Accidental find shows Vitamin C kills tuberculosis

Published: May 22, 2013

Scientists said Tuesday they had managed to kill lab-grown tuberculosis (TB) bacteria with good old Vitamin C – an “unexpected” discovery they hope will lead to better, cheaper drugs.

A team from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York made the accidental find while researching how TB bacteria become resistant to the TB drug isoniazid.

The researchers added isoniazid and a “reducing agent” known as cysteine to the TB in a test tube, expecting the bacteria to develop drug resistance.

Instead, the team “ended up killing off the culture”, according to the study’s senior author William Jacobs, who said the result was “totally unexpected”.

Google vitamin c antimicrobial

Meet the most amazing anti-microbial which you have never heard of. Ascorbic acid kills viruses and bacteria and you can't really overdose on it. Known for over 100 years, but never published in any med school textbook which only teach how to write a prescription for meds.

lol

Results only unexpected to a quack who attended medical school in the west. I bet the authors of this discovery didn't even know vitamin c was an antibacterial. Victims of dumbing down of America via textbook, one classroom at a time.

one of my best friends growing up is an MD. I told him about the dangers of SSRI antidepressants and he was in total denial about it causing suicide-rates to go up. He said his schoolbooks didn't mention anything like that so it couldn't be true. (Attended Penn State, btw, in case anyone was curious about the quality-level of their books.) Only after I sent him case-studies, law-suits, interviews and other antedoctal evidence, did he finally raise an eye-brow to what he was prescribing people on a weekly basis. Imagine how many graduates are out there diagnosing your children based on western big pharma quackery. These are the same people who are amazed vitamins are actually that good for you and are shocked an antibacterial can kill bacteria. The same quacks that prescribe you drugs instead of looking at your intake.
