Lend a hand for a friend of Liberty: Jim Uprichard

Hey Guys.
I know some of you may remember Jim Uprichard from the National Convention last year with the Nevada delegation. You'll also remember he got in a bad motorcycle accident on his way back home and lost some vision and motor skills. Well he has come a long way since then and getting some physical therapy through the VA in Nevada but they haven't been very expedient about it. Right now he is in need of about 12 vision therapy visits that cost about $85 a piece. Faith4us3 has set up a continuous YouCaring link for Jim's medical needs and also a link directly to his paypal account. Jim started out in a lot of pain with not much independence right after his wreck and has made a lot of gains toward recovering his mobility (being able to drive, see clearly the entire day). There have also been a small band of people that have been taking him to all his appointments and helping him at his house in Northern Nevada.

Jim Uprichard appreciates everyone's help!

When I returned from the GOP National Convention, it was with a mixture of elation and disappointment. You can figure out why I was disappointed, but the reason I was on such a high coming back from Tampa was because of all the good Liberty people I met there. We were a mighty force and the GOP did everything they could to stop us, but, we DID nominate Ron Paul!

Jim Uprichard was one of those people who helped greatly with that nomination. He was everywhere in the convention hall networking, and helping our Nevada Delegate Chair, Wayne Terhune. If you look at the video of Nevada submitting its votes, you'll see Jim U right there in the fray. You'll see Jim in the video, with Dr. Terhune submitting the nomination paperwork to the Convention Secretary.

Just before we left for Tampa, Jim bought a new Harley. He was so proud of this new bike and had saved a long time to buy it. When he arrived in Tampa, he had literally been whipped into shape by the wind, and had the most joyful expression the entire time he was there. He went to the meetings, he went to the festivals, he went to the Sundome, he went to Whiskey Joes & of course, he waded with us through the hundreds of armed troops that surrounded the convention hall, as much to keep us out, as to protect us.

For those who don't know Jim, he is the most positive person you'll ever meet and always has a smile and laughter shining behind his eyes. He has worked for Ron Paul through two campaigns and won MANY awards in Nevada for the THOUSANDS of caucus phone calls he made. Jim LIVED in campaign headquarters in Reno and was an inspiration with his boundless energy for the campaign.

So, when we heard he had almost died on some highway in Florida, less than a week after we all went home after the convention, it was heartbreaking. There are so many people who have helped Jim, and he's very thankful, but his recovery is taking a long time & requiring a lot of money. If everyone on the DP sent $5 that would make such a difference.

Could you see it in your heart to build a really explosive money bomb for Jim?

Thank you!

Thank you for posting. Jim is a good guy!!

Jim still cannot drive or walk very far. Jim gets real dizzy when he tries to walk too far, but will not complain often at all. He has had an amazing recovery, but his shoulder is still dislocated and the VA has only provided him with one physical therapy appointment per week. The Reno Orthopedic Clinic doctor has to wait for every approval and every x-ray. The doctor has said, "just give me the arm and I will take care of it." Unfortunately, this is not the way the system works. Anytime you deal with the government it is this way. Cannot wait until ObamaCare is fully implemented!! Jim would have his vision and his arm if he did not have to wait for "paperwork".

Please donate. I will pay for one appointment. Thank you for paying for the two that you did!! You are awesome!! The initial appointment was over $250 and the VA will not cover any of this. Most doctors will not take VA or Medicare. Jim does not have Medicare, but is attempting to see if he can get it. (paid into it his whole life, might as well try)

Jim does have an awesome "Ron Paul doctor" that does physical therapy and chiropractor work on a donation basis. Jim is very grateful for this. Dr. Riley is wonderful! AND a lifesaver!!

Thank you for posting this.

Jim is a true patriot. He continually calls those in "power" in Nevada to tell them to support different bills which continue the liberty message. Even though his memory, vision, shoulder, etc are not at their best he continues to fight for us. Please consider donating to help with this therapy. The VA paperwork and facilitating healthcare has been a complete nightmare. The amount of time it took them to approve the eye surgery cost him his vision in his left eye. We are hopeful he will regain his vision with this therapy. Please continue to send prayers. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Cannot believe when he had no memory he was still

able to call Dean Heller and tell them off!

oops, posted this on an old post, thought I should put here

Jim had to move recently, so he had to put a ton of stuff in storage. We helped him get everything out and I "yelled" at him quite often (he had been doing things he should not have been doing to move and hurt his shoulder pretty bad, he is in a lot more pain recently) It is a good thing he moved because he is now in town and people can give him a ride much easier now. Unfortunately, his rent has now doubled. Prior to Jim's accident Jim was needing a very expensive part on his car, in order to move the car he had to get the car fixed, so that happened last week. (I know a good friend came from out of state to help him). But, Jim said to me he did not remember how his car got to the shop and got repaired. I was out of town on the first vacation I have had for more than two years, so I was unable to go to his first vision therapy appointment with Jim. I do know he was very excited about the expectations from the doctor and he should have his therapy glasses in this week. His first appointment was much more than they told me it would be, over $700. (Jim could not remember the exact amount and he was only able to pay half, he did not want anything to "bounce")

Hope this updates you a little bit on his progress. Jim is not a complainer (very often, if at all), but when/of he does I know I have to help. I have emailed him some info from this post and asked him if he would post a comment. (we shall see if he remembers his log-in and password, sometimes typing is a little off) Speaking of that, he said he did the test for the doctor (about 4 hours) and he thought he was doing great, found out he was doing pretty badly. Please keep saying prayers...... Thank you.
