One Point To Make When Talking to People Who Say "it's not that big a deal - I did nothing wrong"Submitted by kevink on Tue, 06/11/2013 - 07:31
Tell them "maybe you did nothing wrong but think about this. Anytime anyone does something that they don't want to become public (doesn't have to be something illegal - just embarrassing - e.g. talking about past behavior or a medical issue), the potential for coercion has just been opened up. Do you really want everyone who has done anything embarrassing to be compromised like that? Is that the mark of a free society? What if the people who are compromised are judges, politicians, etc?
Plus, it's extra scary thinking that people could potentially grow accepting of this garbage (maybe they already have). It only take a generation growing up under this for it to "seem normal".
