Megalomania is a psychopathological disorder

characterized by delusional fantasies of power, relevance, or omnipotence. 'Megalomania is characterized by an inflated sense of self-esteem and overestimation by persons of their powers and beliefs

Unfortunately, 'a person with megalomania may not be interested in self-reflection or personal change',so the talking cures may be less effective than medication.

An additional complication with analysis is comprised by the transference: 'if the analyst has any tendencies toward megalomania or authoritarianism, the response of the patient to the analyst will strengthen them.

In this age of political correctness...

we must be careful about labeling things a disorder or disease or we face a possibility that the group will be given special benefits! LOL

The NYT article on the

attempted treatment of child psychopaths actually had me a bit sympathetic for a while, that there's a wire missing from birth for them to develop empathy or inhibition based on anyone else's interests. They just can't help it. Then with the evidence that nothing they do makes a difference to help them, I thought the therapists had overlooked the possibility of giving them such restrictive, non-interactive upbringings that they wouldn't learn how to manipulate people as much - stupid therapy, I'd call it.

Just by posting this, it makes you look like the definition.

Although I know that wasn't your intention.

Wow, and to think I didn't even have to use my name in the title
