Majority Of Americans Don't Mind Being Spied Upon, Pew Study Finds

In what is likely the most disappointing, if not unexpected, news of the day, we find that according to a just released Pew Research study, a substantial majority, or 56% of Americans, "say the National Security Agency’s (NSA) program tracking the telephone records of millions of Americans is an acceptable way for the government to investigate terrorism." Only 41% object to having every phone conversation intercepted, investigated, analyzed, and recorded for posterity. Sorry Edward Snowden: you just threw your life away for nothing. The sheep have been properly and thoroughly conditioned and brainwashed, which is why they continue to get precisely the government they so rightfully deserve.

Most Americans are

Most Americans are brainwashed (by the Media and CIA-infiltrated academia), or are just stupid to begin with -- and lack any facility for critical thinking whatsoever.

Liberties Lost, Human Torture, Wars, Trillion Dollar Theft by Banks, ...... and nobody cares....nobody is outraged.

We now live in an Iron-Curtain Totalitarian Society, but that's okay with everyone because they got their cell phones....

It's a Dumb Country (the people prove that every day).

I'm ashamed that I was even born here.

Stay home next election

I hope this 56% of the population is the part that stays home come next election. We sure don't need them at the polls, deciding our fate.
I am sure this is the part of the population that also believes we were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan to "protect" our freedumbs too.

If 51% refused to vote. Election would be by a minority.

If a majority does not consent to the government they have then representatives of the minority have no authority in democracies.

A Republic of Laws is preferable to the Imperial Union created by the madman Lincoln.

AttaBoy, Paul_S!

Pound those sycophants of party dogma with the truth about the perverse political system that has strangled the American people. Pound them every chance we get.

I share your opinion about Abraham Lincoln; he was by far the worst president who ruled our nation. Killing 800,000 plus Americans was not about freedom for people of color. It was about centralizing power for the elitists to usurp state sovereignty.

Some things must be conserved, some things must change.

I don't believe a federal candidate ever had a majority of eligible voters. Certainly not in the last 50 years.

Congress strutting around like they represented a majority, passing laws that purported to supersede the Constitution.

However, working in a party to add a popular voice can have value. Bad ideas should not stand. That some enter the pit of the GOP or DEM were bad ideas abound, get a nod from me, if they stay true to liberty.

But yes, they have found their way, and may evangelize, just as long as they don't intervene in my chosen way, I'm fine with that.

Thanks for the bump!

If this is acceptable then I would at least want it to work! Boston is a great example of how invading our privacy helps counter terrorism (that is if it happened the way they say). This 56% are people that don't bother to put forth a second thought about anything, and it's absolutely nauseating.

Beep beep boop beep... I am a Paulbot... prepare for liberty and prosperity!

A Nation of Sheep....

...breeds a government of wolves.

And they wont even know it until the jaws have closed around their necks.

On the bright side, a strong, organized and motivated minority can still prevail.

Don't even bother questioning this poll anyways....

Don't even bother questioning this poll anyways as the question was about phone records. This is only the tip of the iceberg people. They have been collecting data long b4 2008 as they seem to claim and its not just phone records but everything from internet, connected smart appliances to your internet info as well as Census, utilities, repairmen, pc repair techs, etc. They don't even need access to the "private servers" because they are connected to the 2 main providers of service in which EVERYBODY goes through in the country. This has been going on since right after 9/11 with their secret NOCs in the heart of these providers. ALL data has been aggregated and only recently they have been able to sift through it at an alarming rate(Prism). It's bad enough that the fed gov't is doing this but to have contractors doing it and you know the best way to keep your job is to make up work. Scary times but I am seeing the winds of change as well.

Okay 59% I want your facebook

Okay 59% I want your facebook emails/passwords, your email/passwords, your SS#, your height and weight, your mother's maiden name, the first school you attended, your first pet's name, your party affiliation, and your favorite NFL team cuz you know, you have nothing to hide.

Even if this study is

Even if this study is accurate, which is doubtful, it's only because most people have no idea what it means to be spyed on. They Can't fathom the consequences of such an act against them. They're just propaganda lemmings.

Hopefully, because of all the blatant treasonous behavior recently, there are fewer such lemmings.

PEW (peee uuhhhwwww)that study stinks!

Nuff said

Aaron Russo, Nikola Tesla, Ron Paul, I'm jus' sayin'

So what?

41% is way close to 1/2 the population. And just sayin' (again), this country is a Republic and not a democracy in total. Just democratic elections. So unless this 59% want to amend the Constitution, they should just swallow it, support and defend the current Constitution... for the sake of everyone.

God forgives always. Man forgives sometimes. But Nature never forgives.

Not buying

it! What about this poll:

59% Oppose Government's Secret Collecting of Phone Records; 26% of Likely U.S. Voters favor the government’s secret collecting of these phone records for national security purposes regardless of whether there is any suspicion of wrongdoing; 15% undecided...

O.P.O.G.G. - Fighting the attempted devolution of the rEVOLution
Ron Paul 2012...and beyond

It is all in how you word the question...

Rasmussen asked:

"The federal government has been secretly collecting the phone records of millions of Americans for national security purposes regardless of whether there is any suspicion of wrongdoing. Do you favor or oppose the government’s secret collecting of these phone records?"

