New Gallup Poll: Americans DISapprove of Government Surveillance Programs

PRINCETON, NJ -- More Americans disapprove (53%) than approve (37%) of the federal government agency program that as part of its efforts to investigate terrorism obtained records from U.S. telephone and Internet companies to "compile telephone call logs and Internet communications."

These results are from a June 10-11 Gallup poll. Although the current survey context was different, these results are similar to those obtained in a May 2006 Gallup poll measuring support for a government program that "obtained records from three of the largest U.S. telephone companies in order to create a database of billions of telephone numbers dialed by Americans." In that survey, 43% approved and 51% disapproved.

It would be interesting to see this when Bush...

It would be interesting to see this poll when Bush was in office and the same event happened.

Or, maybe it wouldn't.

Currently consuming: Morehouse's "Better off free", FDR; Wii U; NEP Football

Meybe we should just poll if murder is ok.

So if a majority poll in their liear fake polls does it mean that its ok to violate the constitution?

sovereign

The shameless harlots

On the radio station reported it the exact opposite way.

...when it's not their party in office.

Damn I hate Republicrats and Demopublicans. Thank God I'm not a masshole.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

But since we're trying to educate the massholes...

...I guess that makes as massochists.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Masshole

Nice.

O, Democrats. What is wrong with you?

He's the man.

lol @ the poll question ...

"As you may know ... " but you are not supposed too.

"Based on what you have heard or read about the program ... " which should be nothing because it is top secret.

and dont forget the

and dont forget the obligatory get out of jail free card statement, as if some part of them is aware that the action itself, NEEDS the justification

"as part of its efforts to investigate terrorism"

They dont want to listen to that part though it seems

And one god damn thing, there are many, many, different god damn ways to do a a god damn thing, if enough thought is put into it, instead of the "simple" solution......the fact of chosing THIS path, tells the people something, in and of itself......

Another Poll of a thousand people. What a Joke, its 2013 !!!

These polls do nothing but distract people from the real issues at hand. The polling agencies need to improve the methods and scope of surveys. 1000 people doesn't cut it when we're talking about the lives of 300 million. its 2013 they need to use technology.. Everyone else is obviously, how come the pollsters can't catch a clue?

The implication in the question

"as part of its efforts to investigate terrorism".
The question itself perpetuates the myth, and suggests the answer they want.

I don't actually believe that's why they want all that information.

Besides, about polls:

F you Frank.

I hope your real name isn't Frank, that's not at you. :)

Thanks for the post.

Just open the box and see

Would those 37% be willing to

Would those 37% be willing to legally sign over their constitutional rights to Federal Government employees?

I didn't think so.

OF COURSE NOT!

They are the dumbed down by design useful idiots. That can be woken up, RUINING YEARS of programing that Never works again. LOL

I'd bet most people use passwords, hoping they work.

I'd bet that the 37% that said they don't care use passwords and lock their home or apartment.

But companies handed over the master key, secretly to the government.

Without due process, notification, consent or royalties.

Free includes debt-free!

Public opinion polls do not determine what is legal or illegal.

It doesn't take a law degree to determine that what was done is illegal according to the 4th Amendment. I do appreciate the poll information though,, thanks for the post.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

np, I'm just the messenger

Polls are meaningless and can

Polls are meaningless and can be skewed any way you want 'em to be skewed.

Piers Morgan said the Pew numbers were "overwhelming"

These are much more so. MSM, thoughts?

egapele's picture

"Thoughts" ... from the MSM? LOL!

Better use of my time would be trying to teach a herd of cats to do the cha-cha in sync than waiting for an answer on that one!

Good point.

MSM doesn't think...

they only regurgitate what they are told to say...
