After the Detroit police department stopped responding to 911 calls, a private firm filled the gap. (Thanks to Robert Fellner.)

In February of 2012 a write-up to http://CopBlock.org titled, "Frustrated, Detroit Residents Compete with Police" included a picture of Dale Brown, founder of the Threat Management Center.

In early 2013 when Pete Eyre visited Detroit as part of the http://copblock.org/tour he reached-out to Brown, who graciously welcomed Eyre at his facility.

Fantastic.

This is how policing should be done.

I love it!

We need more free market policing!

Free market police forces provide the consumer of police services with exactly what they want.

Profit, loss, and competition will guarantee rising quality and dropping prices.

I am really excited for this, hopefully the city of Detroit won't try to shut these guys down.

Hell, as Maywood, CA case clearly shows, ALL govts are in fact, by definition incorporated legal entities, ie CORPORATIONS.

Plus, if the fact that an entire municipality was shut down as their aberrant practices proved too risky for their own insurance company to continue to underwrite them, should beyond a shadow of a doubt prove to everyone that all govts are in fact nothing more than revenue leeching private corporations. Will RINO/neocon Statists, let alone liberal finally wake up to this reality?? Not likely.

There's a BIG difference between outsourced and privatized.

When a GOVERNMENT outsources to a private company that is NOT privatization.

Privatization means that the service is NOT provided by the government at all anymore, i.e. you are not taxed to pay for it.

Outsourcing means government still provides it via an outsourced private entity. Outsourcing is fascism, a "public private partnership" where the contract terms are not subject to taxpayer oversight NOR to a taxpayer vote (as courts have ruled over and over), but you are still taxed in order for the government to pay for the service. It is truly taxation without representation where there is little or no judicial recourse and any recourse is political through the "board of directors" overseeing the contract, i.e. through elected (sometimes unelected) government "officials".

agreed, to an extent; in contemporary parlance,

it's all semantics.

it's ALL corporatization, unless you actually don't have ANY govt or ANY mandated taxation for govt 'services' involved in a given sector, to begin with, or to speak of.

Definition-wise, to "outsource" merely means, to go outside of your usual channels to contract a service or an item or a product.

To "privatize," in current political parlance, means to sell off previously established or on-going govt function or entity to a private entity, or to hand over the management of a previously taxpayer funded function to a corporatist entity, while still having the taxpayers continue to foot the bill, like food stamps electronic debit cards and JP Morgan Chase.

it's ALL fascist corporatization, unless 'we' functionally operate outside the fiat currency standard paradigm, for good, period.

I 'get' what you're trying to discern and explain, but whether they euphemistically call it "modernize," "privatize," "individualize," "outsource," etc. it's all the same shiite, unless there is NO govt, or at least govt NOT doing ANY of those functions, period.

It is truly taxation without representation where there is little or no judicial recourse and any recourse is political through the "board of directors" overseeing the contract, i.e. through elected (sometimes unelected) government "officials".

True, but here's a 'radical' (getting to the root of the matter, the original definition of the term, not as most 'modern' dictionaries list: a tertiary definition description) idea: ALL taxation = taxation without representation.

There is no such thing as equal "representation" under ANY taxation. Period. Not factually, nor morally.

"Taxation with representation" maybe "legal" under the arbitrary whims of the Ruling Class, perhaps. But not by any contract (anyone here ever actually sign a 'social contract'??), nor even in purely practical terms, let alone moral terms: you cannot get a moral, fair or practical result, out of mandated statist thievery, aka taxation, and expect to actually receive a 'representative service.'

It's all an illusion, my friend, as you already know.
