Nightline 01/22 talk about GOP and Rudy

0 votes

The show Nightline discussed the recent drop out of Fred Thompson and where the GOP candidates stand now without even one mention that Ron Paul even existed! Than they went on to discuss Rudy and his coming Florida “must win”.
My wife and I just looked at one another in disgust and also sadly no surprise. The MSM is looking for a story, and Ron Paul needs to give it to them.

Logic would dictate

that if RP was so unelectable and such a "fringe" candidate then it shouldn't hurt having his voice heard right? After all if he is so "unelectable", why not give the man a platform and let the people decide.

I would suggest that Congressman Paul is the only electable candidate if the people were "allowed" to hear his views.

It should be crystal clear to most of us, by now, that the pressure to keep the lid on the "freedom idea" is intense.

We are starting to see some light shining through, but we should not become complacent.

Keep pushing! The pressure from beneath is increasing daily, and with freedom, liberty, and truth on our side we should be able to exert more pressure from beneath, and blow the lid off this pot o fascist crap and let freedom ring once again across America.

Let them continue on with

Let them continue on with their nonsense for now. Personally I'm enjoying seeing the demise of Giuliani and others. At the end of the day however, there will be 3 candidates left. Let's see them try to ignore RP when he's 1 of 3 candidates instead of 1 of 7. Can't wait to see how this thing plays out..

Remember

The Wottle race. I especially like it when the leader totally falls on his face.

I have simply never witnessed a concerted effort

to ignore a Presidential candidate on this scale. I'm in my mid-50's and have followed politics since my teen years. Sure, if a candidate never polled well, won nothing, had no money, etc., etc. it's typical to receive no attention. Just like it's the usual situation to ignore minor political parties (like the Libertarian Party for one).

Yet, in this case, even under the harshest standards, there can be no justification for how they are almost tripping over themselves to avoid even mentioning his name. Astounding. Sure, he has yet to win a primary or even get over 20% of the vote. But with a grassroots organization, money, motivated supporters, strong and controversial positions....this is no way the typical "fringe" candidate. On top of that, names like Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani are fading by the wayside.

The upper management of these news organizations simply must have passed directives to their staffs to downplay or ignore this candidate. It is truly beyond belief.

That was a great letter and,

That was a great letter and, being near your age I can really relate to it. I have never known that we had such media manipulation in this country. No one even knows about the NH recount! I hope you write them a letter, or at least copy nightline the one you already wrote. Maybe it would at least make someone feel guilty. It is a horrible thing they are doing. It is something "communists" would do, and it scares the H out of me..

It is frustrating

but you pointed out the reason yourself - they do look at Dr. Paul as "fringe". He is the equivalent of Kucinich to them - a candidate who has no chance to be nominated, ergo we won't cover him. Of course, that's not a valid reason to not cover him, but that doesn't bother the chattering classes who constantly have to discuss the horse race. Unless he is seen as hurting another candidate or taking a significant block in the party's base, they see no reason to discuss him. Maybe a win in Louisiana changes that, if it's seen as hurting Romney.

follow-up

in any "objective" environment, even if they still do not consider Dr. Paul to have a chance, the very existence of a spontaneous and persistant grassroots organization propelling a candidate through the primary process is history making! The campaign itself is a poltical phenomenon and news item. The true breakthrough in using the internet politically...
what a story.

Allot of crooked people have allot to lose....

if Ron Paul wins. This means many pockets won't receive the welcome greasing that they have enjoyed in the past. This means FOX will seriously have to retire or become a reality TV network in light of a Paul victory. They took a huge gamble and will have to live up to it. Same goes for the other mind shrinking news outlets.
