Greenwald CRUSHES on Morning Joe

“The White House talking points that you’re using are completely misleading and false."

Two key points that Greenwald makes here:

1. When NSA defenders argue that Congress knew about the extent to which they've expanded the surveillance state and therefore there's no need for the public to be concerned since this has all been vetted, they are withholding the fact that those Congressmen who did know were precluded from saying anything about it. Two senators who did know and WERE concerned - Wyden and Udall - could only hint at the abuse.

2. Those saying that these abuses have met court challenges neglect to mention that the Obama justice department has successfully challenged on the basis that the entities bringing the challenges have no standing. There has been NO court determination as to the constitutionality of this overreach. The NSA claims that since it's all top secret, they can't tell you who is being or has been monitored, so it's impossible for ANYONE, EVER, to have standing.

Sweet Smack-Down

That was a sweet smack-down on Greenwald's part.

Glenn's responses here are

Glenn's responses here are straightforward yet epic.

Nobody suspected govt abuse of power via the Patriot Act?

Anybody with any wariness of govt or knowledge of history could see that coming.

I am blown away by Glenn Greenwald

He is so well-spoken, articulate, and coherent, it is simply a pleasure to listen to him talk. To say nothing of his integrity as a human being. It is hard to believe that Glenn is even in the same species as a Lindsay Graham or a John McCain.

Right. No wonder he works for a non-American news org.

He's too good/smart to work here.

I have to ask the question: Is Greenwald also a Ron Paul supporter, like Snowden?

"Glenn Greenwald is a columnist on civil liberties and US national security issues for the Guardian. A former constitutional lawyer, he was until 2012 a contributing writer at Salon. He is the author of How Would a Patriot Act? (May 2006), a critique of the Bush administration's use of executive power; A Tragic Legacy (June, 2007), which examines the Bush legacy; and With Liberty and Justice For Some: How the Law Is Used to Destroy Equality and Protect the Powerful.

I'm awestruck!! That was the best Morning Joe episode in history.

Glenn shreds debates like Van

Glenn shreds debates like Van Halen Shreds the guitar. Every word is just a note that you don't even hear because it blends into points and ideas so fast, so concise. Great vocabulary, Perfect grammar. Crescendos. If he ran for president, he'd smoke it in the debates.

I'll take my first knock at

I'll take my first knock at Bradley Manning: He should have looked at all of his material, like Glenn said at the end, before 'dumping.'

What exactly should we not know?

Of Manning's releases (Wikileaks, more precisely), which exactly would the public be better off had they never been brought to light? I'm not arguing against by asking the question, but want to know how a return to ignorance regarding which data would help the people at large?

NO - he should not have

it is just that Glenn and Snowden learned from Bradley. Bradley thought the country would be so pissed off by what they saw - the outrage itself would protect him.
Snowden realized he would hunted like a prize trophy of the intelligence community, so he played the game better.

Spin ,Spin, Spin

safety ,safety ,safety, double talk, double talk, double talk as if everything he said was going in one ear and out the other and then they re-frame the same question over and over again! How many times does Greenwald have to answer THE SAME FREAKING QUESTION ?

Mika, your biased NWO bloodlines are showing.

The Trilateral Commission co-founder Zbigniew Brzezinski fathered this thing called Mika.

As much or as little as one wishes to ponder.

I could be reading too much.

Barack Obama appointed eleven members of the Trilateral Commission to top-level and key positions in his administration within his first ten days in office. This represents a very narrow source of international leadership inside the Obama administration, with a core agenda that is not necessarily in support of working people in the United States.

Obama was groomed for the presidency by key members of the Trilateral Commission. Most notably, Zbigniew Brzezinski, co-founder of the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller in 1973, has been Obama’s principal foreign policy advisor.

According to official Trilateral Commission membership lists, there are only eighty-seven members from the United States (the other 337 members are from other countries). Thus, within two weeks of his inauguration, Obama’s appointments encompassed more than 12 percent of Commission’s entire US membership.

