2014 Liberty Candidate Thread

Link this post out to all of your Twitter, Facebook, email, etc lists that are fans of liberty. This forum is open for anyone to see. This is our chance to re-establish liberty through the people

WEBSITE: http://candidates4liberty.com/home.html

All,
We need to start consolidating and getting ahead of our competition to support our candidates for 2014. I have started a list of Ron Paul Republicans, Libertarians, Constitutionalists and fellow travelers to donate, support, campaign, or do whatever you want to help with. Please add or make suggestions and I will update. Let's keep this thing going!!

I realize some people won't like the non-purity of the fellow travelers, but some people will want to support them over the alternative. Also, I'm just doing this as a way to consolidate the candidates and info into one location. You may think that x or y doesn't have a chance, or maybe it's strategically better to support z. That's awesome, but not my intention with this thread. I want to identify the BEST candidates for each seat and hopefully we have a someone in every race.

FELLOW TRAVELERS:
Question: What is a Fellow Traveler?
Answer: It is, in the author of this thread's opinion, someone who displays most of the traits of adherence to the Constitution, civil liberties (in a libertarian way), and strong fiscal conservatism, but not at the 90% and up range. This is done through a view of the person's issue statements and voting record, but is subjective in nature and thus should be validated by the person who is considering providing support. This is an organizational tool, not a panacea. Please provide feedback in the comments if I have made an oversight.

Some Tea Party Texas endorsements

A lot of them have Glen Hegar as comptroller, couldn't disagree more, but the rest of the selections are good. (received via Teaparty911.com email)

Southern Agrarian

Disappointed.

Jerry Patterson and Debra Medina should be on the top of the list.

And Wayne Christian is very pro-fracking. Well, all the candidates for Railroad Commissioner are, but Christian is the worst. Only Malachi Boyuls mentioned property rights.

Cool, I voted for Boyuls. I

Cool, I voted for Boyuls.
I met Christian at a tea party forum and he seemed like your run of the mill GOP guy.

Southern Agrarian

Same impression here.

He made fun of people who were concerned with fracking. As for the gas/oil industry his attitude was "If it ain't broke don't fix it." Basically, gas and oil are untouchable in Texas because it creates wealth and independence for the state. The Commissioners are running as if they are on a job interview for these powerful industries.

Boyuls is young and doesn't seemed to be tied so closely to the industry. I see hope with him.

Well, my understanding is

Well, my understanding is that Wayne Christian led the fight in the house against the Trans Texas Corridor.

Thanks for mentioning that.

I didn't know that. That is a big point in his favor.

What do you know about the candidates for AG? I see a lot of support for Paxton.

Dan Branch has a

Dan Branch has a moderate/liberal record in the state house. If you want specifics on how he and other Reps voted. check out the links in this thread: http://www.dailypaul.com/309146/just-exactly-how-evil-is-you...

Smitherman is a longtime insider, He is called "Slitherman" by some. Gregory Parker ran against him for the Railroad commission, check out his facebook page, he has a scorecard featuring the current candidates for Railroad commission: https://www.facebook.com/parkerfortx

I plan on voting for Ken Paxton, I have not heard of him doing anything really bad. Keep in mind I am not saying he is one of 'us' nor have I looked into his record as much as I should have. But I think he is most likely to stand up to the Feds. That is the main thing for me with an AG candidate. But some don't like him because he is a big social conservative by all accounts.

Bumping this thread for caucus night. Yay caucus.

No idea who to vote for in

No idea who to vote for in Minnesota and CD7. Doesn't look like many choices. Perhaps I should sit this one out. Can I still be a delegate and influence the party even if I don't vote. Or does anyone know who is pro liberty? All I know is that Collin Peterson has got to goooooooo.

You have

Torrey Westrom and Scott Van Binsbergen running. I don't have time to vett them now, but here are some resources:

Texas HD 55

Jurgs, in response to your question in another thread, as far as I know CJ did not file for Texas HD 55. Molly White did, she is running against Ralph Sheffield now. Check out her issues, I would support her if I lived in the district. Her willingness to abolish Property Taxes makes me give her a huge thumbs up. http://texansformolly.com/issues/

Very important Texas poll!

Please fill out this poll with the names of your top 5 favorite 2014 Texas challenger candidates (non incumbents) and list the office they are running for. The winners will be getting support from Cpac Texas, so this poll really does matter.

Candidates should complete the questions survey to be qualified for the Top Ten. http://www.newrevolutionnow.org/candidate-questionnaire-init...

Philip Eby, State Representative District 58
Howard Ray, State Representative District 59

Texas Primary Early Voting begins Feb. 18!

Primary Election Day, March 4. So I would suggest, that all facebook/twitter/other outlets, become focused on getting the word out about TX races. Big and small, we don't have much time left. But it does not end on the 4th, the Runoff elections are expected to take place on Tuesday 27 May 2014. We should have a bunch of interesting runoff races, so stay tuned!

Must know voting info for Texans!

They mailed me mine.

Photo ID is needed at the polling place now, but I imagine most Texans have heard that by now.

Lisa Fritsch for Texas Governor

http://www.lisa4texas.com/
Fellow traveler. Not as statist as our other GOP candidate.
Wish I knew of her campaign earlier. I know it would irritate the piss out of our GOP establishment to have this lady win the primary. What would be the left's response in Texas if she ran against Wendy Davis?

Southern Agrarian

I'll check her out

thanks!
