I've noticed that too...
I only go there to check out science and tech news. I used to think it didn't matter what they thought across the pond but a lot of Americans get there news from the BBC.

Doesn't suprise me one bit.
I live in the UK and I can assure you that the same black out is happening here as it is in the US. BBC are no better then FOX. In fact, you could argue that BBC are worse because they pretend to be unbiased and independent. At least with FOX it's more obvious that they have an agenda. BBC are very clever and making themselves look unbiased and balanced, unlike faux.
Here's What I Think 'Poetic' About The BBC
They got caught. They got caught editing out all reference to the man that murdered Osama bin Laden, a statement made by former Pakistani Prime Minister Bhutto when interviewed by David Frost a few week ago -- BBC News cut it out completely as if she said no such thing at all. But they got caught thanks to online links and THEN they simply put it back in as if they hadn't done anything wrong at all. Ha ha ha ha! They got caught.
Here see this and you'll come to understand:

And this is the way it appears today // It's back in (5:09)

Oh no! The Brits won't be able to vote for him.
Oh, wait, never mind.
Don't stop to kick every sleeping dog.

I say boycott them all!