Trilateral appointees include:
* Secretary of Treasury, Tim Geithner
* Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice
* National Security Advisor, Gen. James L. Jones
* Deputy National Security Advisor, Thomas Donilon
* Chairman, Economic Recovery Committee, Paul Volker
* Director of National Intelligence, Admiral Dennis C. Blair
* Assistant Secretary of State, Asia & Pacific, Kurt M. Campbell
* Deputy Secretary of State, James Steinberg
* State Department, Special Envoy, Richard Haass
* State Department, Special Envoy, Dennis Ross
* State Department, Special Envoy, Richard Holbrooke

SHE does look like Z BRYZ

If you watch the full interview

If you watch the full interview on MSNBC, at 19:18 Mika asks, "is the law broken? ...I think we all knew this was happening."

The fact of the matter is that Americans are being told that its not happening by the Government. James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, says that the NSA does not collect data on millions of Americans.

Yet, to others, like Ron Paul, this does not come as a surprise. Ron Paul forewarned of this massive overreach in surveillance of Americans long ago and argued against the Patriot Act in 2001.

I applaud Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald because Americans need to know more about what the government is doing. Not the other way around.

“Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy.”

Mika clearly

sees nothing wrong with this. She is so in the bag for Obama it's quite disgusting. It's also funny to see Glenn just going right at her. She's asking questions he's already answered, glossing over his statements, and he is clearly getting frustrated with her level of intelligence. Good job Glenn.

You are 100%

Correct. Glenn absolutely CRUSHED it. Unfortunately MSM being what it is they closed with a couple of fascists calmly reassuring us that "most Americans want this", and "this is legal". Hopefully Glenn's powerful message continued to resonate with the viewer even while that awful woman spouted her hatred of true American Law.

Mika Brzezinski: crazy, bloodthirsty WAR WHORE!

Mika Brzezinski is such a freaking bloodthirsty WAR WHORE. Just her insane father. Speaking on invasive dangan files on every single person's behaviors and whereabouts, the crazed blood-drinking whore of tyrants (Mika) claimed, "Most People, well, want it."

The other maniac uttered "Wait till the next terror attack." to which Mika said "Yes! Thank you!"

Joe then said, "Yeah, let's have drones dropping bombs everwhere" and WAR WHORE snapped, "No, that's NOT what I said."

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

Here's a challenge for you fightapathy

Mika used to work for WFSB in CT.
Try to find a video of her reporting on a story when she worked there. I've tried to find one just to show what an airhead she is.
She did stories on lost dogs & covered carnivals, all the hard hitting stuff. The internet has been scrubbed of all her old videos except for some promo adds for the station.
I used to wonder how she ever got a job with MSNBC. She's definitely a ditz; I don't know about the war whore thing.

Haven't watched CT local news since the 80s when I was a kid

That's an impossible challenge: I haven't watched CT local news since the 80s when I was a kid and didn't know better.

Last I heard, Al Terzi was groping every skirt that fluttered by and was expelled from WTNH. Did he land on WFSB and grope Mika? Probably.

They were all ditzes, and constantly challenged to come up with snappy one-liners after each story. Most failed miserably. No doubt, Mika has a profile at the NSA with a thousand one-liners that fell flat.

I consider her a "war whore" based on her clearly emotional ties to snooping, spying, invading, and droning in order to "get the bad guys."

Getting the bad guys means perpetual global war.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

This is one of the most ignorant comments I've seen posted here.

Yes, everyone knows her father is a war mongering, Israeli defending, neo-con. Oh wait, I don't know what I'm talking about!

One of these days

Joe might just say fuck it I have enough money, and go out with a bang. If he would've at least said "you've pulled out the trump card" with the vitriol that statement deserved I would've been much more pleased.

video of Mika and Greenwald

I think Mika would take up for Obama even if he raped little girls.
