John McCain: Rand Paul Already Proved Wrong On Terrorism By Boston Bombings

WASHINGTON -- Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday suggested that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has lost his credibility in fighting global terrorism.

McCain argued on CNN's "State of the Union" that the government's vast surveillance program is not "necessarily wrong" because it operates under court oversight. Paul, who appeared on "Fox News Sunday," has taken the opposite position, calling the government's phone records monitoring program an "extraordinary invasion of privacy."

Asked to square the two positions by CNN host Candy Crowley, McCain said that Paul was wrong about the terrorism threat in the days before the Boston Marathon bombings. "Just prior to the Boston bombing, he said the battlefield was no longer in America," McCain told Crowley.

Apparently McCain does not comprehend the fact the police state surveillance measures were in full affect and the Boston bombings still occurred.

Government must first prove itself innocent.

Until then government is the number one threat to our nation's security.

McCain is right the American

McCain is right the American battlefield is full of terrorist they all carry id cards that read NSA.

actually McCain is wrong

Russia informed US Intelligence of the so called Boston bombers well in advance of the marathon, the US government chose to do nothing, more than likely to continue the idea of terrorism, for stuff like monitoring of phone calls by everyone.

The ideological war within the GOP...

... between the Liberty Movement and the Neoconservatives has come out into the open for all to see. We in the Liberty Movement are more than capable of winning this war, because we are the ones who stand within the genuine American (and Republican) tradition. The real question is: Can we win the war quickly enough to get Sen. Paul the 2016 Presidential nomination? Time will tell, but if we fall short, let it not be because we didn't give it our best effort.

Sorry for the pessimism

but after the outright theft of delegates and violations of conscience as reported by one of our own, the Granger, I think that it would take an act of God to get Rand the nomination (Unless he does a Nathan Hale, and joins the CFR). That is not to say we should not give it our best effort, but that we might consider the 'third Party' Option as well.

The third installment of the Patriot Series is up, and it met my expectations so far. (Having misplaced my book, I relied on Wikipedia, which was even-handed with the story, they are not always so)

Haym Solomon is the 'Forgotten Patriot', take a look when you have time.

Yep.

Sorry folks. As long as we rely on electronic "voting", we don't have much of a chance.

Maybe we need to reach out to Rand on this one....

This is a crucial issue: if we cannot expose / fix this problem, then we truly are left with nothing but violent revolution.

What would the Founders do?

OPs comment says it all

"Apparently McCain does not comprehend the fact the police state surveillance measures were in full affect and the Boston bombings still occurred"

obviously their "policies"

obviously their "policies" were to restrictive, theyll be granting themselves more authority in no time, have no fear, well, until the next boston bombing, where they'll realise, they had'nt quite granted themselves enough authority the last time.....sooo, this NEW authority should now tide them over, well until the next tragedy that is

Rinse Repeat

You cant stop a thing from happening, unless you have TOTAL control....think about THAT

Thank you for raising an important point, gomez...

When you write...

You can't stop a thing from happening, unless you have TOTAL control... think about THAT

... I am reminded that Neoconservatives are usually secularists who do not believe in an all-powerful God who has total control. This tends to lead them to two conclusions:

1. There are no God given rights that the Federal Government must respect.

2. Since there is no all-powerful God to keep us safe, we instead need an all-powerful Federal Government to keep us safe.

On these two points, the Neoconservatives and the Progressive Left are two sides of the same coin.

While I understand, and respect, that some members of the Liberty Movement are not religious, I offer the above observations as food for thought.

You raised three good points, yourself

I refer to your points one and two above, and to the fact that the Neocons and Progressives are both Statists, just two different sides of the same coin.

Thank you for your gracious words, lady patriot!

That "two sides of the same coin" feeling was a big part of why the last three Presidential general elections were such a bummer for me. Let's make things different in 2016!

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

Yes, and lets start by changing unfair rules in our state GOP..

that bind one's conscience to support a presumptive nominee, and instead permit freedom of conscience to electors. Lets educate folks as to how the Bush administration set up many of the abuses of power Obama is accomplishing, and to just how corrupt the proceedings were in Tampa. Let's start vetting Republicans who have their eye on the nomination, and let's do our best to see that no more CFR members are nominated without a peep.
