There's already a glut of grains in the world. What people need more of is organic vegetables and free range meat, not grain.

At what cost to health?

I suggest anyone who eats wheat in any form read "Wheat Belly" by William Davis, MD.

Essentially he says wheat increases our blood sugar levels more than any other food including table sugar, and we suffer numerous serious health consequences as a result. He also says wheat physically acts as a drug that makes us want to eat more, and his view is that the low fat, "healthy whole grain" craze is a sham.

He advocates a low carb diet including meat, cheese, nuts, some fruit, and low carb vegetables.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

Right on.

I can remember when I was a kid and grains and other starches were known to be fattening. I remember my mother saying that with occasional exception, there should only be one starch served with a meal because.....starches were fattening.

Then some time in my teens, grains and other starches magically became "health" foods and the government was telling us to eat many servings of them per day to be healthy. The government knows what's best, right? And it only has our best interest in mind, right? ;-)

I remember being puzzled by the 180 degree change, but it sounded cool to me. It was a great excuse to eat more bread, bagels, pasta, potatoes, cookies, Fritos, corn bread etc. But low and behold, everyone got fat and sick. The doctors said it was the fat we were still eating. So all of the low fat starch products came out. But we still got fatter and sicker.

Fortunately, we know better these days. Or at least many of us do.

Anyone who is still eating:

- standard wheat

- any corn or corn derived product

- soy

- cane sugar products

- industrial meat

- factory dairy

- more than 30% non-organic produce

Had better wake up and do some homework.

I feel sorry for people that are still shoveling this stuff down their throats thinking it's going to be fine.

It isn't and it only gets worse the more they abuse themselves.

And he is talking about modern genetically modified wheat. He starts the book off talking about getting real wheat and saying how much different it is from what we consume now.

Yep spelt is the wheat our ancestors ate not the hybrid junk today. Also sprouting the wheat take out all the sugar and starch and changes the make up to it act like a vegetable in the body.

We only eat organic spelt bread

It's a lot more expensive, but along with rice bread it's the only bread we eat in this house.