59% oppose

Pew Research asked:

"As you may know, it has been reported that the National Security Agency has been getting secret court orders to track telephone call records of MILLIONS of Americans in an effort to investigate terrorism. Would you consider this access to telephone call records an acceptable or unacceptable way for the federal government to investigate terrorism?

56% acceptable

Great article! Here's the blame

"Republicans and Democrats have had very different views of the two operations. Today, only about half of Republicans (52%) say it is acceptable for the NSA to obtain court orders to track phone call records of millions of Americans to investigate terrorism. In January 2006, fully 75% of Republicans said it was acceptable for the NSA to investigate suspected terrorists by listing in on phone calls and reading emails without court approval."(From the article)

In other words, members of both parties are practically hypnotized by their particular flavor of MSM. If you corrected that trend out of the figures, an overwhelming majority would be against it. These figures make it obvious that a large portion of the populace actually has difficulty thinking in a non-partisan way.

Here's an example of stomach churning hypnosis where they lull the audience into blind acceptance of a Big Brother State:

Howdy neighbor

I'm here from the "Pew" research institute and I have one question.
"Do you mind being spied on?"
Since you don't mind, I'm going to pull up a chair in your closet and watch you for a while, since you have nothing to hide, OK.
I won't harm you, just want to "spy" on you a little, make sure you're a law abiding citizen and all that.
What a "crock of Bullcrap" for the Pew Institute to make such claim.

And regardless of the

And regardless of the numbers, if someone told them the problems and they actually thought about we would probably be left with under 20% of people still thinking its ok.

"I have nothing hide because I havent done anything wrong." Except that people forget they arnt the ones that decide whats right or wrong.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

I believe it

A good amount of people I've talked to, including family, seem to have no problem with this. It befuddles me. They say "I have nothing to hide, so they can do this if it makes us safer". Arrrgggh. People are so very frustrating sometimes, they just don't understand what has happened to so many people before and what Edward Snowden says: that the government can just create the appearance of guilt by using the access they have to every conversation they've ever had, after somebody makes an incorrect accusation.

We need to educate the masses - did anyone give to the Ben Swann Project Kickstarter today? I hope so (if not, here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/439668500/liberty-is-ris...)

I believe it too, BUT

at the same time, it's not often that I come across people who're okay with being spied on...IF you word it the right way. The 'Patriot' Act is/was supported by so many in the first place in large part, because of the words (and the emotions attached to them) used to sell it.

It all comes down to recognizing, and sometimes playing word/head games, IMO.

Some folks, for whatever reason(s), can't/don't/won't listen to logic, only their version of it. Getting others to agree with you using their own logic and their own 'personal dictionary' versions of words is a great way to get people to believe the truth...and just about anything else.

The only problem with all this is the fact that it's more or less a form of brainwashing. Then again, some people don't have much to 'wash' to begin with, and better they be programmed with 'good' opinions than 'bad' ones.

Which of course just presents a whole new set of...annnnd I'm rambling again. I made my point...whatever it was.

A signature used to be here!

Isn't "Pew" kinda like that expression you make when

something STINKS and you wrinkle or hold your nose in disgust?

(Just sayin'....)

; )

What would the Founders do?

yeah sure...and 90% of people

yeah sure...and 90% of people want gun control.

These 'polls' are nothing but fraud.

“Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy.”
― Ron Paul

That is why

The majority of Americans don't mind being spied on.
The title says it all, that is why the founders of the Republic gave us a Constitution, they knew the "masses are asses" and would eventually vote for whatever the KING wants.
Just like they had done before.
Thank God for the Constitution.
It doesn't matter if 300 Million people don't mind being spied on, raped, lied to, etc. The Constitution protect that "one" person who doesn't think it is right.
That's why we have a Constitutional Republic, the founders of this country knew then, and that someday, the "Masses are Asses".
Just look at how the "people" have voted for the past few decades, that should tell you something.

ROFL 1,004 people surveyed reflect 100% US population

That's basically what they're trying to say:

"'Random' (cough cough) people are 'selected' (no one knows how) to REPRESENT(???) the views of all Americans."

You have to be an imbecile to believe that. The people surveyed have undoubtedly been surveyed countless times so the Pew people know which ones to dial up to get its required/needed/desired outcome. Nothing in this Kabuki Theater is random.

For what it's worth

I was just watching Ron on Piers Morgan tonight and Piers asked for hands in the audience of who thought what Edward Snowden has done was good or bad. The % is about the same at 60% think he is a bad guy and 40% think he is a good guy.

Waking up herds of sheep is a monumental task...

What you forgot to mention

was how many people were HESITANT about raising their hand to the positive answer KNOWING that they would now be TARGETED for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!!!!! How quick the hands went up from those opposed to Snowden's actions.
Your either with 'em or agin' 'em, dontcha know?

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

I didn't forget

I didn't make that observation, thanks for the update and I will go look at that. :)

Ask them if they would be

Ask them if they would be willing to sign a legal document giving the government permission to spy on them and store all their personal communication. Then see what kind of raised hands you get.

no kidding eh?
