Study: Why Pot Smokers Are Skinnier

Marijuana users had smaller waists and scored higher across several measures of blood sugar regulation.

"Marijuana use is associated with an acute increase in caloric intake," goes the clinical jargon for popular lore. Still despite eating more while high (by some measures, over 600 extra calories per day), marijuana users' extra intake doesn't seem to be reflected in increased BMI. Indeed, studies have identified a reduced prevalence of obesity in the pot smoking community.

Just a guess, but...

Admitting to a felony (constitutional or not) in public seems not-fully-thought-through, which tends to happen in youth.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

I appreciate the concern but I'm Canadian so.....

I'll be fine.

For the record, just in case there are people of the opinion that smoking pot has some sort of correlation to a lack of intelligence, I have been smoking since age 13. Today I am married, live in a condo downtown, have a 10-year-long career in graphic design, I pay my bills on time, I spend time with family and friends and feeling quite great, especially since I stopped smoking cigarettes about 5 years ago and I only drink a few times a year.

Awesome point!Check out my

Awesome point!

Check out my post above containing the documentary The Union: The Business Behind Getting High

The "experiment" that "proved" that cannabis use damages brain cells was extremely flawed. They took a bunch of monkeys, strapped masks to them, and pumped them full of pure cannabis smoke for minutes at a time. The problem? They didn't add any oxygen to the smoke! Obviously if you suffocate someone for minutes at a time over several months, they're going to suffer brain damage.

Now please say a prayer (or just remember them, if that's not your thing) for the poor monkeys that were tortured and killed by government-funded scientists in this reckless and misleading experiment. :(

Sadly, I know that study too well

I use that example often when talking to someone about the false study. Their suffering has served as a valuable tool of information for the marijuana movement. Such pointless cruelty just to preserve profits in industries that themselves cause thousands of human deaths every year such as Big Pharma, Oil, Drug Enforcement, Prison Industry, etc.

Funny though, that looking at the state of things today, it is clear that the ones in power are more like primitive multi-coloured monkeys running around throwing BS all over the place.

Great to hear and power to you!

I didn't ask the original question, was just surmising why the commenter had asked it. Canada is a cool place, even if it's a chilly place. :)

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Our Creator gave us a miraculous medicine, but Pharma can't make a profit off of it so it is unavailable to sick people.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Crohn's disease hits home

My wife and I have a friend who has suffered from Crohn's disease for the last 8 years. She had never taken Cannabis because her doctors...well you know how that story is going to turn out.

Anyway, she took 2 puffs at a party we threw 3 years ago and said that "after 10 minutes, I didn't think anything was happening. Then, I just wanted to eat whatever I was smelling."

She was 118lbs and ate 3/4's of our large Chicken and Artichoke pizza. Her sister was there and couldn't believe what she was seeing.

THC works and there's nothing the FDA/DEA/AMA/CDC can say to the contrary.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.
