2 FBI Agents Involved in Dzhokar Tsarnaev's Arrest "FALL" Out of Helicopter and Die

Remember that scene in Scarface?

Two members of the FBI’s elite counterterrorism unit died Friday while practicing how to quickly drop from a helicopter to a ship using a rope, the FBI announced Monday in a statement.

The statement gave few details regarding the deaths of Special Agents Christopher Lorek and Stephen Shaw, other than to say the helicopter encountered unspecified difficulties and the agents fell a “significant distance.”

Last month, the team was involved in the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings. And in February, it rescued a 5-year-old boy held hostage for six days in an underground bunker in Alabama.

“Whenever things go really wrong, the FBI calls in the Hostage Rescue Team. It’s the government’s 911,” Coulson said.

Irvin Wells, a former FBI special agent who retired in 1990 after leading the Norfolk field office for three years, stressed that the Hostage Rescue Team is different from the FBI’s regular SWAT teams. He noted that agents assigned to a field office’s SWAT team also must perform other jobs inside the bureau, while agents assigned to the Hostage Rescue Team have no other duties.

*chuckle* ....This is so true..

... I post mostly political related stuff, and I often wonder if any of my "friends" even bother reading any of it.....

Here. I swear they see it but just look the other way.

Gee, They're Dropping Off Like Flies. 4 People Down

What are the odds that 4 people --that we know of --in the last 33 days involved in this case have all died unnatural deaths?

Sunil Tripatha
Christopher Lorek
Stephen Shaw
Todashev Ibragim
*Tamerlan Tsarnaev would make it 5, but that would make the odds outrageous.

Just a coincidence, I guess.

How was Tripathi involved other that the false tweet naming him and Mike Mugesa (sp?) as the 2 suspects? Not trying to start a fight, I just haven't heard anything else about him being connected and I'm genuinely interested.

There is lots of questionable stuff concerning him and his death

But I stopped posting lots of things because they were getting deleted or always being derided by a certain someone or causing little wars and people getting banned. If you really want to know, there is plenty of stuff online, you just have to search.

CNN doesn't report it though.

Government alphabet soup

Government alphabet soup agents have no loyalty to each other like in the military where the motto is, leave no man behind. Government agents are free to slit each others throats and do so on a regular basis. I find the phenomenon extremely hilarious.

it could be just my belief

but they could practice that more often
that would get them some respect from me ;)

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

That's why agents should

That's why agents should secure dissemination of the most juiciest stuff they have for immediate upload to the internet should they feel their life is in danger or upon their untimely death.

"part of the team" doesn't mean they were necessarily involved.

is there evidence they were directly involved?

Why do they have to be "directly" involved?

Being "part" of the TEAM means you have INTIMATE knowledge.

Why are you so blasted PC?

Jesus! Talk about splitting hairs?

They were IN on the arrest and NOW they are DEAD!

Ralph's implying he's a loose end, we don't even know involvment

minimum assumptions required:

  1. There's a massive conspiracy involving the law enforcement during the Boston bombings
  2. Every single member of the 90 person Hostage Rescue Team was involved
  3. Especially these two guys, to the point of "knowing too much"
  4. So these 2 deaths were to tie up loose ends from saying _________ to _________
  5. This is logically cohesive so far, as the other 88 are not loose ends who would get suspicious over these events and blow the whole thing wide open immediately
  6. These murders had to have been caused by a mole in that team during the drill
  7. Who knew to plan for a day of poor weather to perform helicopter rappelling drills in which to cover for the murder
  8. In a manner undetectable by the FBI and anyone overseeing the drill

This much you're already convinced of. I'm just not. Forgive me.

You do know this isn't a legitimate response? You can't use idioms to make arguments. It's valid to make educated hypotheses which rely on assumptions.

i agree with your general skepticism but

But to be fair not all of those assumptions are required to reach his conclusion.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

for example

One, 2, & 5 are reundant and can be explained by compartmentalization which has been documentably used before.

Note: I am still reserving judgement on the conclusions drawn from the article

Joη's picture

these aren't assumptions on what's possible

but what the person I was responding to had apparently already concluded.

No amount of possibilities will better support that kind of conclusion.

The separate point I think you're picking up on from my example, but not quite saying, is that it's absurd to assume that "if part of team, then part of conspiracy" (which is the req for this to be considerable), as that would mean these other 88 need to go too.

Even "the bin Laden seal team" hasn't all gone yet.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

I notice you like to pick on my little brother

Yes, Ralph is my brother and it seems you have something negative to say in almost all of his postings regarding Boston.

Chill out, Jon. Quit getting so personal.

How can one be part of a team

How can one be part of a team and not be involved? If they're not involved, they're not part of the team.

"Last month, the team was involved in the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev..."

"...agents assigned to the Hostage Rescue Team have no other duties."

"...the agents – members of the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team, based in Quantico – fell into the water."

A Hostage Rescue Team is a small unit of highly trained individuals. They are a, "team." Like Navy SEALS, they train as a team, and they carry out missions as a team. The men who died were part of that team.

Were they directly involved? If they were a part of the team, then I'm afraid they were involved, yes.

What's disturbing about this article is how it mentions SEAL Team 6. That was the first thing I thought of after reading the title.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.
