Hofstra student was killed by police

There was a time when this was a near impossibility. A police officer would never open fire on anyone, anywhere, when an innocent civilian was in harm's way. Nowadays, good luck...

Authorities: Hofstra student was killed by police

"Andrea Rebello was shot once in the head Friday morning by an officer who opened fire after the masked intruder pointed a gun at the officer while holding the 21-year-old Hofstra University student in a headlock, Nassau County homicide squad Lt. John Azzata said.

In a tense confrontation with the officer, gunman Dalton Smith "menaces our police officer, points his gun at the police officer," Azzata said. The officer opened fire, killing Smith and his hostage.

Azzata said the Nassau County police officer fired eight shots at Smith, who police described as having an "extensive" criminal background. Smith was hit seven times and died. Rebello was shot once in the head."

so...

you have to wonder what the officers rationale will be..

"well, he said he was gonna shoot her anyway so what's the big deal? I mean he said it over and over so I figured it was a done deal"

This is just horrific and I hope they realize it probably created a whole new bunch of new haters.

You know what, thats true.

You know what, thats true. Never before would you hear of something like this, they always tried saving the hostage. Now its like, who do you want to be killed by, the criminal, or police? Of course if that student had a gun, he might still be alive...

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

She. Her name was Andrea

And she's the exact type of person that would have benefited from owning a firearm.
