school and the teachers are wasting the students' time...

    Molding Minds

    And Vice Versa

Teachers often start out enthusiastic, but often lose that enthusiasm because of student and parent attitudes, and a lack of freedom to innovate due to state and federal interference. Don't be too hard on teachers--no matter how good they are, the teachers unions won't let you reward them, either.

    What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

    Why aren't teachers teaching

Why aren't teachers teaching in environments that benefits both the students and the teachers? You've basically made the argument against the current school system.

    My Only

Problem was didn't any one notice no one in class stood up for the kid. No applause, no agreements... just silence. I love how young people are waking up... but is that enough? 1 out of probably 25 in that class? I bet kids made fun of him when he left the class just to be cool around the Teacher.

I can tell you as someone who

I can tell you as someone who graduated in 2009 from public education that they are good at keeping people obedient. No one will give applause for him or they will be lashed out at, given detention, parking passes taking away, searched, etc...

    Probably 35 kids

probably 35 kids in the class

Like a small class but I could wrong.

    I was guesstimating too

:) Class sizes are getting huge.

I was taking a jab at the school system, not you...

    Good for him

I had a scuffle with a Junior year english teacher which allowed me to graduate as a junior @ 16. I made a somewhat rude but honest assessment of her skills as an english teacher when several other students were present and she flunked me. Luckily I kept every document and was able to show I had an A-, and magically graduated that year.

The responsibility IMO bears on both the student and teacher.

My English skills are nowhere near where they were then, but as advice to any HS student here, keep every single piece of work. You might even need something 20 or 30 years from now. Remember the NAP and stick with it.

That kid might magically graduate as a sophomore now due to the negative press.

I hope he makes a good life for himself. Glad he's a Ron Paul fan.

    edit: I wrote glade, hehe...

    I don't get this

This kid can't even talk normally. I couldn't listen to him for more than a minute. Why is this on top of the front page? Slow news day?

That the whole point. He wants to be educated.

    That is a terrible comment.

if you watched the video you would have learned he was held back twice. He failed 9th grade, came back and dropped out the next year after two semesters. Now he is back in school with grades self assessed to be A's, B's, and C's a far cry from failing.

The fact that he appears to be making a turnaround in his own education is the best part despite it has nothing to do with the story. Cut the kid some slack.

Better yet he would like to meet Ron. How about helping make that happen because it's not like he is that far away.

    I loved his delivery although

I loved his delivery although some people think Jeff should have used different rhetoric and had a different attitude. If someone can make a 1 minute 30 second video demonstrating how the same rant should have been done as effective and get 3 million views in 2 days, they should make one.

I also expect a good product for my property school tax money and not just a bunch of politically indoctrinated morons.

How do we know what happened before the camera was on?

Or after? We can all agree that what he was saying on camera was right but what about before or after? Do we have the full story? Why are we quick to believe what this kid did was patriotic but we question Boston Bombing tapes? Shouldn't we apply the same logic and search out all possible outcomes before coming to a conclusion? I want to believe that he did the right thing before being on the iPhone camera, however I admit that I do not know the full story.

To all those that down voted...

Were you in the classroom before this rant started?

    apparently the sappy idiot

apparently the sappy idiot brigade is dominating this thread, since the only insightful comments are the ones downvoted to oblivion.

I went and read every downvoted comment and pretty much agree.

the truth is that after 2

the truth is that after 2 weeks of this kid teaching the class he'd be passing out packets and watching the clock too. he is young and idealistic, so he does not realize that just because he has brains and excitement about learning doesn't mean the rest of the class does. its sad to see someone with his level of brightness and potential going to school in such a place and looking and talking the way he does. and thinking how many millions there are like him.

Seems like you were never blessed with a loving teacher.

    That's very sad for you.

Try looking up this guy called Ron Paul. He's been teaching for a lot more than two weeks.

now thats how we make a difference!

    reeducate the old norms!

I want to give him a free copy of "Meet Ron Paul"

It is really nice to see a kid that has such a high expectation for his educators. Since he is a fellow Ron Paul supporter I feel it is the least I can do. Kudos to the school who did not punish him for stepping out of line.

    How about an experiment?

Give this kid, as an extra credit, an opportunity to teach a classroom? Either after hours or during a study period, see how he does? I bet the gnashing of teeth and screams from the NEA with their attorneys would soon be evident.

    Everyone has certain talents,

Everyone has certain talents, for some it's basketball, writing, singing, mathematics, and even teaching. And the list goes on.

But I'm proud of him, he might not have the solutions to fixing the education system but he at least knows something is wrong, and has the guts to speak his mind, whether it was the best decision or not.

WHere can I find the original video where he is talking to the teacher?

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.
    -Thomas Paine

The best part about this (besides the RP support)

is that standing up for ones education to authority went viral and the authority was punished.

A true flower can not blossom without sunlight and a true man can not live without love.

    It's wonderful to see....

It's wonderful to see this young man excited about his education. It is my hope to see more youth take it seriously. Unfortunately, after listening to both of these young men speak, it is very apparent that the government schools are failing our young people. It was very difficult to watch this interview as neither student was able to properly put a coherent sentence together. It saddens me to think of the the anti-intellectualism that is taking place in this country. I applaud both of these young men for taking the first steps in educating themselves! I wish Jeff Bliss nothing but the best!
