Rand Paul: Jesus was anti-war

By JAMES HOHMANN | 6/13/13 1:07 PM EDT

Making the case against excessive American engagement overseas, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) reminded social conservatives Thursday that Jesus was anti-war.

“I can recall no utterance of Jesus in favor of war or any acts of aggression,” Paul said at a kickoff luncheon for the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference. “In fact, his message to his disciples was one of non-resistance.”

The likely 2016 presidential contender quoted Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”

Paul stressed that America needs a strong military but that it should be used sparingly.

Blessed are the peacemakers

It's important to remember that everything Jesus said is absolutely true. So when he said "Blessed are the peacemakers" he in effect was saying warmongers are cursed. This is backed up by other scripture. Our situation as a country is a direct result of not following the way....The blessings of the Lord are conditional for it say IF you follow my ways...... "You will lend to many nations but borrow from none.....". Today the US is the biggest debtor nation and that is a direct result of not following the way. This is just one example but if you truly believe what Jesus said then it makes sense. Only life creats more life..... war only brings destruction and a curse.

good for Rand--

Here's a transcript

The Biblical "replay" I'd like to see on youtube is when Jesus

throws the money changers out of the temple!

What would the Founders do?

What Would Jesus Do (With the Fed)

End it! (IF throwing the moneychangers out was His response then...)

"Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern." ~~C.S. Lewis
Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

Really?

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."
Matthew 10:34

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

THE SWORD

There was a time when Christianity almost disappeared. Then a man name Constantinople raised his sword and put crosses on there shields. Many pictures of Saints show them with with a sword. I always pray for Michael the Archangel for protection from my enemy's.

Money talks and dogs bark

He knew what would happen--

He knew the human heart, and He knew that the human heart liked violence and would oppress those who followed Him--

that's not the same thing as approving of it--

to foretell it is one thing; to sanction it is another--

He knew what His words would do, but he did not sanction violence; think of Peter's sword--

This was a warning to those naive followers of His who didn't really understand what His Coming would do--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

and as a human why do you want to destroy your own?

Just want what seems to be missing, Truth and Justice for ALL
What is fraud except creating “value” from nothing and passing it off as something?

Think deeper

Don't be so simple minded. Read the entire context. And more importantly read what Jesus said to the Romans when he was on trial for political dissidence.

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain

Nice try.

Can you read English?

He referred to HIMSELF.

Rand's quote was Jesus speaking to disciples and followers.

Disciples and followers of Christ are not Christ himself. Or can you not tell the difference from simple 4th grade level simple English.

Nice!

Will share on Twitter.

God how I dislike neocons

However, it's hard for me to decide who I find more repulsive, them or progressives.

Dont waste

energy on ones whos message brings destruction. Use the energy to promote your message which hopefully contains love and peace! This is a fight of ideas:)

You're right, of course

I'm just in a really bad mood today.

it sucks when were in a bad mood and cant even recognize it, sometime going for a short walk can clear the mind even if its just for 10 minutes or so... cheer up ;)

Decompress, try to look at the world in a way you haven't before and get out of the rut this crazy world wants us to be in.
