Bush Administration Supports Unconstitutional DC Gun Ban; Undermines 2nd Amendment Case

Take action here and email the President...

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) has sent the following letter to the White
House asking them to undo the huge harm they have caused the Second
Amendment with the brief they filed in the DC gun ban case.

January 22, 2008
President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington DC 20500

Dear President Bush:

Your Solicitor General has just filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme
Court in the D.C. v. Heller case arguing that categorical gun bans of
virtually all self-defense firearms are constitutional if a court
determines they are "reasonable" -- the lowest standard of
constitutional review.

If this view prevails, a national ban on all firearms -- including
hunting rifles -- could be constitutional, even if the court decides
-- on ample historical evidence -- that the Founders intended the
Second Amendment as an individual right.

I would ask that you direct the Justice Department to withdraw this
unfortunate brief and to replace it with an opinion which reflects
the right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely yours,

Virgil Goode

un real

it seems everyday this president makes more ashamed to be an American. Why does Bush want to cater to the libs now? they, nor I, will never forgive him for going to war. He is just trying to make himself look good to dems b/c he knows this is his last go around. But at the same time he is kicking dirt in the face of the people that support him. This guy truely is an idiot.

No Matter what the supreme

No Matter what the supreme or any government official says! NEVER EVER GIVE UP YOUR FIREARMS OR AMMO!

Where you find inner city gun bans you will find racists.

This is a real definition of racists. Officials who would prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves because of where they live are racists worst then the KKK. Not only do they prevent people from protecting themselves they then provide minimal police protection on top of it. I bet there would be less problems in DC if you eliminated the police and armed the population.

First they take our privacy, then they take our civil liberties, they rape the country into enormous debt, and now they are coming after the last thing the people have to fight back with.

Gonna be a bumpy ride gang. This crap keeps up, and we'll have no choice but to go from a peaceful revolution to a revolutionary war. Guess I better dust the desert sand off my kit and keep it handy again.

Come and Get Them

They can have my guns when they take them from my cold, dead hands!

Ron Paul all the way!!!

some one some time ago

some one some time ago posted that they can take my guns and ammo, but they get the ammo first. I agree 100% They aren't taking my guns as long as I can still aim and shoot!

Isn't it funny that Iraqi

Isn't it funny that Iraqi citizens can have af ully automatic AK-47. It's in their constitution.

I haven't seen many TV shots of Israli kids with their Uzi's lately either but I know they can have them.

Didn't know bush was anti-2nd amendment

Guess it fits with his support of the UN since they want all citizens of the world to be disarmed.

Now you do.

The man got into office by pretending to be a Republican, just like his daddy did.

They are going to start a real shooting war if they keep this up.
