3 Reasons the ‘Nothing to Hide’ Crowd Should Be Worried About Government Surveillance

Responding to a popular reaction to news of the National Security Agency’s massive data collection program, blogger Daniel Sieradski started a Twitter feed called “Nothing to Hide.” He has retweeted hundreds of people who have declared in one form or another that they are not concerned that the federal government may spy on them. They say they have done nothing wrong, so they have nothing to hide. If it helps the government fight terrorists, go ahead, take their civil liberties away.
In his blog, a frustrated Sieradski listed many of the abuses of power our federal government is known for; he is not happy with the "nothing to hide" crowd.
There are many, many reasons to be concerned about the rise of the surveillance state, even if you have nothing to hide. Or rather, even if you think you have nothing to hide. For those confronted by such simplistic arguments, here are a three counterarguments that perhaps might get these people thinking about what they’re actually giving up.

The Nothing to Hide crowd is brain-challenged

At least in regard to the most basic logic:

About he/she who says "I don't care, I have nothing to hide."

Oh, yeah? Okay, then. Some FACTS refresher:

Fact 1:

What is government? Answer: FORCE.

Fact 2:

What is law in the hand of government? Answer: the reckoning of this force, we like it (just laws) or not (unjust laws).

Fact 3:

Will they ALWAYS be part of the majority that votes the laws they found just enough? Answer: how could anyone ever be?

Fact 4:

Will they get to decide or agree what was suitable to be found, or NOT suitable AT ALL, about themselves, ONCE THEY HAVE SURRENDERED on all of their own privacy?

Answer: sadly, no, again.

For, indeed:

They'll be surprised to see HOW EASILY their dear government will find suitable to line them up...

FOR THEIR EXECUTION, after it has changed its mind on their "nothing to hide"...

(and be it soon or late, by this reckless "principle", or absence thereof, rather).

So, I ***KINDLY*** suggest the Nothing to Hide crowd...

Damn it.

Oh, and to open History books once in a while, and to forget their TVs then, too.

Waking up to reality is much harsher than a Hollywood movie plot's action scenes. Because the ugliest of reality is also prepared in the greatest calm and discretion, usually. AND DURING MOST OF THE TIME that ONLY appears uneventful, precisely.

Am I right, or am I right, Edward?

I have found this to be a great response

I have sent to lots of friends and family when I hear the response that they have nothing to hide or have done nothing wrong.

Pet Shop Boys Integral

This song from the Pet Shop Boys is kind of Spooky in that now everyone else that doesn't read the Daily Paul now "gets it".

If you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear.

If you have changed your mind I am afraid its to late.

It goes nicely with this song about George Bush...

here it is !!!!!

How about ex post facto laws?

"[Latin, "After-the-fact" laws.] Laws that provide for the infliction of punishment upon a person for some prior act that, at the time it was committed, was not illegal." http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Ex+Post+Facto+...

Article one, section nine of the U.S. Constitution reads, in part: "No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed."

As with so many other Constitutional boundaries, this clause will fail to be followed more openly simply because access to sooo much info on EVERYONE will make the likely restraint against abuse by ex post facto laws, impossible, eh?

The spiritual perspective.

This is a spiritual battle, let me illustrate. Put aside your religion (atheism or other) and please consider the following objectively:

The gospel of Christ is one of FORGIVENESS and REPENTANCE with the central tenet being that it is possible for a sinner to genuinely repent and his past sins will be WIPED CLEAN for ever and ever.

The purpose of surveilling law abiding people is to gather data that will be used against them FOREVER AND EVER. There is no forgiveness. There is no repentence. It is used for POWER AND CONTROL over people. This is the polar opposite of the central tenet of Christ's message and happens to be the actual gospel of Satan, the Eternal Adversary.

Satan's plan for man is to CONTROL them. There is no forgiveness. There is no repentenance. Anything you EVER DO can and will be used against you FOR EVER AND EVER, regardless of whether you have actually grown and changed as a human being (repented), you will be PUNISHED FOREVER.

Free people do not monitor each other. It's as simple as that. Degenerate evil people do. Those who are literally asserting the gospel of Satan, of no forgiveness or repetenance, of control though BLACKMAIL of your sins for ever and ever do.

Just Tell The Libs Who Don't Care

about being watched that Jeb Bush is running in 2016. That might get them to come around

here is the arguement

If you don't mind them collecting your phone records because you are NOT a terrorist- you wouldn't mind Gov't officials checking your house once a week " just because"

Government inspection

Government inspection day?

Oh! Must be tuesday!

Perhaps the government has nothing to hide? Nothing at all?

Love the meme!

I've been saying it in longer form for the past week or two, that classification is hiding crimes. Nicely done!

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Everyone has something to hide. They just don't know it.

What these "nothing to hide" people are to ignorant to understand is that they are also law breakers. Everyone in this country is a law breaker. We have thousands upon thousands of laws in this country. One of the reasons for all these laws is to ensure that everyone is GUILTY of something or another.

Everyone breaks some law and many people break the law every day and don't even realize it. Now with all the surveillance that is kept forever in some memory bank the PTB can pick and choose who will be their next patsy, victim or cash cow.

You are guilty, now let's go back through the memory banks to prove it.

I posted this on another thread

I need anyone who might have an opinion on this:

For anyone on Firefox, I have a file that showed up on my desktop about 10 minutes ago entitled "Old Firefox Data." When I opened the file, it opens in Safari. Has anyone else on Firefox or Safari had this file show up? I've never seen anything like this before.

It seems the data stored is from my visits to the "dailypaul.com."

I haven't reset Firefox. Why would a Old Firefox Data file open up in Safari? I'm just curious.

I'd like to know

I'm not the only one thinking what I'm thinking...;)

Edward Snowden sacrificed

Edward Snowden sacrificed himself to expose ongoing excessive Federal Government criminality. The government is vacuuming up and storing private communication data on every American citizen. How is that not criminal activity when it violates the supreme law of the land?

The Nothing to Hide crowd is why we have the 3rd amendment

I have no doubt that these same people would make a bed, dinner, and give a foot massage to Federal agents who showed up at their door demnding it, as they have "nothing to hide" from them.
