Need some help running for Congress

Hi Folks,

Here's the deal; Jo Bonner, congressman for the 1st district of Alabama (Mobile area) announced his resignation last night. He'll be out in August, and the race will be in 2014. I figure I might as well run. No man's life is complete without at least an unsuccessful bid for public office.

I don't know how to run for Congress, but I'm guessing a few of you here have tried. I do know I need around 6000 signatures to get on the ballot, but other than that, what to do?

Suggestions? Links?

My platform would be to promote freedom and the rule of law, instead of what we've got now.

Thanks,

Richard Moyer (I'm not actually George Strait, sorry folks.)

I have

At least one friend in your district who can help in a limited capacity. Working on getting in touch with others. I've got to pull up the map when I get home.

Does it matter

Where the petition signers live?

It's not my district (I'm in Talladega county), and I've never ran for office, but I'll help you if I can...
