Make the subject - A letter from Ronald Reagan
(When you forward delete this sentence and the above text. Obviously!)
I was studying the writings and speeches of our greatest president and taking a few notes. I took a few moments to reflect upon this great man's words and drifted off to sleep. Upon a waking I found the following letter upon my desk. I read this letter and was amazed and taken aback by the many similarities and direct statements from Ronald Reagan's speeches and writings that I had just studied, could it possible be? I beg you dear friend to read this letter with an open heart and mind as I truly believe that the great communicator has a message for us today.
My Dear Fellow Americans,
I hope that you are all doing well but I suspect that may not be the case. Social Security and Medicare are underfunded, recession at hand, unemployment, mortgage crisis, low trust in our elected officials, violence at home and abroad, this is not the legacy that I had hoped to leave for you.
Do not be discouraged I have great optimism as you my friends can restore us to the nation that I was proud to have served. The time is now, to select one man to lead the GOP and our country back upon a path that our founding fathers would be proud of. However I am deeply concerned as there is one man that the news media and the political party leaders' finds so disturbing they will do almost anything to belittle, discredit, ignore or worst of all censor.
And why is that?
This is a man who perhaps personifies Christian character and integrity, American patriotism, and family values more than any other public figure. He is a committed family man whose marriage has lasted for more than 50 years. He is a champion of families and children. As an OB/GYN physician, he has delivered more than 4,000 babies into this world. His life demonstrates a commitment to life and marriage.
Furthermore, his devotion to Christ is very personal and deep. Unlike many politicians (especially in the Republican Party), He does not wear his religion on his sleeve. He doesn't need to. Anyone who knows him knows his faith is exhibited on a daily basis. His life and family are testaments to his Christian faith.
Beyond that, his record in Congress is so unblemished, so honest, so full of integrity that it is difficult to describe. This is a man who actually takes his oath to the Constitution (an oath every congressman, senator, and President also takes--but then ignores) seriously. So much so that he has never voted to raise taxes, never voted for an unbalanced budget, never voted for a congressional pay raise, never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership, and never voted to increase the power of the executive branch of the federal government.
In addition, he has never taken a government-paid junket. Even though he is a 10-term congressman, he is not accepting a government pension. He also returns a portion of his office budget every year to the taxpayers.
As a Conservative Republican he is loathed as much by members of his own party as he is by liberal Democrats. Even though he is the epitome of a Christian gentleman, he is despised by Christians and pastors as much as he is by pagans--maybe more. The media despises him and spins him as "unelectable", but I would remind you that they said the same of me in 1980 and this man was one of only a handful of sitting congressmen who supported my effort for nomination.
He understands constitutional government. He knows what real money is--and is not. When I campaigned for Barry Goldwater in 1964 I warned of America losing its monetary independence and shared my fear that foreign nations would own American currency. Why is it this man is the only one taking up my issues and fighting the good fight?. It's no wonder that historian and author Thomas DiLorenzo said, he is a modern-day Thomas Jefferson.
Unfortunately, most of what we have in Washington, D.C., these days (in both parties) is a bunch of internationalists who cannot see past their own selfish interests. They are consumed with greed and power. They are slaves to Big Business and special interest groups. To them, he represents everything they hate: limited government, freedom, selflessness, humility, and integrity.
Ironically enough instead of the mainstream Republican establishment embracing him they label him as kooky the very same way they labeled me in 1980.
There is only one Presidential candidate who would bring a modern-day revolution to Washington, D.C., and it is not Barack Obama, Mike Huckabee, Hillary Clinton or Rudy Gulliani. These candidates along with the rest of the Democrat and Republican contenders--are only more of the same. The same advances toward global government, the same attacks against individual liberties, the same arrogance, the same hypocrisy, the same social programs, the same back-breaking taxes, the same IRS, the same lobbyists, and the same corrupt Washington politics.
His strong showing in Iowa & New Hampshire surprised most of the "experts." His total votes in Iowa and NH are ahead of Giuliani and Thompson however still the media refused to give his campaign airtime after these events.
Should he fail in his bid to become the Republican Party's Presidential nominee, I believe it is critically important that he continue his bid as a Third Party candidate. His campaign is more than a campaign--it is a movement. People by the thousands and money by the millions is pouring in, and it will continue to pour in all the way to the general election. It is essential that he stays in the race all the way to November.
The fact is, he does not need the support of the Establishment to win. With God's help--and with the help of millions of true Americans -anything is possible.
This is why I'm asking you to cast your vote for the man that most represents my legacy, my views, my core values and that man is Ron Paul. Please go to his website www.ronpaul2008.com and learn more.
Most importantly please send this along to all of your friends, show your support of the legacy of the Gipper by making our dream a reality!
